How much do you want for the big bang, Linden?
|
@dragoness - Linden returns tomorrow evening from a trip. Just thought I would tell you ^^;
|
That's alright...that only gives more time to collect more gold to be able to try and buy it from him.
|
Tralalala,
*wanders about the thread* Mene seems a bit empty these days... ; - ; *rolls about* Even linden's thread doesn't have that much activity. |
*jumps on minoru*
:'D I think it's the same. If its any consolation I often find that later summer break sees a slowing of activity because people get bored and go do things instead of being on the computer. P: |
Wahhh!! *falls over with Dusty on top of me*
Owieee... Hmm, that makes sense. People usually go online to procrastinate school stuffs... xD |
*huggles*
Haha yeah :'D <3 |
x3
But Dusty is nearly always here so I'm not alone. ^w^ Btw, I love love love that picture you drew, of the bride and the groom! |
Yes I am often here. :'D Im what we call a regular.
Thanks! <3 It came out well ^^ |
I usually try to come here whenever I go on Mene,
recently I haven't been going on as much as I'd like... Dx And Mene loads slow for me now... I wonder why? |
Yeah I'm on a LOT. xDD <33
I've been having some mene trouble too, it comes and goes, but anything from every other to every 12th page just WONT load. And I have to click refresh or try again. |
Yeah...
And in China it wouldn't load at ALL. It was so frustrating... xD |
Ahhh that sucks. I've heard that china has some weird censorship or something to do with their internet. >o>;;
|
Yeaaap.
It's called 'the great firewall of China'... xD A fitting name. On random days they censor google and yahoo from the internet... so annoying. |
*laughs* HAHA I LOVE IT! xD Such a perfect name.
D: Uggg yeah that's annoying. China has beautiful history but their current policies are kind of... strange. (Im going to be tactful here.) |
Yes, they're pretty big on censorship. China has many faults for a country growing super fast.
|
Yeah their industry is just incredible, but the way they treat their people is almost oppressive.
|
Industry is really huge, but they do abuse their environment a lot. I'm not an environmentalist, but beijing is so polluted that the sun each day is just a haze of light.
It also depends what class people you are in China. For middle-class, I'd say it's more of holding back info than oppressing. If you have money, life in China is great. It's just that the rift between rich and poor is very very great. |
Mmmm I HAVE heard that too. The impact is huge. D:
Well I suppose that's how it is in a lot of places. Third world countries too and a lot of places in the world. If you're rich, awesome, but if you're not, I'm sorry for you. It's very easy in america to change places on the social "ladder" but it's harder in a lot of other places. |
My family in China is middle class... they notice the censorship but I don't think they really care.
And plus, they're pretty nationalistic, especially with the Beijing olympics approaching soon as well. A lot of China's rivers are all dried up... it's really sad. One big reason is that they still use coal as a major energy source because it's cheap... and coal pollutes. A lot. |
Yeah I have some chinese students at my school (it's an international boarding school) and they are oftn amazing at what free information we have here and how we have a couple of books in the library that are banned in china.
D: Yeah my town uses coal for the power plant... (lol) and it makes a lot of steam. The bejing olympics are going to be interesting, it is nice they are making such a big welcoming effort though. |
Ahh, yes. I haven't paid much attention to banned books in China though... interesting. Younger people in China probably wonder more against the censorship.
Yeah, the olympics are going to be really interesting... the welcoming effort is huge, and the Chinese are super-hyped up about the event. Every other commercial in Beijing has something to do with the Olympics. It's kind of crazy. Personally I hope that everything runs smoothly... it'd really be a huge insult to the Chinese if anything bad happens, and there's a high chance of that happening. lol... coal, really? I think my town relies a lot on nuclear energy. |
Yeah I think so too. Especially because these kids come to the US for school every year and see more of the world then they see at home. Sometimes people dont realize the different until they see the other side.
Hmm I hop it all goes well too. ^^ <33 I know how the chinese culture is about honor. There will probably be something, and tourists can be dumb, but hopefully overall it works out. LOL also just LOVELY. xD <33 Have fun if that blows up. |
Nuclear power plants are actually pretty safe. People are just paranoid about them because of the link between the word 'nuclear' and 'atom bomb'. And because of that power plant in Russia that blew up...
Honor? xDD More like arrogant pride nowadays. They don't want anybody making them look bad and ruining their special time. xD; Mm, yeah. That must be really weird. I mean, we don't really feel the effects of censorship because we live in the US. Something we take for granted, as always. |
Hahaha I know they are we contained and everything. ^^ It's a good energy source, disposal sucks though.
*laughs* YES alright fine. But it developed from the strong honor code of the old days. *nods* D: Yeah we can do and look at almost anything we could possibly want. But it's strange to us to think that anyone couldn't do the same. |
