Weirdest book you ever read?
What was the weirdest book you ever read?
You know, like a book that when you read a couple chapters in you went "What the heck?!?", and kind of went like O.O. For me, it would have to be this book I read about some farm animals trying to take over the farm. They could talk and such, and it was a reference towards Adolf Hitler, I do believe. The pig was the evil one. I was about halfway through the book when I went, wow, what a strange book. And it was, the ending was strange, the beginning was strange, the book was just, plain old, strange. [By the way, I forgot the title and author. Anyone else read this book?] So discuss, what's the weirdest book you read? |
The Book of Human Evil.
It's sorta a dark book that was written by a cult around 1830 or so. I only read a few pages but it was very scary. I read the chapter about Demon Awakening. Poor branny.. |
Too many books for me to even list.xD But I do believe the book you are talking about is Animal Farm no?I read it in 8th grade and it was quite an interesting book I do believe so too.o_O;

@St Branny
Oooh, Cults! They interest me so! I think I'm going to look up that book later... although I don't really like scary books. Sounds so interesting :D Btw, your username looks familiar... o.O @Dannigirl Oh! Maybe, lol. Probably, yeah. Hey, I read it in 8th grade too. Mmhm, very interesting; so odd. |
The wildflowers series by v.c andrews
basicly there are these 4 girls that had terrible home lives and they are at their therapists for group therapy, so the first 3 girls tell their stories which get increasingly weirder until the last girl goes and her story is like so horrible and weird. I was hust like whoa this is strange, and don't even get me started on the last book in the series, 3 of the girls help the 4th girl bury her dead mother in the backyard. lol it was soo creepy. |

hmm.. the weirdest book i think so far that i have recently read. was prolly for my AP literature class this year its called A Long day's Journey into Night by Eugene O'neil... its a play and it was really weird.. the mother is like a morphine addict or something.. and she doesnt really fit with the story XD. in the end she kinda goes crazy and doesn't even recognize her own kids... all and all it was weirdd
|
Well one of the weirdest ones I have read before would have to be the Phantom Tollbooth that I read in my second year English class, it was really odd. A clock dog, two people, a math world and a literature world. Freaky deaky. The dolldrums were funny though as me and a friend forgot tipX one day and he said in this really weird voice "your in the dolldrums" so that made the book stick in my mind :P

It was either Slaughter House Five by Kurt Vonnegut or Animal Farm by George Orwell. I was expecting war type material in both of these books, but Vonnegut talks about aliens and abductions which kind of threw me off. And Animal Farm was weird in funny way. Orwell uses farm animals to depicts pre-World War One through the use of well... farm animals. It was strange, but quite interesting at the same time.

Oh, Chocolati, you mean George Orwell's Animal Farm! I love that book. ^^
And it's not about Nazis, it's about communism/socialism/dictatorship in general. =) I'd say the weirdest book I've ever read was... hmm... Evil Genius (sorry, forgot the author). It's about this genius kid who has to see a psychiatrist, but said man is really a sortof "spokesman" for the kid's biological father who's a mad scientist supervillain in prison. The psychiatrist basically secretly raises the kid to be an evil genius, sending him to a college that's secretly for evil people, teaching him how to be a supervillain, etc. I didn't really like it. -_- |
Mr. Chicky's Funny Moneyand yes that is a real book I would never make up the name of a book!!

The weirdest book I've probably ever read was Only Revolutions by Mark. Z. Danielewski. Both sides appear to be the start of the book, you can flip it so you can read either protagonists' story, they kind of blend into each other after awhile and there's a small list of world events on the side of the page. Each page has exactly 180 words (with both sides of the story combined). It's also written in this odd poetry-prose type dealy, I found it really hard to understand.
Danielewski's other book House of Leaves was really odd, too. It was about a 20-something guy named Johnny Truant who finds a book in a dead man's apartment. The book is called The Navidson Record and it's an essay about fictional documentary of the same name. The film documents Will Navidson's house which is larger on the inside than it is on the outside. His books are so freakin' awesome. ;D |
The weirdest book I ever read is the one that changed my taste in books. I was very into historical novels, specifically Medevial based stories. I was looking through the school library for more books about that time period and found a book called "Galactic Troubadors" I had no Idea what Galactic was at theat time but knew a troubador was a medevial musican. So I checked out the books and discovered it was a Scince fiction book about three highschool student on a interstellar field trip to collect music from other planetary cultures.

I loved Animal Farm! I think the symbolism Orwell used is beautiful in a strange, abstract way. Personally, I never read it, but I heard the book Criss Cross by Lynne Rae Perkins didn't make any sense. The school librarian read it and asked students what was happening in the book. No one understood it. |
the weirdest book to me was candy darlings....since i love candy i thought it would be good....boy was i wrong...it turns out to be a erotic novel
|
The weirdest book i've ever read...dancing naked. it's acctually a good book! it has nothing to do with dancing naked!
|
Easily House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielwiski, as someone else previously mentioned. It was a story, within a story within a story, more than half of which was told in footnotes. Not to mention how one of these stories is about a guy going crazy because he's reading the same thing you are.
Man that book was all sorts of amazing. And weird. Very much all sorts of weird. |
The weirdest i read is Poison by Chris Wooding, dont get me wrong i love the book but it twists so much you think this one thing then its changes completly.
Its werid sometimes.. |
I don't know if I find Animal Farm weird.
George Orwell used farm animals I think because animals were the most likely choice after humans. And a farm could represent society. So when you no longer have a leader, it shows what happens in society. The End of Mr Y was quite weird, but it was written as a thought experiment, so that was intended. |
I read a book about serviceable dresses.

The book your on about is animal farm by george orwell.
The weirdest booik ive ever read would have to be george orwells 1984, I wasn';t weird in an 'omg' sort of way but in the fact that it was so realistic. (The bo0ok is about the future of man kind set in 1984 written in the 50's) I mean yeah he was slightly wrong on the date but all the things he talked about like being constantly watched, and such is coming true, with cctv and everything. It sent a shiver down my spine. I was also weird because george orwell is always one step ahead of the reader. You think you;ve got the plot sussed and then he completely flips everything. Normally I can suss things but this book kept me guessing. |
Definitely A View From Saturday.
Also, Whales on Stilts and Kingdom Keepers were really weird. But, I count A View From Saturday more in the category of "Worst book I have ever, ever, ever read." |
mein kampf
by adolf hitler i barely read a few pages........ it waz not weird or antthing.......but cudnt understand a thing in that book.... |
This one book that is all text and shit. I mean it is like sending text books and shit throughout the book. I thought it was boring but she was reading it to me. I was like "Ugh, Stop the torture." I mean in my head, of course, never out loud.
