I've never seen prepared salads with meat and cheese in them.

We're having a taco salad for dinner tonight.
I use way too much cheese in it, but it's great!
(The low fat ranch dressing makes up for it)

XxXx-Eternal-Snow-xXxX 09-01-2009 09:14 PM

ive never had a taco salad before O_O ive had the taco lettuce though if that counts XwX

Jennifer 09-01-2009 09:22 PM

They sell them around here. They're available in the deli section. They also make already prepared sammiches, too.

I love taco salad. Dad actually was going to make that for dinner tonight. But then changed his mind. Seems we're going to have a barbeque instead.

Jeannesha 09-01-2009 09:28 PM

There are different types of taco salad.

The one we do has taco meat in it, but you use ranch dressing.
You have iceberg lettuce, taco meat, black olives, shredded cheese, tomato chunks and crushed taco chips. Then you mix it all with ranch dressing.

The other types you use salsa with it, and put sour cream on it, instead of the ranch dressing.

I like both kinds.

Nope, I did not Snow.

Jennifer 09-01-2009 09:34 PM

We use those crispy chip bowls.

well then you keep the gold so you can get you item ^_^
and that sounds very weird...and kind of nasty O_O

Jennifer 09-01-2009 09:42 PM

Judge Joe Brown, I love this court show. 8)

Jeannesha 09-01-2009 09:43 PM

Well, at home we don't have those bowls, so that's why we just crush corn chips up into it.

The one pictured is the salsa and sour cream kind.

Try ranch dressing sometime. It's yummy! It pairs off the spicy taco meat really well.

Fiziali 09-01-2009 09:49 PM

Omg I haven't had a taco salad in ages. That just sounds sooooo good hehe. Hmmm I know what I'm making this month sometime. :P

Jennifer 09-01-2009 09:49 PM

I think I ate too much ranch when I was younger. I rather like the italian dressing.

Fiziali 09-01-2009 09:52 PM

Haha, Jeni sounds like me. I like Italian too. Really I like almost anything but Italian or Raspberry Vinaigrette are my favorites.

Jeni, your avi looks quite lovely. That background makes her look really tall.

Jeannesha 09-01-2009 09:53 PM

For regular salads, my favorite dressing is Catalina.
Some places call it Western. It's a bright orange French-type dressing.

Thousand Islands is good too. I haven't had that for quite awhile.

Basalmic Vinegar is great too, but it kills my tongue.

Jennifer 09-01-2009 09:55 PM

Wow, Fiz! Your avatar just looks bad-ass.

Jean - I use that catalina dressing. I marinate chicken breasts in it, then bake them. It's really good.

Jeannesha 09-01-2009 09:56 PM

That sounds really good. I should try that sometime.
I'm always looking for new ideas or different ways to cook chicken.

I wonder how it would taste on fish? Hmm.....

Jennifer 09-01-2009 09:59 PM

I don't know about fish. :XD I haven't had fish in a long while.

Jeannesha 09-01-2009 10:05 PM

We love fresh fish. Just a week ago we were in Corpus Christi, and went to this little fish market that always gets the fresh gulf-caught fish ... straight from the boats.

They had something called Amber Jack. It was delicious!

Jennifer 09-01-2009 10:07 PM

That all sounds yummy. If we want fish around here, we have to go fishing ourselves and get it. They don't sell it around here. Dad goes fishing every other weekend though and gets some. We have a ton in our freezer. Nobody has cooked any for a very long while. He wants to send me back home with some fish and elk meat. I don't like really like wild animal meat. D:

Fiziali 09-01-2009 10:14 PM

I agree Jeannesha, Balsamic vinegar is good.

Hehe, thanks for the compliment, Jeni. I spent a lot of gold trying to get this avi just right, some of it unnecessarily, but I know I'll use those commons anyways, in the future sometime, so I don't mind.

I absolutely love seafood. The only thing I don't like are scallops, but perhaps I've just never had them when they are cooked right. I've only ever tried them at a friends house. Shrimp and lobster are my two favorites, and when it comes to fish, catfish is just scrumptious. Crocodile is really good too.

Jeni, I don't really care for wild meat either, but one way to tone down the 'wild' taste in it is use lots of vinegar and/or lemon juice and marinade it first. It won't taste quite so bad then.

XxXx-Eternal-Snow-xXxX 09-01-2009 10:35 PM

if you like sea food you should try crawfish and fried aligator 8D

strange_dreams_512 09-01-2009 10:37 PM

Goshh you guys are all talking about food xD
And huh.. my mom served Aligator once at a party. Is it any good? o.O

XxXx-Eternal-Snow-xXxX 09-01-2009 10:40 PM

depends i had it fried so i liked it but my family usually grills it but it is really yummy =3

Izumi 09-01-2009 10:53 PM

Oh my gosh I'm *loving* the CIs this month. I really wish I didn't sell my carnival hairpin now.

strange_dreams_512 09-01-2009 10:58 PM

@XxXx-Eternal-Snow-xXxX: Oh.. huh... it's weird to think about though ^^" that's why I didn't try it when she made it. And uhh yeah my sister was grossing me out. I was 8 btw so it's not like I would think of it as anything worth trying xD same years as when frog legs sounded absolutely despicable. Now it's just "eh idk what it tastes like" instead of "omg ew". I wonder how many other things might change...? hmm..

Fiziali 09-01-2009 11:06 PM

I imagine aligator would probably taste the same as crocodile, though who knows. I know the crocodile I had was lightly breaded and fried just like cat fish filets are, and it was very tasty.
