Pets and its owners are they alike?

I was reading a magazine and the article said our pets normally if we spend a lot of time with them eventually aquire our habbits and even our personality, but they have the particularity to aquire the bad habbits and the bad personality points most of the time hehe

is it like this for you and your pet?

some people say that the pet even shapes itself similarly to the owner, means if the owner is fat the dog or cat will be fat or if they are slim well same for the pet.

I will talk about me and my cat, I'm a kind of sedentary kind of person, I do walk as a way of doing some sport but I dont take my cat for a walk (I wonder if someone can actually take a cat for a walk) so she really doesnt see me when I walk, the rest of the time when I'm at home I'm sleeping or at the computer or watching tv....so my cat I think she understood that is the way we should live life XD
she eats and sleeps all the time....ALL the time....she changes her "sleeping" times and I put "_" because I think she is "on guard" means she is half awake all the time but pretends to sleep.
She stays in the sofa or in the bed, she floows me around discretely but stays around where I am like if she was taking care of me somehow...I like that...
then when night comes she comes upstairs where me and my hubby are at the computer and since there is no more than two chairs she asks for sleeping in our laps =D
really she is so sedentary too so I wonder if the article was right o.o

ya I had a cat that was really talkative when i was younger. I was also talkative when i was younger.

Dark_Maiden_Queen 05-12-2008 06:07 PM

pets can also tell when a bad weather is going to come and some dogs can find cancer before it shows ;D

Sagitar 05-12-2008 07:36 PM

I don't think I can be compared to a hamster.. O.o

Schwartz Panda Kiri 05-12-2008 07:43 PM

I'm really hyper and so is my dog. xDD
But I think he's more like my mom anyway, even in the hyper sense. For some reason, all the dogs we've owned have been hyper. >____>
T__T;;;
xD

Me pet sleeps a lot and acts like a fat kid. I'd say we are twins.

I have noticed that people and their pets tend to look physically alike, a lot of the time. And, it's such an odd thing to look at. I mean, I haven't been able to take a decent picture with my cat, so I can't say if there's any of my physicality influenced in her, though that would be great if it were. I think though, that she definitely takes after my parents and I, in that she is so sassy. She's always been that way, but living with us I think, has made her very independent and therefore ... prissy? XD We're not mean or anything, but she is an only cat after all, and she isn't at all sharing in the attention she receives, so.

LittleSkyLark 05-13-2008 12:08 AM

i'd agree, i'm wayy too much like my parrots, and it's even picked up my words let alone my habits XD

[[.sheryl.]] 05-13-2008 10:05 AM

I actually used to have a pet common garden skink or something like that, but I don't think I act like it that much. Do I look like it? o_O;;;

None of my friends who have pets really act that much like their pet. My friend has a dog [one of the only dogs I'm actually not freaked out by! >w< ] but they aren't very much alike... at all. They are both good friends, or would be good friends, though. ^^;

mystic kiwi 05-13-2008 10:14 AM

I dunno if I you could say that my animals and I are alike since all my pets have different personalities, but my one cat is a lot like me since she follows me everywhere and has to be with me all the time. I do walk her too so people do walk their cats. XD It's not the same way I walk my dogs though, she just likes going outside with me and I won't take her out without a leash. She's more spoiled than like me though.

LOL that made my day thanks xD

Elwing 05-13-2008 01:58 PM

I'd just add: My cat is as crazy as I am and does
things that make no sence or are no use, just like me sometimes =/
I guess pets can be alike their owners... XD
When my boyfriend used to smoke outside at the front door he was
sitting there very dead, and the cat was sitting the same next to him.
XD

FAGGY CHAN 05-14-2008 12:35 AM

I don't think that happened for me and my pets.

With my puppy, he was always hyper and snippy.
While I am lazy and relaxed.

My cats, they were stupid and ran into walls.
Now as far as I know, I'm not stupid or have ran into walls. :'D
So ionno.

Kukon 05-14-2008 01:56 AM

My dog is just like me, in all the bad ways. -Sweatdrop.-

Lazy, sleeps all the time, eats all the time. Won't do a damn thing. Doesn't like to play, doesn't like other dogs. Fat. XD

So yes, my dog is like me. >.>

They look alike too...

Amie1985 07-02-2008 07:46 PM

well if they pick up the bad habits then yeahhhh. lol my cat is a lazy chubbybutt. she tends to dislike movement and trying to get her to play is like asking the cloud to move in front of the sun simply because you want it to :/

Han-pan 07-02-2008 09:55 PM

My animals aren't particularly like me. The gerbils are still new, so m'eh. They're adjusting. The cats are all very different...Salem is an attention whore, Boncuk is a sleeping "God", Little Girl is INTO EVERYTHING and Sparky just wants to be by your side =P

I want to add that about a month ago I got a bird that mimics everything I do. He even talks like I do. It's the funniest thing ever, especially when one of my friends come over and he says something. My friend and I were watching TV one time and my bird said "what are you doing?" then my friend looked over to me and said "watching TV, why would you ask me that?". I just started laughing and it took her a minute to realize it was the bird talking and not me since he says it just like I do. He also eats the same things as I do too and doesn't care too much for meat, unlike my other bird, and I'm a vegetarian.

Moogle 07-03-2008 04:58 AM

Well sometimes it's true. My dog and I are the sleep-lovers in the house, although that lucky bum gets to sleep WAY more than I do.

RainbowSuicide 07-03-2008 06:49 AM

yeah I'm alot like my dog plus our hair is the same...or was tell I dyed it >.>

Rebekah 07-03-2008 07:21 AM

Apparently when my Dad was younger his dog used to drag him back to his house if he wandered too far.

But i do think pets are similar to their owners in habits. My cat has always been pretty similar to me in habits, he eats alot, sleeps alot, and spends way too much time near the computer. And he seems to watch Tv too o_O.

Sinister Sassy 08-25-2008 06:44 AM

I just adopted a dog two months ago and I'm hoping he never changes. He's hilarious, especially when he's chasing a bug. He's the sweetest little thing I've ever seen! He's smaller than an average house cat, but doesn't know he's small (he thinks he's the biggest dog ever!). He has appointed himself my bodyguard and protector, which is sweet, but can get very annoying when he's barking at people/dogs a block away. He's very smart, but very high strung. When I first adopted him, he lost almost all his hair. It's growing back now, but a lot of it is coming in black (he started out blonde). I'm 34, so it's highly unlikely that I'll change, so all I can do is keep my fingers crossed that my dog doesn't change either.
