and i saw thing on msn on making meat without animals well that wont stop me from being a vegetarian(as they said[just wanted to add that])

`Zombie 04-29-2008 08:50 PM

I'm a vegetarian too. So of course I don't. XD I don't eat it because I hate the fact that so many animals get killed each day just to be eaten.

slickie 04-29-2008 09:05 PM

I eat meat. I think it's naturally better for your body and has certain things in it that your body needs to be healthy. I dont mind if others choose not to eat meat. It is their choice. i disagree with the way they treat the animals, but that's not going to stop me from eating meat.

I saw that too, I think that would stop me from eating meat. I don't want a steak that's been grown in a petrie dish. :o

I have nothing against vegetarians, vegans, or diets, period.
However, I think the whole "I'm doing it to respect the animals" thing is kind of stupid.

Animals eat eachother.
Animals maim eachother.
Yet, when humans do it, it's considered "bad." I don't get it.
Why deny nature over our moral systems, which only exist to give us some illusion of order in this chaotic and uncertain world? Why deem it necessary to be tributing to a cause that doesn't make a bit of sense, and could never hope to actually achieve anything, in order to be satisfied with our own choices?

Ebil 04-30-2008 08:24 AM

I eat meat because I like the taste and because I feel that humans were designed to eat meat and that's why the majority of us have eaten it (when able to get it) for a heck of a long time.
I have no problems with vegetarians/vegans as a whole. If someone wants to eat different things to me, that's nothing for me to get excited about. If they're happy doing what they're doing, then good for them.
Sure some individuals are a bit extreme and insist on trying to "convert" me, but I just put them in the same category as the extreme religious people who also can not seem to accept that I have my own views and beliefs.

I have my own views on what I will and wont eat. If I've met it and liked it or had it as a pet, then I wont eat it. So I don't eat fish, dogs or humans. Other than that, anything else is fair game. I almost adopted a bull a few years ago and I'm thankful I didn't, as I love beef.

Witch 04-30-2008 07:52 PM

I like to eat meat,
because I love the juiciness and rich flavor of meat.

I have bad teeth, so I can't eat too much of them.
But when I get the chance to eat them,
specially when the meat are cooked nicely and tender,
I will definitely try to eat meat.

Sorry, I think I'm the opposite of you. ^^;;;

I'm almost never eat vegetable.

I love plants,
but that's not the reason.

It's just I don't like the taste of cooked vegetables.

I can eat salad occasionally though.
But not on a full course meal,
any kind of cooked or boiled vegetables.
I try my best to avoid them.

I eat meat and I think it's delicious, though I can't understand what vegetarians are thinking about this, I mean if you have meat on your plate, it's just food then.
I was always interested to know how vegetarians think when they see meat.

Claudia 04-30-2008 10:32 PM

What vegetarians think about meat, depends oh why someone is vegetarian in the first place. I cannot speak on the behalf of everyone, so I won't.

When I see typical factory farm meat or meat from intelligent sentient animals, I think of the cruelity, environmental harm and wasted resources. Factory farm meat bothers me.

When I see non factory farm meat, it depends on what kind of animal it is. At this point my reaction is more like finding a dead animal outside. It's just a dead piece of animal that someone who has decided to become an omnivore will eat.

Sherbet 04-30-2008 10:48 PM

I don't eat red meats like beef or pork, but I eat white meats like fish and poultry. I just don't like the taste of red meat, simple as that.

Role_play_Girl 04-30-2008 11:16 PM

I eat meat because there is no point not to i mean i love animals to death but still it's not going to make a chance...

But that was when we respectfully hunted animals and killed them for supplies and what not. Now all we do is, is throw a baby cow that can barely see into a pen so small that it can't turn around to lay down. That is what I have a problem with.

I understand this very much. This is why I think the Americans should adopt the Native American way of hunting and what-not. Not only are they conservitive, they treat everyone (and everything, for that matter) with respect.:)

Scott 05-01-2008 01:25 AM

Steak tastes good, pork tastes good, chicken tastes good, thats enough for me

Ariel 05-01-2008 01:27 AM

I eat meat. It's so delicious! I could never give it up.

Witch 05-01-2008 04:13 AM

Oh yeah, I read someone made a post previously
comparing why people eat meat but not eating pet's meat like dog's.
Actually in some other cultures,
there are people who eat dog meat.

About animal farm and stuff,
isn't the concept is just like how animals stocking up their food
for winter or for their other family members?

In my opinion,
if we want to treat animals with respect,
we shouldn't waste our food.
I mean,
if the animals are killed because we want to eat them,
then when eating them we must only use part of them and dump the rest,
we must eat them clean,
the whole body and even the bones,
maybe even throw the parts we don't eat to feed another animals,
but not letting lots of left over from them
to piled in the garbage to rot.
Not only it's a waste,
that's what's disrespectful to the animal's life.

Speaking of Native American's way of living,
I think they're also have the same view
about eating and using animals with respect,
as in eating them clean at proper portion
and using their skin for clothing.

Claudia 05-01-2008 03:21 PM

The slaughterhouse industry already uses most of the animals they kill. But on ethical grounds ( respect), that's besides the point. Once the animal is dead, they don't care what happens to them.
I mean if someone killed your companion animal and used every part as opposed to dumping the whole body somewhere, you'd still be upset right?.
So using the whole animal is more of an environmental concern for resources.

meat

i don't really know who doesn't eat meat. i would die if i didn't eat meat. i really would i eat to much meat probally. i don't really know but i couldn't live without meat

Thoth Star 05-01-2008 09:33 PM

I eat meat! OM NOM NOM.
And why? It tastes good and is a good source of Omega 3 Fatty Acids!
Actually, I have a vegan friend... Its cool. Sometimes we have little mini debates about the negative and positives of eating meat... She usually wins. I just don't eat meat in front of her, cause it grosses her out. Thats about it.

yanyan13 05-02-2008 12:41 AM

Being vegetarian's the way to go, imho :D It's healthy, and.. it's healthy! :insane: But unfortunately, I've been a carnivore for my whole life and I'm going to find it difficult to join the other side

I've got a friend who's a vegetarian, he brings home-cooked lunch to school, and I sometimes find some food I've never seen or tried before - I've tried them artificial-meat-things (not really meat) and they taste great :D ~just sharing :D

`Amber 05-02-2008 12:52 AM

Who doesn't eat meat? Vegetarians

Who is vegan? ...Not I.

If you don't, then why? Meat is ridiculously good.

How do you deal with meat eaters? OMG! I lub them!

Meat eaters, how do deal with vegetarians/vegans? Vegan is people too~

Meat eaters, do you agree/disagree, like/dislike non-meat eaters? Some of them are just stupid. Some people will eat chicken, eggs and drink milk - That's NOT vegetarian~ That's ignorant. But, some people do it for their friends - Which is also stupid.

Law 05-03-2008 03:12 PM

I like meat because I believe that we were born with incisors and a stomach able to digest animal protein for a reason. ;)
That, and it is delicious. I like veggies, but I do not like the idea of surviving on rabbit food or bird seed.

I suppose the reason I still eat meat is because all this talk of "meat is murder" is really all quite ridiculous to me. Animals eat each other all the time, right? And what are humans but mammals? We're no better, just higher on the food chain.

And don't even try, "How would you like it if someone came along and tried to eat YOU?!" because I almost lost my hand from being bitten by a big ol' alligator. D: Dead serious.

And besides- people eat people sometimes. It's all part of the food chain.

Claudia 05-03-2008 04:18 PM

For most people living in developed countries eating other animals is different, we have a choice if we want to eat meat or not. So I would say we are not just like other animals who eat meat.
Nether do other animals torture each other in factory farms. They live free lives until they are killed by predators.

I would say unless you actually go hunting, the method most people use to obtain meat is far removed from the food chain.

Deadlove 05-03-2008 04:45 PM

-Who doesn't eat meat?

i eat meat

-Who is vegan?

sorry i am not

-Meat eaters, how do deal with vegetarians/vegans?

i do not deal with them i have no problem if you eat meat or if you do not. so i do not have to deal with anything it is up to you the way you want to eat and only you so why should i care. oh and my older sister does not eat meat.

-Meat eaters, do you agree/disagree, like/dislike non-meat eaters?

like i said befor it is up to you and eating meat or not eating meat tells me only a little about yourself. i like to know the person not what you eat .

there is a lot of differences between how animals kill for their food and how we kill for our food ... in the wild ... predators attack the prey ... the prey have a chance to defend themselves ..

---------

now in the farm .. there is no predator and prey ... the farmers simply put a cow up and kill it (in the short term) ... the cows used for milk are put on machines to suck it out of them ... no more "old days" where the farmer had to sit down and do it by hand ...

chickens have their beaks cut off so they cant defend themselves ... when they are to be killed, their heads get cut off.

anywhere near the same as it is in the wild? I think not ... thats not to go into what happens to the other animals that are used for meat .. thats just a tiny example compared to everything else that goes on in the farm.

Caroline 05-04-2008 12:49 AM

luls I avoided this thread for a long time because the reasons people gave for why eating meat is natural were so ridiculous that I didn't know how to even begin replying. I'll start now though. :insane:

Humans have alkaline-based saliva, which is characteristic of herbivores... carnivores have acid-based saliva.

Like a_shy_girl_1999 said, the way we obtain meat is nothing like how animals do it in the wild. Do you go out and hunt down animals yourself? Doubt it, you probably buy processed chunks from the grocery store in which case you contribute to an industry that keeps animals in tiny spaces, literally feeds them shit, and murders them.

It's not just ANIMALS that are murdered either; your fellow human beings get killed and severely injured in the process of getting that meat to you too. It is one of the most dangerous jobs in the US. Meatpacking plants have extremely quick production lines which leads to accidents and lower sanitation standards. Some workers resort to using a highly dangerous and addictive drug, methamphetamine, to keep up with production line speeds. I could segue into the meatpacking giants' negative effects on traditional small family farms, the economy, public health, the fast food industry, the government, etc. but hopefully you get the idea already.
