That's the thing. All of the mineral make-up I've seen is pricey. I don't have the money to spend on it, honestly.

I've never seen a Pro-active knock-off. o.o I should look for one, honestly. I did see a Pro-Active vending machine in a mall, though. It makes me giggle whenever I see it.

I know how the trial and erro rthing goes. That's the way it was with my hair. Either the mousse was too stiff and just made my hair look dirty, or it didn't hold at all. I finally found two mousse brands that I like. Of course, both are kinds I can only get from a salon/my mother. ^^;

*Pops in*
Spectro Acne Care is what I use, it's got one of the highest amounts of Benzoyl Peroxide in a cleanser. I think it was 5%?
My mom brought it back from the pharmacy she works at.
I don't usually get much acen/many pimples, but this stuff is like face crack.
It absorbs quickly, and it leaves your skin dry if you have oily skin, even if just for a little while. XD

fiarra 05-04-2009 04:23 AM

*sits and watches conversation* I am so clueless about makeup and the like. After I got through my teens, my skin has been nice to me so I don't have issues. But then I also don't wear any sort of make-up/skin product.. just sunscreen during the summer.

Ferra 05-04-2009 04:47 AM

I wear cover-up. >__>; I fail at taking care of my skin since I'm lazy, so I usually have a handful of blotches. It's never been bad enough that I need to do much about it though since a little bit of makeup pretty much masks everything.

I've never been in a friend group that was big on make-up though, so I just use it mostly for cover up. It makes my mom happy. *shrugs*

fairywaif 05-04-2009 11:48 AM

You're all going to hate me, but I don't have oily skin. For a teenager it's amazingly clear. There is some stuff in the bathroom for my sister. I know the Swiss apricot scrub stuff works pretty well when I do get break-outs. But it may not work on someone with oiler skin. You may also want to find a concealer that helps with oil control. I have some stuff from almay that works.

I don't really wear a lot of make-up though. Maybe you should stick to eye and lip stuff and skip blush and bronzer? Would that even work?

HIM_ROCK 05-04-2009 05:42 PM

Lucky peoples with oily skin. My skin is so dry I've ended up with a patch that like a burn on my cheek bone again.

Mineral make-up is in the cheeper end of branded make-up but they don't have that much choice.

*rolls into the thread*

Hai guys! I just got done with the second weekend of doing the soundboard for my school's play, so now I get to sit back and relax and... OH WAIT! WE HAVE THE SPRING CONCERT THIS FRIDAY!!! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKSOCKS!

>.<

fairywaif 05-05-2009 02:50 AM

Mine's on the 14th. Mr. Cheeseman has said he won't post who gets into Syndicated Sound until after the awards banquet. He's trying to cut down on drama. I doesn't really matter because I'm a senior, but I hope my sister gets in!

I won't relax until summer starts. I still need to look for a job....

fiarra 05-05-2009 03:26 AM

Kev: At least you can pat yourself on the back having finished the play. :)

General Lee Outrageous 05-05-2009 05:28 AM

@ Fairy: Cheeseman is a fantastic name, ranking just below Mr. Mustachio.

@ Fia: My English teacher told me to do that. Unfortunately, because of my surgery, that'd give me shitloads of pain. Pain so great, it can only be measured in expletives.

fairywaif 05-05-2009 11:15 AM

And his first name is Charles so he can call himself Chuck Cheeseman. Yes, his name is filled with awesomeness.
Oh, that sounds terrible... That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger!(?)

roocee 05-05-2009 02:11 PM

Morning everyone. Wow, I expected to be behind way more than 4 pages in my absense. How are you all doing?

fiarra 05-05-2009 06:24 PM

Kev: Um... well then you can.... I dunno. Eat a cookie in celebration? T_T

General Lee Outrageous 05-05-2009 11:02 PM

Yay cookies!

I'm bored.

roocee 05-06-2009 03:53 PM

*throws more cookies to Kevin*

A lot of it is trial and error. Look for cleansers that have salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, sulfer and AHA or glycolic acids. Not all of those ingredients, but at least one of them. I'd suggest blotting powders and I'm really pleased with how well the proactiv knock-off I picked up at drug store is working. The more you strip the oil from your skin and mess with the pH level, the more oily it will be - so not the stuff that has a ton of alcohol in it. I'm 43 and still have to tweak my make-up and skincare. I've been trying to find decent products at the drugstore so I can eventually replace the spendy stuff I've been using. Not only do I have oily skin, but I'll break out in hives with some of the fragrances added to products, so I have to be careful or I'll have a rash that will last a good week or so. Oddly enough, I've had some pretty good results with Mary Kay's mineral foundation, but not the skin care.

Yeah, I did try proactiv. It worked better than any other product I'd tried, but it wasn't making me completely better.
Now I'm trying a similar product that can be bought at the stores (and is quite a bit cheaper) called Acne Free. It's working a little better than the proactiv, but the moisterizer doesn't moisterize at all. It just dries. Which is fine, but I have to find a REAL moisterizer to use in conjuction with it. It is sooo hard to find just a plain moisterizer. They're all more acne stuff or anti-aging. I did find ONE that wasn't for any particular thing, but my face has been oily since I began using it. ;-;
I don't have much problems with actual pimples. Those usually only come if I neglect my face-washing routine, or during PMS. What I have problems with are blackheads. My nose is coated in them, and they are so hard to deal with. I empty them all about once a week, and the acne-free stuff has actually gotten them to shrink some (something that has not ever happened before), but they still fill right back up. ><

Is it? I don't think it cost too much when I bought it. Just got it at walmart. But then again, I'm not that happy with it. xDD

And a proactiv vending machine? That's... odd. xD

Oh, I get that too. Especially in winter. Skin that is PAINFULLY dry, but at the same time, has a coating of oil over the top. >< My skin can't make up its mind.

Thanks. xD It does need to be changed, though. We've had this one for a long time...

HIM_ROCK 05-06-2009 05:42 PM

I can't put anything on my skin when I get burn like patches because it's so painful.

Cherry might want to try Coal Face soap from Lush I've found it helps when my skin gets really dry and with black heads. I've found it's alot better than using some of these black head scrubs.

fairywaif 05-06-2009 06:55 PM

I got a 84 on my practice AP psych exam! If I do that well on the actual test I'm set!

I have battle of the books tomorrow. I am going to know my bkkos down cold! And authors. Those author questions are so hard...

General Lee Outrageous 05-06-2009 08:19 PM

The way is ajar.
It was made by those who are terrible builders,
And they refuse to fix it.
The way is ajar.

fairywaif 05-07-2009 12:19 AM

Is this poem time?
A poem about Scrubs:
Oh Scrubbles
you're so fun to watch,
you fill my heart with bubbles.

You make me laugh,
even when I cry,
and sometimes I just sigh....

Flink 05-07-2009 01:16 AM

Cherry: As stated. I think I mentioned the vending machine gives me a fit of giggles every time I see it.. People always look at me odd in the mall when that happens. But I can't help it.

Now, the Dippin' Dots vending machine. THAT makes me happy. Very happy. But then sad because I usually don't have the money to spare for them. XD

fairywaif 05-07-2009 02:29 AM

That reminds me of a time when I was on a trip. There was an ice cream bar machine and I ordered orange. Just my luck, the machine gets stuck, so not only do I not get one, but no one behind me did either! I felt SO bad. And everyone was saying if it would happen to anyone, it'd be her. "cause it's true. Things like that happen to me.

Dipping dots is so good!

General Lee Outrageous 05-07-2009 02:44 AM

Mine was actually a parody of a quote from a book/movie. 1000 not-Lee points to whomever gets it.

Ferra 05-07-2009 03:41 AM

I always show up for the points. ;D

But that would be a parody of the Lord of the Rings, if I'm not mistaken. The line in particular from the 2nd book/movie:
Quote:

The way is shut.
It was made by those who are Dead.
And the Dead keep it.
The way is shut.
