I'm getting the feeling...

That I'm a thread killer, every thread I post in, doesn't get a response. I feel like I'm not being noticed at all. It's been happening a lot lately, it kinda makes me feel bad. Like there's a problem with me...

Have you ever felt that feeling on forums? Where you feel like you're a thread killer?
It's not a great feeling isn't it?

aww don't worry, that happens to everybody :D especially if you live in a totally different timezone than everybody else! I'm often the last poster for 10 hours or more sometimes.. xD

Yeah, I know what you mean. I feel that way too...
Anyway, off topic, congrats on getting married! I wish you and your cutie husband to be, the very best! I hope to get married myself!

When I first started posting here I found a thread that looked really interesting to me and I posted in it and then it died. No one has replied in it since. I think my nakedness scared everyone away.

What happened with me is this. I used to post here an awful lot. But then, I went a long, long break from Menewsha. Most people I knew aren't online anymore. So now, I'm looking to find new people to talk to. It's hard, trying to fit into a group of already close-knit people.

Sagitar 05-05-2008 10:54 AM

aww thank you ^^ I'm really happy now (:

Moogle 05-05-2008 10:55 AM

Happened to me plenty o' times on gaia. Lol. It's kind of a funny feeling sometimes though. I remember one time I responded to a thread about the lack of masculinity. A female was ranting on about how she was so done with the line of men these days and how she wants a brute and blah blah blah. So I responded to it, but I don't think it was that harsh. It said:

*cant find the post*

It's probably been blocked. But umm I remember saying something like "You'd rather have a guy that's gonna come home and beat the living hell out of you while coming home from a bar drunk and raping several other woman spreading each of their STD's to you." Something like that. But yea after that, the thread died ;o.

Insane Cricket 05-05-2008 10:55 AM

I'm just glad half of this place seems to have a brain. Unlike on Gaia. I'm careful about what threads I post in now, just to make sure I don't thread-kill.

That dress is so pretty! You look so gorgeous! A blushing bride!*smiles*
I want to get married too...But I'm only 20 years old...Almost, I'm 19 right now.

Caroline 05-05-2008 10:56 AM

Hey I remember you. 8D

Mene is kind of dead around this time.

I respond to everyone in my shop, hangout, or quest thread. It seems rude not to, and anyways, I like meeting new people. ^ _ ^ I don't always have something to say in response to everyone in discussion threads and such though. I don't like the General Discussion much anymore because most of the threads now have no thought put in them and are more like post-and-runs than actual discussion.

Sagitar 05-05-2008 10:59 AM

oh well you are only one year younger than me =D I'm 21, and so is my hubby :3 hehe.. wow, now he's my hubby xD

I remember you too! Yeah, that I agree with. But sometimes, there's good discussions to be had in the General Discussion! At this forum, you have to put in some effort to get the gold for items. At Gaia, you can just refresh the hell out of one page.

Caroline 05-05-2008 11:02 AM

Mmhm, I still check up on this forum because there are the rare topics I enjoy. C:
& I like Mene's gold-earning system too.

Sometimes, it's hard to get ideas for a topic without someone else having the same idea. That's one way a thread dies.

Cherish 05-05-2008 11:04 AM

If you really want a lot of replies, say something that is controvercial or mildly antagonistic.

I accidentally do that all the time, because I have very strong opinions, and tend to offend the overly-sensitive people without meaning to.

But hey, angry replies are better than no replies at all, right?

Sagitar 05-05-2008 11:05 AM

also it's hard to keep the thread alive sometimes, especially when it's a topic that only a few people like.. :3

Heh, pushing people's buttons huh? Be careful Cherish, one day that method might come back to bite you! XD

@Sagitar/That's another thing that happens too!

D-Yoop 05-05-2008 04:51 PM

hehehe I kill threads all the time, even my own O.o

xXMidnaXx 05-05-2008 06:26 PM

Threads dying after I post happens almost all the time, it happens for my sister too. Thats why she doesn't like the forums very much...

Lassi 05-05-2008 10:55 PM

I don't always go back to see if anyone responded, especially in certain threads where it's a bit of a debate, because I know someone is bound to find my truths a problem - even though I take the time to make sure nothing I write offends people. Someone is always looking to argue with me it seems *roll* but I think I know how you feel. I've posted in some threads that didn't get a response for a while, but I never feel weird if they don't. The only reason I ever even notice if there's no response, is because it will still be on the first page! XD

So don't worry your little head, you haven't killed anything yet ;-)

Loubie 05-05-2008 11:01 PM

I am without a doubt a big fat attention seeker when it comes to threads. :'D It's good that I admit that I have that problem. I like it when people actually notice my post and actually notice what it is I have to say. Whether they agree with it or disagree with it, I just like knowing that someone took the time to read it. That's makes me a tad bit happy, y'know?

As for thread killing. I am one, when I go to extremely active forums and finally post to join the conversation the thread dies, everyone is offline and the thread which was on the first page is now on the second page. I feel like the grim reaper of threads.

I only intentionally push the buttons of people who deserve it.

Julia Caesar 05-06-2008 12:48 AM

I always feel I kill threads, but then again I do.

I'd go with what Cherish said and anyway it is fun pissing people off.

a_shy_girl_1999 05-06-2008 04:42 AM

I get that happen sometimes, sometimes its frustrating, but some threads just die out on their own I guess when people loose interest in the topic. I don't know ...

Niamh 05-06-2008 04:53 AM

I think that my magical thread-killing ability stems from the fact that I tend to over-explain. In detail. A lot-- you know-- general babble about the topic.

It exhausts the poor little topic until it dies. :?

So I'm going to try not to do it, this time. *hides*
