Shock Factor

I'm one of those people who says things just to creep/freak people out. I find it to be one of the great joys of life. For an example, every year, this duck lays her eggs in the courtyard of my high school and the ducklings hatch, but get eaten after awhile because they don't learn to fly fast enough and have no way of escaping. So we transported them to a pond near the school to give them a better chance of surviving. After we set them free, I said (quite loudly) "We set them free?!? Are you telling me I brought this blender out here for NOTHING?" The screams of horror and disgust were just great. I'm also a fan of the dead baby joke and have quite the arsenal. Is anyone else a fan of this sort of humor?

iateyourparents 05-26-2008 07:22 PM

Haha it can be funny but some people take it too seriously.

C0NTRA 05-26-2008 07:31 PM

I'm the type that would be more amused by watching the baby ducks get blended,
than watching people's shocked reactions towards a joke about it.

emuthesuperhero 05-26-2008 09:10 PM

OMG THAT IS SOO SOMETHING I WOULD SAY!!!

Ariadne the Innocent 05-26-2008 09:25 PM

lol That's awesome!! I don't understand people who get so wierded out about that stuff. I'm very quiet in my classes, but whenever I talk, I say something demented, usually about the teacher, and everyone in the class goes silent and stares at me. xD

Setsunaela 05-27-2008 03:18 AM

Ah yes, the demented/out of nowhere comment. Also the demented/strange come-backs to insults are quite amusing as well.
My middle and high school years were plagued by silly little popular ditzes constantly picking on my friends and I because we were very tight-knit and prone to random fits of hugs, cheek kisses, etc. They would often come up and ask if we were Lesbians, and our most common comeback was "yes, and you're hot. Is that all?" which of course was met with shock/horror

comotized 05-27-2008 03:25 AM

I don't mind this sort of humor but I don't say things like that on purpose.

I do shock quite a few people as I seem to have a filterless mouth. If I think it I'm going to say it no matter who's around *shrugs*

Nemui 05-27-2008 03:33 AM

ya never been able to get into the whole
"demented" shocks phrases/jokes.
Im more of a "wwwoooooowwwww 0___o"
i say things that are utter nonsense to everyone around me but make sense
to me only. Well my boyfriend now too although took him a couple months XD.
I like the happy go lucky types of phrases.

I was never able and still am not able to see the humor in
demented jokes and dead baby jokes are horrid im sorry.
those are just over the line to me.
i just don't find the humor in it.

Kalliste 05-27-2008 04:32 AM

lol my boyfriend does stuff like that all the time. We'll be walking past someone and he'll say something about killing someone or the body in the boot... it freaks people out :)

I like saying things to shock people, I also like not giving a reaction when people try to do the same to me. It really upsets them lol

MrsGrape 05-27-2008 04:40 AM

Dead baby jokes are classic - but only with certain kinds of people with a freak ass sense of humour.

I am one of those people - and I work with kids! But yeah ... can't help it. The real thing is horribly sad but those jokes and that website .. yeah .. lol.

Pleistarchos 05-27-2008 04:42 AM

I saw a photo of a guy eating a baby...

General Lee Outrageous 05-27-2008 04:48 AM

If you're interested in this sort of thing, check out Trigger Happy TV. They did a shit with a guy in the street wearing butcher clothing and a hockey mask covered in blood, cleaning his bloodstained car. He was just casually sponging off the car when someone walking by stopped and stared. He turned and just glared at the man until he walked away. Then he went back to washing. I think I might do that one day.

Pleistarchos 05-27-2008 04:50 AM

Oh Ive seen Trigger Happy TV. i find it boring. and if you were to do that you would probably get arrested.

Fabby 05-27-2008 10:59 AM

I sniggered at that comment. I demented things fairly entertaining most of the time.
Dead baby jokes never particularly appealed to me. Usually they're just stupid.

Anyway, watching people's reactions can be quite entertaining. Especially when you go up to homophobes and start making out with the nearest girl. Stupid people make me giggle.

flamingcatdemon 05-27-2008 03:43 PM

Oh! God yes! I love messing with homophobes! They have the cutest reactions, because you can totally tell that they're only homophobic cause they're closeted.

zigbigadorlube 05-27-2008 04:04 PM

Meh... I think joking like that is annoying and fairly immature. It doesn't really freak me out but I don't really find it funny either... It's the type of thing that I view high school students doing just to get attention.

RaytheDragon 05-27-2008 05:58 PM

There was a kid in my class who would do things like that.
If I didn't know the guy, he would've scared the crap out of me XD
But, I have a very dark sense of humor, so that's why it doesn't bother me or get on my nerves.
Besides, a life without sarcasm or witty remarks would be horribly boring.

serafim_azriel 05-27-2008 06:59 PM

I love dead baby jokes! And I have that sense of humor too.

Kalium 05-28-2008 03:13 PM

I do such stuff for more serious purposes like showing people the error of their ways more often than not. I do it for things which I hold dear and could sacrifice my life for. Still, the people whom I do this very funny indeed when I do this, and I can't help but smile.
