Well, exactly. It's probably the most profitable way to live (in an emotional and intellectual sense.) While I'd like to claim fashionable cynicism for myself, but I suppose I'm too damn naturally buoyant.

Well, I'm going to be dreaming about that now.

Cherry Who? 01-03-2012 06:21 PM

I think fashionable cynicism and mild optimism can live in harmony... Their powers combined create actual realism. Not the "realism" of the fashionably depressed, but actual realism where you're aware that being happy is good for you.

Man, I can't even count how many times I've had dreams like that. Entered a public toilet stall and sat down and then noticed it had no walls; the walls only came up to my knees; the walls only came up to my knees and there were multiple toilets per stall, all of which became occupied once I sat down; toilet stalls whose doors wouldn't stay shut; toilets that aren't actually toilets; normal toilet stalls that other people entered and started talking to me once I sat down... ugh. I felt better about it once I found a webcomic artist who frequently has the same problem.

Usually any other dream I have morphs too often to even be retellable. It'll start out as one thing and then in the middle it will very abruptly change its entire meaning. Like in the dream I had last night, it started out being about me and my boyfriend, and then halfway through it was about a reality show and had nothing to do with us. Also makeup commercials...?

Cardinal Biggles 01-03-2012 08:48 PM

Dreams and their abhorrence of the linear and narrative structures. Where would we be without them?

I actually have semi-lucid dreams (I've probably mentioned this) At times I can be well aware I'm in a dream situation, but still struggle to make odds and ends of it, and have very little luck controlling the events and tone.

That's fantastic. Such a concept! What a sentiment!

Cherry Who? 01-03-2012 09:02 PM

I think you have mentioned that before, and I think I've mentioned in reply that I'm jealous of your lucid dreaming skillz, even if they're not as strong as they could be. I'm sometimes able to recognize that I'm dreaming, but it's usually only during very unpleasant dreams, and all I'm able to do with the knowledge is wake myself up. Not very fun, but still a good thing, as I can have very unpleasant dreams that are quite worth escaping... I don't remember what my last one was about, but I'm pretty sure Lord Voldemort was trying to kill me. I guess that's what happens when you read Harry Potter before bed.

Thanks! There's my intelligent thought for the day. Now my brain is going to revert to useless mush.

Ohhhhh guysssss
BBC News - 'The Hoff' crab is new ocean find

Cherry Who? 01-04-2012 08:08 PM

Wow. It's cool even aside from the name, though. It's always exciting when new species are discovered! :eager:

fairywaif 01-04-2012 08:17 PM

If I was the Hoff I'd be very proud.

They also found a new species of shark recently. It's a hybrid between the deep water and shallow water versions of a two Australian sharks.

Cardinal Biggles 01-05-2012 12:24 AM

Ah, I heard about that too. Yay for open-minded sharks.

Cherry Who? 01-05-2012 01:24 AM

I hope their parents aren't racist.

HIM_ROCK 01-09-2012 08:34 PM

HIM here to kill your thread again

hummy 01-09-2012 09:32 PM

lol, hummy ish here to not let HIMmie be the thead killer!

Cherry Who? 01-09-2012 09:36 PM

But I was one who killed it with the racist shark comment!

How's everyone doing?

HIM_ROCK 01-09-2012 11:25 PM

HIM seems to be the death of most threads at the moment how is the Cherry

Cherry Who? 01-10-2012 03:52 AM

Are you syringifying and dismembering the threads? Because that would explain it.

I'm... alrightish. Moody day. How about you?

fairywaif 01-10-2012 09:32 PM

Syringifying? I think I like this new word!

Cherry Who? 01-10-2012 11:30 PM

It's currently undergoing the approval process at Merriam-Webster, but it should be official soon enough.

fairywaif 01-10-2012 11:32 PM

Ooh, sweet. Now I want to syringify something... :ninja:

Cherry Who? 01-10-2012 11:33 PM

How about heroin? It's so good for you!*

fairywaif 01-10-2012 11:49 PM

Oh... that made me laugh out loud. The guilty, covering my mouth kind. And then my sister was reading over my shoulder so she was cracking up too.

Cherry Who? 01-11-2012 02:11 AM

It should be noted that I do not endorse, condone, recommend, or partake of any illicit drugs, much less heroin.

I like imagining that conversation, though. "Doc, lately I've been feeling... pretty good." "Really? Go on." "Like, I wake up feeling alert and well-rested. I'm energetic and productive, I'm putting on muscle from my exercises. I'm even doing good at my job! I got a raise last week, I don't even know what to do with the extra money. You've got to help me, how can I stop this?" "Well... you could try heroin."

Kayxx 01-11-2012 02:40 AM

*Comes into thread. Lols at Heroin jokes. Leaves.*

Cherry Who? 01-11-2012 02:42 AM

No one is allowed to leave! *chases and syringifies*

With poison or something. Not heroin.

Cardinal Biggles 01-11-2012 03:41 AM

Is it just me, or is this current heroin dialogue something that wouldn't seem out of place in Darkplace?

Kayxx 01-11-2012 03:46 AM

Garth Marenghi's Darkplace? (Or whatever the hell his name is.)

Cardinal Biggles 01-11-2012 03:52 AM

Yes, that's the one!
It might just be this:
