I posted about this in Fancypants, but here's some more info:

That sounds amazing.
|
I wanted to go to. Obviously next Sunday is not an option.
|
Hammy - Nope, I haven't!
Biggles - Let's hope a recording of that might be released later! |
Oh yeah! Well... I came in! >8'D I'm just going to stand here...and strike a pose.
|
Nuh uh! Nuh uh! Only counts if you talk to us! Chicken, chicken! Snow's too chicken to talk to us!
|
Nuh uh! Hi! 8'D How is life treating you?
|
Uhh, alright. I'm just getting over a cold and am trying to get scholarship stuff sorted out for college this fall, but no one will get back to me on what it is I need to be doing. :gonk:
How about you? |
I'm good. The work for my classes is fair. No work til next week, so I'm catching up on some forms/paperwork. Have you completed your fafsa yet? First and most important thing to do. I plan on doing mine tonight.
|
Yeah. Well, my mom did it for me... It required a lot of info that only she knew (income stuff), so she figured she'd be nice and just save me the headache.
My teacher wasn't getting back to me yet on what I needed to do, so I contacted the school directly, so now I have an application form I can start working on. It's... uhm, completely different than what my teacher said I needed. Well, she never even mentioned an application, for one... :/ But anyway, now I know what I'm doing. I've got to get a letter of recommendation (only one, though! Not four!), write an essay, and fill out a form. That's not so bad. I'll just, uhm, try not to rely too heavily on my teacher getting me a letter of recommendation. Can't say I have the most faith there right now. Oh, I should be more clear. She taught the GED prep classes. She's not a professor at the college. I like the word "professor." It's like "someone who professes," and I always thought professing was kind of a silly verb. So it's funny to think of a professor as someone just professing things, rather than conducting structured classes. Ohhh, that's not funny, why am I laughing at that. Oh, and I'm also wanting to apply to volunteer with a local animal welfare group. They don't have a physical shelter, but I want to help them on the weekends when they take the dogs to Petsmart for the adoption events. :) |

We went to see John Carter the day before yesterday and it was awesome. :D |
I saw Das Welleg (The Wave) in German Club yesterday. It's based off a book which was based off an English school. I saw another version before that was more documentary style, so this was an interesting comparison.
---------- Hah, I love your signature kitami. |
Thanks I thought it was kind of awesome.
|
What are the movies you both mentioned about?
|
John Carter is the Disney (done like PotC) movie based on a science-fantasy book by Edgar Rice Burroughs called A Princess of Mars, which is a fantastic book. Series actually....I've read the first three. Anyway, in the book, a man named John Carter, who has just finished fighting in the Civil War, is trying to find gold in Arizona, which he does, in a cave and then he gets magically transported to Mars. There he figures out he has like, superhuman strength and abilities (like jumping) because of the lesser gravity. He becomes a mighty warrior (within a tribe of warriors) whose leader he becomes great friends with. Those are the Tharks, the green martians with six limbs. They capture a woman named Dejah Thoris, one of the red martians, which are humanoid. She is the princess of Helium (one of the great cities on Barsoom, AKA Mars), a Princess of Mars.
Its pulp fiction, a WHOLE lotta fighting, and John Carter and Dejah Thoris are the love aspect of the story. I won't give away the actual plot because I feel like everyone should read it. The movie was really very good, though like a lot of movies based on a book that's part of a series, they mixed parts of the first three books, added details and rewrote it a bit, and left some parts of the book out. Its a lot different than the actual book, which I find I kind of like, because it will allow people who see the movie and realize its a book to READ THE BOOK without being bored, because its not the same. I highly recommend it. :D Yeah text wall, but I felt like you needed to know. |
That sounds a bit strange.
Also, I'm a bit late, but... you guys. It's a Monday. |
Cherry, I think I've got something for WHAT:
Music Video Utilizes Amazing Graphic Skills |
...................
I am speechless. |
Cherry:: Well it is a bit strange, but I promise its good. Both the book and the movie.
|
Cherry~ Super late. Eep! Finish the application? That's not too bad, sounds like the standard practice. Were you able to get the opportunity to volunteer? o': Good to hear things are falling in place.
|
I haven't gotten around to putting in an application to volunteer yet, no. Right now I'm trying to focus all my energy in that arena on the scholarship applications. In fact, I'm freaking out a bit about that. The deadline is April 2nd, and I need two little forms filled out to recommend me, and none of my former teachers are replying to me about it. :gonk: I can't afford college without these scholarships!
|
HIM shall write a letter of recommendation
|
Aww.
I called one of my teachers just a moment ago, and she apologized for having forgotten and said she'd do it tonight and that I should call her if I don't have an email from her about it by tomorrow. So I've just got to get another teacher, and put the finishing touches on my essay. |
Hey Cherry, you know what you should read?
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. :ninja: |
It's already on my to-read list! :) I don't really know much about it, but I know it's been really popular and one of my favorite authors is friends with Riggs and he says it's good, so I guess I trust him. Also I watched a video of Riggs' once and it was cool.
So I assume you liked it, but what were your thoughts on it? :) |
