I was like that with The Hobbit. I read almost the entire thing, I think I only had a chapter or two left... and then I just stopped. I have no clue why.

I just finished Perdido Street Station by China Miévillel. So awesome.

HIM_ROCK 04-22-2011 07:16 PM

HIM needs to read the final Harry Potter book.

fairywaif 04-22-2011 08:00 PM

I'm reading The Wind-Up Bird Chronicles and I'm carrying around in paperback Dune and Fools Moon (the second Dresden Files book). Actually, those three books pretty much sum up much of my reading. Sci-fi, fantasy and magical realism. Delicious.

Also, what is this thing with bananas ? Are they superhero bananas with capes?

Also, also, I want you to know that vgrace spent a good ten minutes just figuring out how to do the fancy thing on that name.

You will find this link to be both helpful and informative.

I finished reading Kelsey Grammer's memoir. Seemed to me that he wrote it much too soon, he should have waited until... well, about now to write it. He wrote it in 95. So many things have happened since then that he needs to awkwardly touch on before launching into a story about a dog! (That plus a weirdly pretentious tone was basically the book. Turns out he kind of is Frasier.)

fairywaif 04-22-2011 09:14 PM

That was amazing. I feel like I should feel like that was a waste of my time but I don't. It was AWESOME.

Cherry Who? 04-23-2011 02:23 AM

Preeeeecisely.

I know many of me Hoffies still live at home. Do many of you do your own cooking? I have been lately, and it's kind of fun, gives me a sense of accomplishment. I'm sure that goes away after a while, but damn if I'm not proud of this stir fry.

Cardinal Biggles 04-23-2011 07:09 AM

I've been meaning to ask, how's the vegetarianism going? I'm not good about checking up on these things...

Cherry Who? 04-23-2011 05:23 PM

It's going veggietastic. Slowly building up a repertoire of recipes and so forth. Haven't been able to switch cheeses yet, though. I don't think any of the cheeses on the list are sold here. :(

Cardinal Biggles 04-23-2011 06:48 PM

Well, the list isn't comprehensive. Are there any cheeses from more local dairies that you store carries? They might have a more sympathetic approach.

Cherry Who? 04-23-2011 10:37 PM

There might be. Unfortunately that sort of thing tends to be expensive, something we can't afford... but I should do some more research on it. At least I've been able to avoid gelatin, though.

Cherry Who? 04-24-2011 05:02 AM

Sngawwwww- hmph huh whuh whozza... Oh holy hell, where am I? :gonk:

Cardinal Biggles 04-24-2011 05:12 AM

The forest of doom? Watch out for the black rider!

Cherry Who? 04-24-2011 05:17 AM

I'm pretty sure you're referencing Lord of the Rings there, but just so you know, when I googled it the top result was a Mighty Boosh thing.

Wh... Is there an owl on my head?! :gonk:

Cardinal Biggles 04-24-2011 05:30 AM

It was a Mighty Boosh thing, silly. There are no coincidences when it comes to me and The Boosh.

Cherry Who? 04-24-2011 05:46 AM

Oh, well then... I know that was a Boosh reference, but some Lord of the Rings stuff came up when I googled it.
FIXED IT.

I... uhm... bought a plant today?

Cardinal Biggles 04-24-2011 05:51 AM

Well, that's probably inaccurate. There probably are coincidences. Wonderful, wonderful coincidences -twirls around-

Cool beans, what kind? Bradford Pear Tree?

That shirt seems to accent the avatar's bosom more than most other things...

Cherry Who? 04-24-2011 05:58 AM

Yeah, it's because the shirt's more fitted in the waist than most of our other tops. It would probably look more pajama-like if I changed to a looser top, but... this is called a pajama top, screw it!

Oh no. Although I did look at trees... Lowe's sells apple trees for $22, and I'd quite like to get one... They also sell some japanese maples which are just beautiful, but well over $100. Tear. I got an asparagus plumosus. In the picture it looks prickly, but it's actually very soft. I'm going to plant it in a stout square jar (because screw pots) and put it by my window. I might pet it and name it. That it cost $2 certainly didn't hurt...

So yesterday we had some hellish storms here. We were under a tornado watch/warning (they screwed with the titles, now it's a "warning" even if there's no actual tornado. Ugh.), had some of the hardest rain I think I've ever seen, and lots of hail. Then a tornado hit Saint Louis, getting the airport and apparently completely demolishing a few houses. Somehow absolutely no one was killed, which is nothing short of miraculous. I have family that lives just minutes from there.

And... oh dear, it's getting difficult to read... I think I'm getting a migraine. Shiiiiit. Hopefully I can go to bed and not feel the pain.

Cardinal Biggles 04-24-2011 06:09 AM

So, why not try that?

Cherry Who? 04-24-2011 05:43 PM

I did, I left right after I posted that.
