The only concern with that is that a lot of people might have read it. I read it in December of 2007, but would be okay with re-reading it. :) I've read one or two Tamora Pierce and enjoyed them. I haven't read the Wild Magic series, though. |
Many books will always be good to discuss again. I like all the suggestions, and I think I'll put up a poll. I made the decision not to add those that I know have been read by at least two people here. We had a lot of suggestions, and it might be too long of a poll, otherwise.
@Tsubasa Rose: I heart Terry Pratchett. Niamh's suggestion, Wyrd Sisters, is my personal favorite. It's a Macbeth parody. |
There are a lot of books on the list that I would love to read. I can't wait intill be chose a book.
edit: voted |
Will we be doing just the one round of voting, or will we also be doing an elimination round?
Also-- how to know when everyone has voted? *Just as I note, I've voted. :P |
Well, in other forums book groups I've seen people suggest books and they all go in one big list. Once a month, a book can be chosen from that list.
I'm assuming everyone can add to the list whenever they want. Of course if that list becomes too long that could be a problem for polling purposes. XD So, I don't know maybe a new list could be compiled each month with whatever anyone wants to suggest. If not many suggestions are given we can resort to what was originally on the list? I don't know, I'm just throwing ideas out there. XD So many good books to choose from but my vote's in! |
just wanted to say i voted ^_^ i'll be busy the next few days with finals but i'll try to check in soon to see what has been chosen
|
good luck on your finals

With six votes in, the following books have received at least one vote:

a.) Opt for reading Shadow of the Wind b.) Re-vote, but vote on just those 5 novels. If we do the latter, we could have a brief descript for each book. What do you guys think? |
I think we should read Shadow of the Wind and save the others to be voted on to read later.
|
I just looked up The Shadow of the Wind on Amazon and it sounds really interesting. I voted for the Joyce title but I'm up for changing my vote to SoW as it sounds like something I may enjoy.

That does so very interesting.

Okay, so I went out and bought the book because even if we're going to read it or not together I want to read it. I'm only about twenty-two pages in but it's got me interested.

This is terribly exciting! I'd like for us to be able to do this book, but I'd like to have everyone all amenable to the idea and such. Meanwhile, I have a copy. Joie-- ought we to start in reading, if everyone's agreeable? What should the timeline be for finishing the book? + 1 week + 2 weeks + 3 weeks + 1 month ?? Any thoughts, questions, comments, concerns? |
I think three weeks. That would give me time to finish my current book and finish this one. Plus it is not rushing anyone but not taking too long.
|
I agree with Shadow of the Wind and three weeks ^_^
this is exciting. |
Three weeks sounds good to me as well! *thinks*
487 pages equals an average of 163 pages per week, around 23/24 pages a day. How about we read up to just before "City of Shadows" (around page 102 or so), and then begin discussing? That way none of us spoils parts of it for each other... Yea, nea? |
That sounds good. I get paid next week so I can go out and buy it then.
|
Sounds great! I'll continue my reading then! XD
|
Is 'Shadow of the Wind' the final choice? I need to know whether or not to go look for it at my local library. :)
|
I think it is. I think most everyone has started reading. I'm sadly only on page 5.
|
And I don't even have it yet. *pouts*
Oh well, I hope the library has it. If they do I'll be able to catch up. I'm a quick reader. :) |
I just started reading it because I wanted to finish a series.
|
How will starting a new book help you finish a series? Or is it part of a series?
|
I was in the middle of a series. I was going to start this book but instead I finished the last two books in a series. It is the The Morganville Vampires series. I still have to buy the last one.
|
I stopped reading it for a while too because there were a few unfinished books I had that I wanted to finally get through.
It's okay though...I don't think everyone has been able to track down the book so I'm assuming it'll be a few more weeks until we can start discussing it. |
