I doubt that removing it for what sounds like much less than 24 hours will cause it to heal up.
|
An x-ray only takes about a minute, possibly even less. Just take it out about an hour before the x-ray, or even ask to go to the rest room while you're at the place right before you take it.
But, the hole shouldn't close up in such a short amount of time; it'll usualy take about a hour or more, depending on your skin type. |
I actually was allowed to leave seven of my nine piercings in when I had an MRI, which are much pickier about metal. The only reason I had to take any out is because the nails in my earliest earlobe holes were made of a metal that was being pulled toward the magnet...and that made things quite uncomfortable.
You actually CAN have metal in an X-ray - after all, they use them frequently to check the placement of metal things that are surgically placed in someone's body. Are you sure it's just an X-ray you're going for? Or is it some other kind of scan? Were you told that you'd have to take it out? If you explain that it's new, you'll probably be allowed to leave it in, whatever it is - after all, they do scans on people with metal implanted in their body that CAN'T just be removed. Still, just in case you aren't, I would advise you to look into getting a retainer. It's usually not recommended to put something like that in a new piercing, but it really does depend on the situation. If your skin is particularly resilient, it can start to close up in a few minutes. |
i wasnt told i have to take it out i jus remember they told me before to remove all metals
|
Well, I was told to remove all metals before my MRI, too - generally what they mean by that is to remove all metals that you CAN remove. They don't expect people to remove a metal screw in their leg from a badly broken bone, or a metal pacemaker or anything like that.
If you just explain that you can't remove it or need to replace it with something to keep the hole open, I'm sure they'll be fine with it. If not...you can always get a plastic retainer - just make absolutely SURE it's sterile; you don't want to put anything that isn't in a new piercing. Hell...maybe they'll even be able to provide you with suture material to act as a retainer, if you need to remove it but can't find anything else in time. |
^.^ it went fine they made me remove it but it only bled a little putting it back in ^>^
|
Exactly how new? You may want to put a plastic ring (piercing) or something in its place whilst the xray is being done.
Otherwise, I am sure half and hour/an hour wouldn't hurt it being it. Put it back in as soon as possible after the x-ray though. |
ok thank you >.> xD
:( i think my belly ring is growing out DD: |
Ooh, migrating/rejection? That's...never a fun issue. >.<;
If you think it's going to reject, it might be a good idea to just take it out and have it re-pierced once it's healed. If you let it force itself all the way out, you'll always have a little scarred stripe there. I'd suggest seeing the person who pierced it first, though. They should know what to do. And if they don't...then yeah, definitely take it out and have it redone somewhere else. |
well when i got it done it was perfect no redness or anything but
now i can see the bar like the tissue infront of it has shrunk dosnt that mean its comming forward or somthing |
Possibly - how much of a difference is there?
There's always going to be a little swelling when it's new. It's not always noticeable, but there's always some. If it's not really significant, I doubt it's a problem - 1/8-1/16" of the bar showing is most likely fine. The first jewelry you get is compensated for swelling - that's why I changed my lip ring before it was fully healed; it could have damaged my teeth because when the swelling went down, it became too big. But...I can't really tell for sure unless I know what I'm looking at. The best thing would be to have the person who did it take a look, like I said. |
well er. i got it done last month and it covered the bar completely now i see half of the bar
edit slightly more than half |
Ooh...yeah, I'd say that sounds like it's rejecting. Take that sucker out and have it redone when it heals over - rejection scars are not particularly pleasant.
Most likely it wasn't placed deep enough into the skin. That's a pretty common problem with navel and eyebrow piercings. It shouldn't take too long for it to heal over; you should be able to have it redone fairly soon. Navel piercings take practically forever to heal when you leave the thing IN (due to the fact that it's in an area without a lot of blood flow), but from someone who HAS had it pierced unintentionally before (just...don't...ask...XD;;), it doesn't take that long to heal over when there's nothing in there. You should be able to have it redone well before the summer is over. |
its just i paid 60$ for it D:
its not red or anything its just shrunk xDD would the skin get bigger ? mabie there is somthing i can do |
Well, I would go back to the people who did it and have them take a look at it. I know the frustration with the money issue, though.
If there's something you can do, they should know. If not...unfortunately, sometimes nothing can be done. Like I said, rejection is a pretty common problem with navel and eyebrow piercings, because I'm pretty sure both are technically considered surface piercings. In most locations, surface piercings are only considered temporary because they ALWAYS reject eventually. So yeah. Go see your piercer; most likely they've seen it all before. If there's something that can be done to fix it, someone who can really examine it will know a LOT better than me. |
yeah D:
lol im going to keep it in and if it gets worse take it out D': |
