Brodie watched the little bits of light die out. The fire seemed a little more than unnecessary to him, let alone the fact that he'd crushed the phone, but he didn't really want to argue with someone who could do that as if it were a normal occurrence.
"So," he said after thinking for a second, "What about 'that Reaper girl?' And that other one, are there really so many of you that I'm going to keep seeing a Reaper everyday now?" 'Because I'd really hate that.' |
Tessan smiled at their behavior, wishing she had had a sister, or at least one she could remember. Grabbing a few pillows, she said, "If you want to sit up, I can help..." She wasn't exactly a people person, since she mostly just dealt with the dead ones.

"Reapers are everywhere," he replied simply with a shrug, lying down across the desk.
"He's fine," he replied with a slight nod, slipping his hand into his brother's hand and giving it a soft squeeze. "It feels like I was hit by a bus..." he said, sitting up a little and squeezing his brother's hand back. If it weren't for the amount of pain Zaitsu was in, it'd be hard to tell which of them was the older of the two. "You can't really say that, since you forgot that," he said with a weak smile. "Yeah..." |
Slipping the pillows behind the man's back, Tessan raised her eyebrow and tilted her head to the side. "He was hit by a bus? A while ago, or...are you just saying he doesn't remember falling out of the window," she asked, somewhat confusedly.

"He was hit by a bus when he was twelve. He...he doesn't remember it, or anything up to a month leading up to the accident..." His voice trailed off and he looked away, squeezing his brother's hand again.
Andrew began to stir, his eyes opening as he started to push himself up into a sitting position. "I didn't think it would take that much energy..." he said weakly, reaching up and moving his hair away from his face. "It's because you don't sleep enough. You especially should realize that," he said, standing up suddenly. "You need to take better care of yourself. We need you." He went towards the door, bending momentarily to pick his helmet up off the floor. "Amani...?" Zaitsu called after him, a look of concern mixed with desperation for his brother to stay on his face. "I need some air. I'll be back after a while," he replied with a slight gesture of his hand, slipping from the apartment and into the main hall. ((Yume, could you use a darker font today? I'm sorry, I'm having real trouble reading it today, and for some reason my browser doesn't feel like highlighting your text right. Also, she can follow Amani if she wants to.)) |

Tessan shrugged and shook her head at the boy's actions. "I hope you feel better, both of you," she said before she ran out of the door to catch up. "Hey, wait u-" she was about to call, but found she had run into him. |
"What?" he asked, stepping into the elevator and pressing the button for the correct level of the garage. He held his helmet under his arm against his hip, his head hung as he stared down at the floor.

"Sorry, I didn't know you were so close to the door," she said as she followed him into the elevator. "If you're so concerned about your brother, why didn't you stay?" She was slightly confused, a feeling that was becoming familiar with this family. |
"Because he's with Andrew now. He doesn't need me for anything. I'd rather just distance myself for a little while and breathe." He sighed and stepped out into the parking garage once the elevator doors opened. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his keys, though he didn't go to his motorcycle. Instead, he unlocked the Dodge Neon and opened the rear driver's side door, sliding inside and leaning back against the seat and closing his eyes.

'He's getting awful comfortable there,' Brodie thought as he watched the man respond to his question. "Well," he said, "that certainly is comforting. I don't suppose I can keep avoiding the ones that want to kill me forever, then, can I?"

Tessan followed slowly, contemplating what he had said. "But still, if you're worried about someone, just because they are in good hands doesn't mean they stop worrying, or feel good about leaving. I've seen it many times-the worry of leaving someone, even if they are in good hands, such as a doctors. And there is air inside, it isn't just exclusive to this car," she said, scrunching her nose at his closed eyes. |
((No, he's holding the door open with his leg, though the car is unlocked and she can enter through the other door if she wants.))
"I'm not like everyone else... If I stay with him I'll get too worried and bad memories will haunt the both of us." He sighed and opened his eyes a little to look at her. "This is where I come to think. I'll search the whole damn city, just to find this car." |
She shook her head, smiling and plopped down on the ground on the inside of the door, beside the car. "Boys and their cars. At least you have whole memories. My memory from before I died has more holes than swiss cheese, believe me," she said, leaning back against the car door.

"It isn't mine. It's my brother's. The motorcycle is mine. We share a pickup between us..." He watched her for a moment, before continuing, though changing the subject just slightly. "I'm not dead, you know. I know what you are, but I'm not like you."

"I assumed; you don't have the same feel as other reapers do. But Andrew...isn't he an angel? Again with the whole kinda familiar feel. But you and your brother clearly aren't human either, so what exactly are, oh son of shadows?" she asked, a teasing smile on her face as she looked up at him.

"Andrew is a dragon, not an angel... But still, there's something heavenly about him. It almost gives you hope that there might be a chance at salvation..." He sighed and ran his hand through his hair; a habit he and his brother had picked up from Shozii over the years.
"What are we...? My brother is a forgotten crow. And I...I'm but a wish upon my dead mother's lips." ((When he said "I'm but a wish upon my dead mother's lips," he was referring to his name. I picked his name for all of its meanings, actually. ^^;; )) |

"Hmf, you guys really are a motley crew huh? I'm glad my origin is simple; I was a normal human, I died, and I became a reaper. The end, nothing more to me. You guys are so complicated," she said, tilting her head up so she was staring at the roof,though it was still leaning against the car door. |
"If you want the truth, we're worse than death... Soldiers in a war over the apocalypse..." He sighed and closed his eyes again. "Complicated is an understatement."
He opened his eyes and turned his head to watch her. "Would you have followed if I hadn't brought you here?" |
As soon as he said 'complicated is an understatement,' she immediately forgot the topic, moving on to the one he had just introduced. "I dunno, maybe," she said slowly, turning her head, still tilted up, towards him. "That Brodie kid was getting pretty boring. And someone destroyed the phone I left him, the jerk. I may have followed just for something to do, I'm not really feeling reaper-ish again today." She straightened her skirt out without looking, telling by the shadows it was wrinkled.

"Death himself is with Brodie Fisher tonight. He won't hurt him, though... Andrew wants him alive, so he'll be spared... I don't know what he's thinking, though..."

Tessan shrugged, saying, "I'm really don't know why everyone is making this big uproar about the kids not dieing. People don't die when they are supposed to all the time, stuff happens and they live. Like, even if they'd been hit by that car, or whatever it was, who's to say they'd have died right there? Hospitals these days are pretty fancy."

Besnik was walking around the hospital when he found a young child that was crying all alone in her room, so he entered. "Whats wrong, child?" He murmured gently and placed a hand on her head, using his powers to soothe her.

"I think it's the fact that they were supposed to die... It breaks the cycle..." He sat up and watched her, a sad look on his face. "We were supposed to die, but we didn't... I'm not sure if I'm for or against breaking the cycle..."

She shrugged. "So cycles are broken, some poor kid gets luck and gets to live longer. Like I said; stuff like that happens a lot." Tessan stopped tilting her head up and just looked at him with a smile. "Hey, if I were you, I'd be all for breaking cycles. I wish the cycle around me had been broken, but, whatcha gonna do, right?"

Brodie looked at the man, 'All sprawled out on my desk like that he kinda looks like a cat again...Well, I guess he is a cat.' The thought stirred up another notion, "If there are so many Reapers, I can't very well be protected for too long can I?" He tilted his head in a questioning manner, "Just how are you guys supposed to do anything during the day? I've got school tomorrow, and I don't I can sneak a pet in."
