((oh noeeessss what on earth possessed me to write this right before a weekend without internet?!))

Phineas was having dreams. His sleep-what little he'd got while in captivity-had been plagued by dreams lately. They were tiring continuations of the horrors of being awake. He was again not sure what was real or what was just a dream. The events in the tent, turning mostly to his original shape, seeing his friends alive, that must have been a dream. It was... too unreal to be real.
This now was reality.
He was in his cage, chewing on the bars with his teeth. His canines were getting worn down from months of working on the escape, and the bars didn't even look close to being weaker. They were metal bars but they tasted like lightning. He almost relished the flavour, as he'd been grounded by the DreamCatcher and was only allowed one meagre meal a day, of rotting bread and a wedge of flyblown meat.
He couldn't eat that, he refused to. Though the food did not work as nourishment, it did make a good projectile weapon. His attacks hadn't released him from the cage though.
Still chewing industriously at the bars, he heard approaching footsteps and rolled his eyes up to see the DreamCatcher approaching, a silhouette in the doorway, black as tar except for his eyes and grinning teeth.

Turtle was hovering over Phineas, willing him to wake up so they could go play and make good memories. Suddenly the boy's eyes snapped open, and Turtle stepped back, startled, only to find the thin-fingered hands around his neck, squeezing.
This of course didn't bother the dead creature, so he stared in doggish confusion at his attacker, not choking or even registering the pressure.
He hadn't actually expected his brainpower to wake the kid up. What a happy occurance. But Phineas' eyes were distant and cloudy, dreamlike. Turtle grinned, but would have frowned if he could have. Hm. He WASN'T awake. How odd. He waited to see what the dragon boy wanted from him.

[[Steffie is a sadist AND a masochist?? goodness gracious! You need help!]]

Yuki heard two things in less than a few moments. First, the shuffling of something in the master bedroom which caused him to quickly stand up. Second was the loud crack of lightning. He had heard wind but had not expected such a loud sound. He ran outside quickly to see if anything had happened and found his mother a good distance from the door. She was standing straight, looking at the ground, with her left hand pointed straight in the air. "What happened?" he asked.

Shan looked up at him. "I couldn't hold it back," she said. "It just.. came forth. On the plus side, I feel much better now, if a little stiff."

Steffox 08-09-2008 12:36 AM

Turtle was fascinated by Phineas. The kid was really angry at his dream, apparently, because he was transforming, trying to turn him back into what he'd been earlier. He could see the shape of scales just under the skin of his face, ready to burst through and become protective plating. His eyes didn't change though, like they usually would when he was even the slightest bit angry. They just stared through the dog.
After another moment of intense squeezing, the grip slackened and the hands came away from the dog's neck. The scales disappeared. Phineas fell back onto the bed and rolled into a little ball on his side, hugging his arms as closely to himself as he could. The strange eyes closed and Turtle figured he'd gone back to sleep. Or... um... gone... back to... non physical dreaming. Or something.

((I did a little research... at his full body and with his being skinny and all, I'm thinkin Phineas would have weighed something like 105 pounds in full form. So without legs, he'd be 88 pounds. I even found the right percentage of weight that applies to legs. I am such a nerd.
Anyhow, he shouldn't be hard to carry if you need to move along towards Yume over the weekend while I don't have internets. He won't wake up again til I get back. ^_^))

[[You ARE a sadist, keeping us all waiting you~
I wonder how much Shan weighs with those wings. She's pretty short...

I have to wait till post. I fear we've left MooMoo behind!]]

DustyDreamer 08-09-2008 12:45 AM

((Lolz))

Ani smiled at the compliment, "Thank you.." She said rather quietly. It seemed wierd to eat at a place where the man caused so many problems. She was now looking around her surrounding. The Circus had completely collapsed and disappeared behind them, so the forest around them was in clear view. She took another sip of the soup before realizing that there was none left in her plate.

Micheal had finished a while ago and had set his bowl back down on the ground near his feet. He was cleaning one of his daggers he had used to chop the vegetables with.

Steffox 08-11-2008 03:13 PM

((Wow, slow weekend! Moo, where are you, cow? I will eat you!!! >_> ))

MurasakiCrown 08-11-2008 04:04 PM

[[LOL You in the mood for meat too? Maybe you should go into the Fresh Meat forums?~ ]]

Shan stood outside for a few moments, ever grateful that she was no longer in the terrible state she'd been in when the whistle had been ringing. She was stiff and sore, but regaining control of herself at a proper pace. She sat on a nearby rock and had Yuki sit on her lap, putting her hands on his bare back. "So, will you tell me what happened?"

Understanding perfectly well what she meant, Yuki began to tell her what had happened back at the circus, from when Shan stood up to when everyone was brought here. Yuki hoped that his explanations were good enough.

Shan certainly thought they were, although she needed some time to take everything in. A lot had happened in a short period of time. Satisfaction rested somewhere in her heart. If the Dream Catcher had not been killed already, she would have done it herself without so much as flinching. And here in her arms was her soon, who would never once think about killing anyone, a pure little thing. She remained quiet and so did he. After some time she said, "I suppose I should thank him."

"You mean mister Micheal?" her son asked.

Shan nodded. "But I should check on Phineas first. He didn't look all that well when I left him." She waited for Yuki to stand up before standing up herself and then looked at him.

"I'll stay here," he said. "I'd like some fresh air."

"Alright dearest. Be careful," she said before heading back inside and into the master bedroom. She saw the boy lying there and her heart became heavy with pity. She saw turtle as well. He must be watching over him... Shan sat close to Phineas and touched his head gently, running her hand through his hair almost absently. The longer she looked at Phineas, the happier she was that the Catcher had been brought down. "Phineas," she said, with a small sigh, "you probably can't hear me, can you?"

Steffox 08-11-2008 04:55 PM

((*chomps on noobs* eww... raw.))

In his dream reality, Phineas was waiting for the DreamCatcher to tire of his cruel games. He closed his eyes tightly against the pain and tried to ride it out in the safety of his mind. The ringing in his ears drowned out thoughts of depression, instead distracting him from everything that wasn't the high-pitched whine.
Then, in the midst of the mindless ringing, he heard Shan's voice calling him, probably from heaven.
He knew that the DreamCatcher would take it as a sign that the torture was finally working, but he couldn't stop himself from crying.

In the reality that he had taken for a dream, silent tears escaped from his sleeping eyes.

((>_< I am so mean.))

Cows Go Moo 08-11-2008 05:00 PM

Kira stared at her cooling bowl of soup, taking a few sips at a time. Who knew that Ani and Micheal were a such a good cooks? She gazed at the area around her, noting how the circus had collapsed and this was pretty much all that was left. She yawned. She would need to sleep after she finished up her soup.

MurasakiCrown 08-11-2008 05:32 PM

[[LOL some of them are pretty good~
Meany~ ]]

Shan bent closer to Phineas, looking at him carefully and brushing his tears away. "Phineas, wake up. Please..." She shook him gently as her own fear increased. "Please," she said again. She was lying down now, holding him close. "For me, please," she pleaded. Soon enough she found she had to wipe her own tears away. Sadness and guilt poked at her like precise needles. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry... wake up. I won't leave you again, so please." She sobbed, trying to hold back and failing. I should never have left you. I should have gone looking....

[[No, we're not evil >w> ]]

Steffox 08-11-2008 05:58 PM

In his reality, Phineas felt himself slipping into unconsciousness, and Shan's voice was becoming more clear. He let himself drop from the world and sink into his dream.
In his dream, his eyes opened slowly and focused on Shan, who was crying. His heart ached at seeing her again. Dreaming of his dead friends made him want to sleep forever, except the ones where he watched them die, each one more horribly than the last.
He lightly placed a hand on either side of Shan's face to once again feel her warmth.
"Don't..." his voice was hoarse and barely above a whisper, lost after all the screaming and yelling he'd done. "...don't let me wake up."

MurasakiCrown 08-11-2008 06:13 PM

Shan felt her breath still. For a few moments she found herself unable to do anything else but cry more. She pulled Phineas to her and held her the same way she had when they'd first met, afraid of letting go. "You are awake, you silly child," she said, wiping more tears away. "I promise I won't leave you again," she added, kissing his forehead lightly.

Steffox 08-11-2008 06:40 PM

Phineas couldn't quite believe that what the Dream Shan said was true. He knew this was a dream, it had to be because she was dead in real life, and he'd never seen anything as strange as the room around him, which was as alien to him as the Sahara would be to an Eskimo.
But the kiss on his forehead was so real, and he'd never been able to dream the full comfort of Shan's embrace, no matter how hard he tried or how much he needed it.
The realization that the past day had been real crashed fully on him. He'd been turned into a dragon. He had eaten the DreamCatcher... His friends were all alive! The DreamCatcher had tried to hurt them, Shan had been... very powerfully upset.
The months behind him flipped, the dreams had to be understood as reality and the reality as dreams.
He felt his stomach turn a sick somersault in tandem with his mind. Phineas struggled out of Shan's arms and leaned over the side of the bed, heaving dryly until a few dribbles of the DreamCatcher's blood splattered onto the fancy rug below.

((I was going to make him throw up some human bits buuuuut, yeah, poor kid.))

MurasakiCrown 08-11-2008 07:04 PM

[[It's probably for the best you didn't~
oh... I was inking a new drawing of Yuki on photoshop, but there was an error, and all my lineart disappeared!!!.... *pouts* ]]

Shan stood over him immediately, ripping off a piece of the fancy bed covers to wipe the corners of his mouth. The Dream Catcher wouldn't miss it anyway. "It's over now, Phineas," she whispered to him softly, pushing hair away from his face. She noticed it was considerably longer; of course it would be. "You're a fine young dragon, Phineas, and don't you ever think otherwise," she said, touching his cheek. "Whenever you feel ready to tell me what happened, let me know. I'll always listen." She sat next to him at the edge of the bed, managing to stop crying for his sake.

Steffox 08-11-2008 07:27 PM

((Curse you, Photoshop!!! >_<! *shakes fist* My CAD keeps crashing whenever I do a hatch fill on a certain piece of wall. So annoying.))

Phineas squeezed his eyes shut, breathing heavily and occasionally spitting little blobs of blood onto the carpet.
"He said you were all dead," he rasped after a moment. "And then... and then I killed HIM." his stomach turned again but nothing came up. The dragon form had been blazing away through the caloric value of what he'd eaten, the stress setting his metabolism into overdrive and absorbing the whole meal so that now all that remained was the blood. If Phineas had continued eating he probably could have stayed in his dragon form for a longer time.
"I used to like how humans taste," he said, straining the last of his voice to say what he wanted to say aloud, "I cannot... do not... anymore. I don't think I can go back, Shan."

DustyDreamer 08-11-2008 07:40 PM

Ani had finished eating and had placed was in the process of washing the bowl in the tiny skin that was in the trailer, she was sure it was more for the bathroom, but it didnt matter. Wiping her hands she went outside to clean up around the campfire Micheal had made. She noticed that he was sitting by his lonesome looking at nothing in particular. She walked over to him and picked up the empty bowl that was sitting by his feet, "Why is it that I feel I missed something?" She said looking at his serious face.

Micheal cast her glance before looking at the spot his eyes were fixated on. "What do you mean?" He asked back. "When I was seemingly dead." She replied. He nodded, "Ah..yes." He said his finger rubbing his chin in thought, "Yu..The DreamWeaver contacted me through That little boy and just told me to give Shan a message. Basically no more slacking off." He said.

Ani studied his face, there was more to that little encounter she was sure. She knew..more than she should know about Micheal and the DreamWeavers relationship. It made her wonder exactly how Micheal was before he became a fallen. "You okay?" Asked Micheal looking at her, Ani snapped her attention back to when he asked, "Yes...fine.." she said looking down before she left to go back to the trailer to wash his dish.

MurasakiCrown 08-11-2008 07:41 PM

Shan's face hardened. That was a terrible thing to tell someone, especially to Phineas. Holding him steady, Shan said to him, "You don't have to if you don't want to dear. It is all up to you, and no one will force you into something you don't wish to do." She steadied herself a bit. "Now," she said, "what would you like to do?" Shan would have loved to have him sleep, bud didn't know what the young boy wanted do to, and sleeping didn't feel like the best option.

Steffox 08-11-2008 07:50 PM

Phineas managed a crooked smile, flashing his bloodstained and rubbed-down teeth, though it was a halfhearted smile and didn't reach his eyes. "I would very much like..." the last bit of what he wanted came out as a croak, so he rallied and tried again "my clothes." He was still wearing a mutilated pile of rags, which had been a rough pant at some point, but was so embarassingly awful that no one had really bothered to waste time being embarassed by it.
He spit another wad of blood onto the floor and wiped his face with his arm.
"Where...?" he looked around at the room, finally realizing that, yes, it was real.

((When is a dragon not a dragon?

When he's a little hoarse!
heheheee...

MurasakiCrown 08-11-2008 08:18 PM

"Ah,yes" said Shan, "I'll need my son for that." She called out to Yuki with her mind, not feeling at all like shouting or even standing up. She couldn't leave Phineas here, even with Turtle keeping an eye out. And a mouth. While she waited, she ripped out another, much larger piece from the cover and wiped him clean, or as clean as she could get him.

Yuki had been Ani and Micheal, although he had stopped himself from listening in, when his mother called out to him. He went back inside and took the package to the bedroom. His mother hadn't told him Phineas was awake. "Oh!" he blurted out before he could stop himself. "Hello Phineas," Yuki said, suddenly embarrassed. "Um... I was worried about you..." He was so distracted he almost didn't notice the blood on the floor. He went over to his mother carefully and handed her the package, knowing better than to ask questions, although many were ready at the edge of his mind.

Shan opened the package with care. Hidden within the clothes were the two blades she'd continued to work on even after Phineas had one. If anyone else had opened it, they might have found that they were missing a finger or three. On the clothes she had put in a bit of magic, so that it was impossible for Phineas to get cut by his own blade. She pulled the gleaming blades away carefully before fully unfolding the clothes and set them aside. The blades themselves were the unmistakable work of an angel, for anyone who had seen an angel's work before. They were engraved with a small scenery of a forest. When put together, they made a full picture. The edge of the blade was extremely sharp. Shan looked for the cloth that could not be pierced by them, which had not at all come from Phineas's clothing. This cloth she too had made herself, and it was meant to make the blades easier to carry if one did not intend to sleep with them on, which would have been a disastrous idea. She wrapped the blades in the cloth but did not conceal them completely. The clothes she carefully unfolded on her own lap. As good as new. She hadn't expected anything different, but it had been a while since she'd laid eyes on them.

[[Aw, Dusty Posted at the same time as me and I didn't see D8;

Oh, and MooMoo and I pictured Micheal in a pink apron. We thought you should know~ ]]

DustyDreamer 08-11-2008 09:07 PM

((LOLZ! Pink apron? XD
Im gonna be mean too...give Ani some heartache as well..shhh...its a secret... Merwahahaa...))

Ani had finished washing the dish when she saw Yuki head inside to the back room. Glancing in she caught sight of an awaken Phineas, he was looking gaunt...but he was semi clean thanks to Shan and her scrubbing. She smiled lightly, when the time was right, then Phineas would be greeted by everyone. Waking up from such an ordeal, she knew it would be best if he saw the one that was most dear to him, she knew she would want that as well if she was in the same situation.

Micheal had his mind miles away, miles and miles away deep into the underground of his memories. He was for some reason reliving happier days, sunshine filled days, laughter and love. He sighed at his foolishness when he was a teenager. It was so long ago, he was now as old as the some of the trees in this forest, older even, but even so he can recall every touch, taste and smell, every scenery. He scratched his chin in thought as he remembered a cat he had when he was younger. It was a huge creature, would be more like a tiger, but it was as harmless as a butterfly. After he was forced from the heavens, he wondered now what had happened to old Butterball.

Steffox 08-11-2008 09:20 PM

Turtle, who had been silent and was hiding under the bed the whole time since Shan had come into the room (he was afraid of startling Phineas after that other outburst) poked his head out from under the covers and grinned at Yuki before darting back into his secret cave.

Phineas's heart leapt at Yuki's presence. Yet another friend proved alive! His eyes were moist with happy tears as he answered the other boy's greeting. "Yuki... I was worried also." He had to answer in a whisper, no longer able to make an actual sound come from his throat.
He watched in excitement as Shan unpacked his clothing. He had felt like a wild animal without his clothes, which had felt so much a part of him for the few hours he'd worn them. He reached out and slid out the tunic from the pile in Shan's lap. Phineas pressed the cloth to his face, inhaled deeply of the smell, then hugged it to his bare chest, relishing the feeling against his bruised skin.

((what would my coworkers think if they caught me writing this stuff??))

MurasakiCrown 08-11-2008 10:21 PM

[[@ Steffie | That you're a perfectly sane young woman with a bit of spare time? But somehow your question made me smile.

@ Dusty | Okay, I'll shhh~
Micheal is so oddly cute. heehee~ Like that person you just love to piss off because it's so darned funny >w>]]

Shan touched the boy's shoulder gently, unsure about what to say. She felt like crying again but was holding back. "Anything else, Phineas?" she asked softly, knowing she shouldn't ask him to speak for much longer.

Yuki smiled at Phineas, and then jumped up slightly. Turtle had surprised him. He returned the dog's grin before looking back up again. The sight of Turtle poking his head from under the bed like that was terribly funny.

DustyDreamer 08-11-2008 10:32 PM

((Lolz..))

Ani waited outside the trailer, her arms folded across her chest. The fire in front of her danced in the dark night. They all should try and get some shut eye. She was sure that they wouldnt have a night 'off' like this until they rescued the DreamWeaver. She found herself glancing over at Micheal before her eyes quickly darted away to focus on some other inanimate object.

Steffox 08-11-2008 11:46 PM

((Not TOO sane, I hope. An excess of either mental state makes one extremely boring.))

Setting the tunic to the side, Phineas reached for Shan's hand, taking it lightly between his and setting a small, dry kiss on it, like a butterfly alighting on a blade of grass, barely bending it.
When he looked up he was blushing, the rose-red blossoms high on his cheeks and looking brighter than usual on his unusually paled skin.
"I have all I need." he managed. His golden eyes looked slightly rusted, a thin ring of red between the pupil and the iris, but there were the faint traces of a shine there as well.

MurasakiCrown 08-12-2008 12:15 AM

[[Perfectly sane, but not completely~ just how I like them~ << why does it sound like I'm going to eat you?

OMG. Why did I give Yuki a CHAIN? Linearting it is killing me. ]]

Having been caught completely off guard, Shan's cheeks flushed a deep magenta, but she was smiling. "I'm glad," she said, holding his hand." She traced the one of his more fresh scars with her eyes. It was disappearing quickly enough, but the thought of how many more he must have had before caused her smile to wane. The bandaging at his legs had come undone too. "Maybe we should get you cleaned up so you can get some more rest, Phineas." And maybe all of them could relish in a shower or bath before heading out again. The Dream Catcher must have a rather nice bathroom. That door on the other side of the room was probably it. "Yuki, can you bring Ani here for me?"

Yuki nodded. He set off and found Ani a few moments later, a little distracted, it seemed. "Miss Ani, mama is in the bedroom. She asked me to take you to her," he said, not sure if he should interrupt whatever it was she was thinking.
