I can understand not being a fan of orange. It's not the easiest color to wear, especially if you are pale. Luckily we have pixel people here.
Koi are fantastic. A hotel that I used to attend art shows at a couple times a year near me had a koi pond underneath the seating area of their restaurant. I always looked forward to those shows because of that, a little added highlight. Growing up I had a friend who owned a goldfish that was 10 years old which had grown to about the size of a koi, but didn't seem to have the same awesome personality. In fact, it looked kind of bored. I was just fascinated by the idea that the fish was 10 years old. No one else seemed to be as impressed as I was by it, either. |
I'm impressed! I've never really heard of that with a pet type fish before. The property I live on now has multiple ponds, because the previous owners raised goldfish (we don't have any now, too likely that they'd be picked off by the other wildlife in the area) They actually only moved down the lane, I suppose I could ask them about the lifestyles/span of goldfish.
If it clarifies my position, my favourite colour is grey. |
It was a very plain looking goldfish, too, but it had gotten huge. Kind of like this video but not as bright or fabulous looking.
Gray is a good color, it goes with many things and has a classic look. It makes me think of soft warm things, much like the kitty in that video. (And that, is a conversational "V".) |
Remarkable. I suppose there's nothing to prohibit them from growing that large, under the right circumstances. Just a bit jarring. We are so used to the dinky little ones.
|
I was surprised at how bright the fish in the video was. In the news article I read about that fish the woman said that she first thought she had hooked a traffic cone.
It does make you wonder about the potential of goldfish. |
Well, they are a form of carp, just like koi, I believe. Carp are tenacious and full of potential
|
I got a fish when I was four and had her(?) for years, but we wound up having to free her into a pond, because she had grown too big for the tank.
|
I've had multiple fish jump out of their tanks. Suicidal fish.
|
I've had fishes like that too.
We also had a miniature lobster when I was little (not really, but that's what I called them) that disappeared and we found it down in the basement like a month later. O_o |
Crawfish? That's... weird.
I want seahorses. Did you know you can have those as pets? They're so cute. |
HIM IS A CAT FISH D<
|
Wait wait wait. Lobsters as pets <3 I've always wanted one.
What I'd like to get is a Californian Two-spot Octopus. Yay. |
HIM - Ahuhuhuh. Clever.
Biggles - Octopi are clever. It's too bad those kinds have such a small lifespan... also they'll escape from their tanks regularly. |
Yes, it's a shame indeed. Can't be helped though. Probably makes it a good starter pet, in a way x_x
|
Yeah... it's just a shame if you get attached to it. I get insanely attached to things, so I don't really want anything that won't live for a good while. But if I were to change my mind on that, I'd definitely consider octopi.
|
I wonder if you can rent 50 gallon tanks. Probably. There's no point getting something like that for such a short period of use.

There's a koi place right down the road from me. I should probably see if they need summer help. Might be neat to work there. I actually have only had one fish and it wasn't even mine. I was watching it for a neighbor. I called it fishy-fish. Except with a weird accentuation. |
We had a pond until recently because unfortinately the fish didn't survive, a for some a second, bout of white spot.
We got the oldest ones from the fair when they were still allowed to give out goldfish and we had some from my auntie and then they had fish babies. |
I had a very satisfying pet experience with the crayfish I owned after our unit in school. I made great little rock homes for them in their tank and they would come out to eat. They seemed happy somehow.
|
That's pretty cute.
I had two bet about ~7 years back (in different bowls, of course). They were quite pretty, one was blue and one was reddish purple. Unfortunately, one of them got sick. We'd feed them by dipping a toothpick in their water, then into a container of dried worm things, then back into the water. We used the same toothpick for both fish, so unfortunately the disease eventually spread to the other fish and they both died. :( They were so pretty, though. And it was fun to put my finger on the glass so they'd get pissed off and start tapping against it. |
Cherry was blocking their view.
|
I always thought when I was a kid that the Betta fish in the vases with flowers and plants were so cool and pretty. But I found out recently that its kinda cruel to the fish. :(

*Stalks Kita on deviantart* <.< >.>
HIM likes jellyfish. |
Is it because they aren't plants they'd normal be up against? They can't escape them in a natural environment, that's for sure.
|
HIM:: -watches HIM stalking me-
Biggles:: Something about the stagnant water and temperature, and the plant can block their access to the top of the water, which they need. |
