Ooh... I wonder what kind o' seasoning you use to make HIM taste especially nummy...
|
I'm not named for Queen Alexandra (of England this time, though she happened to be Nicky's aunt, go figure), but my mum fell in love with the name itself while reading a biography on her highness.
We have a family friend who named all her cats at one point after Russian royalty. Bra, your roots are showing. |
:gonk: Leave my roots alone, Biggles!
But yeah, it's all Captain Howdy:'s fault. :stare: He dyed my hair this time - I knew I should've have trusted him! :talk2hand: |
My mom named me Christine believing that the name meant "special." It actually means "Christ-like" or "follower of Christ" so I just like to pretend that I'm named after a murderous car.

I knew you were going to work the Stephen King novel/movie into that somehow, Cherry. :ninja: I friggin' LOVE that movie, so I endorse this. Maybe when the rapture happens FO REALZ on October 21st we can change the definition of your name.
-rolls eyes and noodly appendages at Howdy- |
I haven't read that one yet. Strangely enough, neither has my mother. From highschool right up to around the time I was born, my mom was a huge Stephen King fan, so I really hoped that was where my name came from.
|
Mine means "Defender of Mankind", which is a laugh, given how much of a peacenik I am.
|
My name means either Anointed One, Christian, or Christlike.
Or golden, apparently. Quote:

Biggles - You defend us by having us watch British programming and read things about Stephen Fry.
Kita - Comrade Nikolai, I love it. One I've been considering along a similar line is Admiral Pospi (Russian for "sleep"). |
@ Cherry: Yes -strokes chin- yes, maybe.
@ Kita: My brain wanted to read that as "before I was born, my parents considered naming me Comrade Nickolai" Had that been the case, it's a shame they didn't follow though. |

MAKE THE TORNADOES STOP :gonk: :gonk: :gonk:
None have hit my area, but a huge one destroyed southwestern Missouri earlier this week, killing over 100 people. There are reports that as many as six hit the Kansas City area earlier this morning, but no reports of deaths that I've heard yet. So many big scary storms have gone over me that could produce a tornado, and yet another one's heading straight towards me. This really... blows. Excuse the pun. |
HIM doesn't yet have a weather machine so HIM can't help there.
|
Man, I was really countin' on that weather machine of yours...
|
Cherry:: I think that's a cute kitty name. :3
Biggles:: Lol no, Nickolai isn't a name for a girl. My middle name is Nicole though. Hmm. My parents have a thing for N names apparently. :/ Nickolai, Nicole, Nicholas... Cherry:: I KNOW. Ugh its awful down here. I have seen things that I never wanted to see and hope that I will never see again. And I still don't know where my best friend is; she's missing. >< This is a horrible storm season and I'm quite scared now. Stay safe, Twinny. :( HIM:: We need that weather machine. |
Kita - Oh noooo, I thought you were in northern Missouri! Are you in Joplin? D:
|
No, I'm right next to Joplin. And all my family and most of my friends are in Joplin. :(
My sister and her family lost their home, car, and my sister lost her work. Its lucky they're all alive, seriously. And my cousin lost her apartment, the only thing left was the sink. She is a tiny lady, and she climbed up under the sink cabinet and hung on to the pipes. |
That's terrible. :( I hope all of your friends and family turn up okay.
|
Combo breaker :/
Comrade Nickolai is surely such an awesome name that it transcends gender. Like George. I rather like that as a female name. |
Oh holy crap, me too. I've always loved George as a girl's name, but everyone thinks I'm nuts.
DID YOU ALSO GET IT FROM NANCY DREW? BECAUSE I TOTALLY GOT IT FROM NANCY DREW. |
My name is Howdy. It means, "Hi." :)
|
 I could've sworn your name meant "Harbinger of Catholic Convulsions," Howdy. I guess I was wrong. :stare:
And... yeah. My name means 'he who hails from the beacon hill,' though I've heard it described as a hill of broom as well. And flaming hill. :P Silly Gaelic people. |
Man, you need a dictionary, that's not what facade means. :talk2hand:
|
I DON'T THINK SO, I THINK I GOT IT FROM DEAD LIKE ME?
But of course, I'm sufficiently awesome to have thought of it on my own. |
