Awww sorry for bringing up painful memories Jen. I definitely agree with being a step-parent is a pain in the ass at times. You don't have the full authority like mom or dad, so quite often Aaron has to step in and keep them in line. I have to continually remind them that if I give a bad report to him they're going to get in big trouble with dad. For awhile I had issues with Pam innocently going back to mom and talking about me to Ex, but Ex somehow warped it totally out of proportion and somehow came up with me locking the door (and anyone who lives with me knows I'm anal about this) and her daughter out of the house. I had just moved in, the kids were playing outside with friends and I locked the door out of pure habit. Apparently the Ex wrote it down in a book she was intending to take to the court to get Aaron's rights taken away. Now I don't have any kids of my own, so each day is a new learning experience. I guess I was suppose to come in hand with a manual on how to raise kids. She also tried to say that I was neglecting the kids as I was resting in the bedroom and the kids were in the living room watching cartoons and eating breakfast. The kids know they can come and get me if they need anything. The ironic thing is a couple months later we got a call from Pam saying that mom and boyfriend weren't home -- they went fishing down the road and left the two kids 8 and 6 by themselves! Oh the irony.

That's part of the reason I'm hesitant to have kids of my own -- I just know that would totally screw up the system in place now. I have no control over what happens at their mom's house, and no doubt they'll be doing things I don't agree with and my child will be pestering and bugging me 'But so-and-so can do that!'. Not to mention birthdays and xmases would be akward to. The child would only get what they do from me and Aaron, yet we're going to be expected to provide for the stepkids as much as my own biological kid even given the circumstances. That's just the tip of the iceberg though.

Jennifer 07-21-2009 01:08 AM

I still want Chicken McNuggets. sendsomekthx.

Bahaha, how many do you have now?
Homg! with like the little fries and apple slices and tiny handegebur? :O lmao.

Izumi. Yeah - hopefully that whole "false tattle telling lies" thing will stop. My siblings used to do that with my parents. And I just kept telling them, "It makes both sides mad." My father kind of sounds like that Ex you're talking about. He once called the police on my stepfather and told them he touched me wrongly. And I was just like, "WTF, I didn't say such a thing." Of course, that made my stepmother mad at me, as well as my mother too. Sometimes it's the parents that are just fucked up, heh.

With all four parents (both mother and father being married quite a few times though), there was always someone that was trying to take the other to court and shit over stupid stuff. I understand my parents were not meant to be together. But they didn't have to continue ruining each others life's after the divorce; much less their own children. They couldn't be mature about it and work things out. Though even to this day, my mother cannot stand my fathers voice. But neither can I, heh.

Yes yes, that's exactly how it is. But you know, don't be too worried about having your own children. Just try and show your stepchildren all the love you can. And hopefully they'll understand that your own chidlren may be getting more attention because the rules are different for them. Your stepchildren go by two different set of rules (or lack there of; on their biological mothers part). It will always be tough having stepchildren. Especially if they're somewhat a pain in the ass themselves. I think when they're living with the less responsible parent - they get used to doing whatever they want. So they'll get pissy and rebel when their around the more strict parent. Which is hell I'm sure, heh.

Ohh the new McDonald's Beanies are cute. I bought the Sheep for my mom, as she loves sheep and knitting and has a flock of sheep on her farm. It looked oh so cute, and I knew she'd love to put it on her computer. I do care about her, it's just we have a very 'special' relationship. It seems things are getting better with time, and the fact we're not under the same roof.

Aero 07-21-2009 01:15 AM

We had hundreds of them when my mom was collecting. We still do, actually.
