Silver needs to FIND work. OTL

I could go to multiple places, but I think I'm going to end up at a Tim Horton's, or the market. xD

Freetime would be the major turnoff for me, but I love the monetary aspect of work.

Flink 08-23-2009 06:16 PM

Flink really didn't have a choice. She wanted a job, she needs to get out of the house and she's tired of feeling like she's not doing anything at all with her life. <.<

But the only place hiring was a Wal-Mart 50 miles away. As such, Flink took the job even though she applied to the three other Wal-Marts that were a maximum of 40 miles away.

Either she wants to transfer to a closer one, or she wants another job. She really can't decide. Especially since she really likes the people at the store she works at now. XD

Silver Magi 08-23-2009 06:19 PM

xD;
I'd try to get to one that's closer. ._.
My mom used to have to do an hour and a half commutes back and forth to Halifax, before I was born, since she was a nurse at the major hospital. xP

Now she works like, 10 minutes from our house at a loacl pharmacy. c:

The market/Tim Horton's I'd apply to are about 20-15 minutes away by driving, so that might not be too bad, and since my cousin (She's more like a sister. xP)
works at the Tim's, I could carpool with her sometimes, and that would make matters easier. x____x

Flink 08-23-2009 06:21 PM

THere's nothing really close to Flink that's hiring, acually. Again, those other three Wal-Marts are some of the closest businesses that could at one point be hiring. When Flink was applying, those other stores were on hiring freeze along with everything else in those cities.

Coming up in November, Flink can transfer. In the meantime she's actually considering applying for another job, even though it'll seem really weird since she's only been working there for 90 days. x.x

Currently, most of her pay goes to gas. XD

HIM_ROCK 08-23-2009 06:28 PM

HIM needs a job but HIM doesn't like people.

Cherry Who? 08-23-2009 07:00 PM

I need a job too, but I've been unable to get one. >> I've been putting in applications since I was 16 (*is 18*)
Granted, I'm not putting in applications every single day or something, but... this is too hard. D: I've applied to all the places I could think of. EVEN WALMART WOULD NOT HIRE ME. I HAVE APPLIED MULTIPLE TIMES.

HIM_ROCK 08-23-2009 07:31 PM

Most supermarkets won't take people on unless they think you're there for the long term.

Most places won't take me because I didn't get a very good grade for my maths. I can add, subtract, times and divide anything else and I'm not very good with.

Flink 08-23-2009 07:48 PM

You have to keep trying with Wal-Mart, Cherry. Flink's applied there numerous times before she got hired. They're not -always- hiring, contrary to popular belief. XD

Most places won't hire people who have never worked anymore. That's what Flink's problem was. Or rather, she worked but had been job hunting while the local economy was so bad that people were only firing, so she didn't get a job by the time people were hiring and she'd been considered out of work too long, over three months. <.<

HIM_ROCK 08-23-2009 08:00 PM

That's true they won't hire those who haven't been in work or if you have mental health problems.

Which means I'm totally done for yay for discrimination...

Flink 08-23-2009 08:08 PM

What mental health problems do you have? o.O

HIM_ROCK 08-23-2009 08:09 PM

I have depression and depression happens to be the mental health problem that people just don't understand.

I also have anxiety but people seem to understand that with the panic attacks and the hyperventilation.

Flink 08-23-2009 08:28 PM

Flink didn't tell them that she has depression. XD Though, she did kind of call into work "depressed." Thankfully it's all automated and she even had a doctor's excuse. -cackle-

>.> It was staying home or breaking down at the slightest thing saying that the world's better off without Flink and Flinky crying like a little sissy. D:

Now the only thing Flink has to deal with are fun side effects of medicines~ She gets to wake up every day and decide if she wants to be paranoid or randomly think of new and fun ways to commit suicide. (Just think of ways, she'd never do it. It's almost like a hobby and it only happens when Flink's alone for a long period of time and bored.)

Which happens a lot when Flink goes to work early in the mornings, oddly enough. XD Though, Flink also sings to herself, talks to herself, thinks of random games with the alphabet (like musician names and one song by them that also begins with that letter...)

HIM_ROCK 08-23-2009 08:30 PM

My meds have the best side effect ever...Hair loss.

I read that and was like I'M GOING TO GO BALD!!!

Flink 08-23-2009 08:32 PM

Flink already has that as a symptom of something she has. Her hair hasn't fallen out yet... but she's pretty sure it is one day since it's one of the few things about her that's physically appealing to most people. XD

Some of the side effects are just ridiculous. XD

Cherry Who? 08-23-2009 08:35 PM

Yeah, I've never had a job, have not gone to public highschool, do not yet have my GED, and up until about a month ago, was a minor.
I'M SO HIREABLE. >>

HIM_ROCK 08-23-2009 08:36 PM

I got asked if I was good at taking pills when I went to the doctors they said nothing about taking capsules.

Then again I can choke on any pills all pills are out to get me I'm sure of it.

Cherry you can still get a job it's just you have to prove that you want to and can learn while you're working. People just take that because you've got no qualifications you can't do anything, which isn't always the case there are many reasons why people might not have qualifications.

The way I look at it is this certificate says I can do english, it doesn't mean I can use it in a practical way.

Flink 08-23-2009 08:41 PM

Flink likes those jobs that are the LOWEST of the low.. yet they require 15 years of experience. XD

HIM_ROCK 08-23-2009 08:45 PM

HIM has just figured out a way she can work with people but not with people. HIM shall work with the dead.

fairywaif 08-23-2009 10:16 PM

My sister almost took a medication that might have given her diabetes. She's looking for alternatives. That would have been rather bad, especially since both our grandfathers had diabetes. Most of my medications are fairly symptom free, thankfully.

I have bipolar, so I have you guys beat! As long as I don't list that I might be fine. Of course, I don't have any job experience so...

@HIM- You're going to be a mortician?

Cherry Who? 08-23-2009 10:18 PM

HIM - Or you could just be a stocker or something. xD Work in the back. The only people you'd have to deal with would be your coworkers.

Fairy - You've got bipolar? I'm sorry. I believe my boyfriend has a very mild form of it - I'm not sure. All I know is that when it flares up, it's really bad. ><

I don't have a name for what's wrong with me. I'm just fucked up. xD I think it's just awful self esteem and some mild OCD. I dunno, though.

fairywaif 08-23-2009 10:29 PM

Well, I used to get truly terrible around my period, but I changed to lithium and now it's easy sailing. And I think that plus the resperidol has made it so it's well under control. But yeah, it was pretty bad when it flared up.

Cherry Who? 08-24-2009 12:18 AM

I'm not sure how yours presented itself, or whether or not you're familiar with the various ways bipolar can present itself. But I'm curious - do you know if it's normal for a person with bipolar to have long stretches of time (say, 2 months) where they're fairly "normal," but then have a month of the more typical symptoms?
My boyfriend has not been officially diagnosed, but that's what he gets. When he has the symptoms, it's very bipolarish, but then he'll go long periods of time without any of that.
I know you're not an expert on every type of bipolar, but you probably know a bit more than I do. xD

XxXshizuki-chanXxX 08-24-2009 12:22 AM

i know not of medical terms, but i know some people with some MAJOR mood swings and it gets very annoying

Jennifer 08-24-2009 02:44 AM

Hi there, everyone. Anyone around? :)

Silver Magi 08-24-2009 02:46 AM
