Yep there's a picture on Wikipedia. I google searched Moth Man yesterday.

monstahh` 06-29-2008 07:15 PM

What is your opinion on "psychics"?

I'm just curious what you all think.

Blondheart 06-29-2008 07:44 PM

I will have to take a look Him.

I think most psychics are charlatans, and just very observant and base things off of that. I do however believe that we are all hot wired for the occasional precognitive moment.

monstahh` 06-29-2008 09:27 PM

I agree Blondie. :3

I think most of them are frauds. Very observant frauds.

Blondheart 06-29-2008 11:41 PM

I have had people ask me if I am psychic before, and I always tell them no...I just have a semi-photographic memory.

monstahh` 06-29-2008 11:42 PM

My memory is actually pretty poor.

But I have a photographic memory.

Blondheart 06-29-2008 11:44 PM

You realize those two are incongruous right?

Seems abit silly really, i just hate tv shows like 'most haunted'
they always seem to exagerate things and it annoys me.

Ah-well - I believe a healthy amount of skepticism is really the only way to go on anything out of the ordinary. XD If you don't have any skepticism, you're more likely than not to be fooled. Not a huge deal if it's just something you saw yourself. But if someone is trying to fool you for reasons of their own, then it is a bad thing.

I detest shows like "most haunted". Staged incidents, filmed hysteria being perceived as evidence of something really going on, even camera tricks, props and outright faking... It's vile.

They would either make their presence known, or we would never have a clue.

Let's hope! I am so not down with meeting an alien if it's not openly alien.

Similar to everyone else, I'd think.

I believe most people claiming to be 'psychics' are outright fakes. A smaller number are very observant - but don't realize their own powers of perception and attribute it to being psychic. Then there's some people who regularly and for reasons unable to be explained, are able to know things.

I think most people are able to tap into the real thing occasionally. But I don't think those people are 'psychic' in the sense people mean when they say that.

monstahh` 06-29-2008 11:55 PM

oO; Not really?

-shrugs.-

Blondheart 06-30-2008 10:59 AM

I just read that they have completed the Large Hadron Collider and they are going to start running tests in August. :offtopic:

I don't even want to think about it. I knew they were building it...but I somehow didn't think it would ever come to fruition. :gonk:

CK 06-30-2008 08:52 PM

::goes and Googles it:: That sounds like something... overwhelming. XD;

Blondheart 06-30-2008 10:17 PM

Yeah I think it's pretty much the most horrifying piece of news I have heard all year. Another classic example of scientists saying could we, not should we.

HIM_ROCK 07-01-2008 07:32 PM

*swims back in* Yvette Fielding got busted faking "spiritual activity":XD Right I'm bored now I want to find something else that has a horrifying statue just like Moth Man.

What do we all think of quija boreds or the talking bored as some people call it, are the people who use them making up the stories they tell about them or is something really contacting the user ?

Blondheart 07-01-2008 10:07 PM

Well you know a lot of people fear Ouija boards, and tarot cards and stuff like that. But in reality it's a mass produced item from Milton Bradley, made of cardboard and plastic same as many of their other board games. Tarot cards are like playing cards...again just cardboard. They are inert items that in and of themselves have no power.

But think about it like this; your telephone is an object made of plastic and metal. It's also inert...it's neither good nor bad. But if someone picks up your telephone and clubs someone over the head with it killing them, then it's a murder weapon. Has the phone suddenly become a bad object? No. But the person's intent and how they used it was bad.

Ouija boards and tarot cards are like any other object, it's what the user's intentions are when they use them.

HIM_ROCK 07-01-2008 10:32 PM

There are alot of stories about mass hysteria being created over quija boreds and about quija boreds being banned from cities due to the mass hysteria. Things like that have caused alot of the fear of them. Alot of the fear quija boreds caused in groups of people was caused by someone moving the glass or the pointer which has been proven to scare people because the fear is being passed from one person to another. Which happens alot of televised ghost hunting shows.

Although quija boreds being used in ghost hunting shows has bought alot of people wanting to use them back after alot of quija boreds were disposed of or blessed to make them less dangerous.

The most interesting account of a supposed "demonic possession" is the one that inspired The Exorcist. That being brought into the public eye made quija boreds even more fearsome.

I found this on a site with quija bored stories on:
Quote:

A Cottage City, Maryland boy began displaying unusual symptoms after his family experimented with a Ouija board. Odd manifestations occurred in his presence: the shaking of his bed and the sudden movement of room furnishings from their usual positions. The Washington Post first reported the incident on August 10th, 1949. Several articles followed, each more sensational than the last. They told of the boy's tribulations, the failure of medical science to treat his maladies, and his cure by a Catholic priest. Except for a 1951 Fate Magazine follow up, the whole matter might have been a forgotten curiosity. It was not to be. In 1971, William Peter Blatty's heavily altered novel about the incident hit the bookstands. It quickly became a best seller and a movie blockbuster followed. Its name? The Exorcist.

Blondheart 07-01-2008 11:14 PM

Yeah well they wanted to sell books, and that is how urban legends start. You know what I have always found odd...why are Catholics the only ones who ever get possessed? (No offense to any Catholics present.) But I have always found that odd.

King 07-01-2008 11:57 PM

Uhh....the LHC. I watched a video last month about five ways the world would end. That story was one of them, I thought it was the worst as well.

I had to reassure myself that things aren't too horrible and I read some web pages about it. It seems like people are saying it does have the possibility of creating a miniature blackhole, but that blackhole would evaporate quickly because of radiation.

Blondheart 07-02-2008 03:25 AM

Ok we can go with that...;)

It was only Catholics who peformed exorcisms because it had to be read from the book on how to peform the exorcism and it had to be done by someone who had done one before or some reason like that but they had to get permission from a higher authoritory(sp?) first. Catholic priests don't perform exorcisms anymore due to what happened to that girl who had schizophrenia, plus medical science has developed more so exorcisms are no longer needed and they only happen in places where either they're very set in traditon or don't know about certain medical conditions.

Well it's one way to make sure that people don't mess with things that they don't understand. You mess about with that you may end up with demonic possession. Although there is always someone who is going to mess with things unknown and take that risk.

Angelbug 07-02-2008 09:57 PM

I bought the first 2 seasons of the X-files! *is glued to the TV* hehe

HIM_ROCK 07-02-2008 10:02 PM

I've found the perfect holiday destination! The Island Of No Return, who wants to come ?!

Blondheart 07-02-2008 11:00 PM

I love the X-files! I always wanted to bite Mulder's bottom lip.

Where is the island of no return? Sounds intriguing!

monstahh` 07-03-2008 01:28 PM

I was watching the Twilight Zone yesterday.

I don't know why though, I don't like that show much honestly, it has it's moments, but still.

CK 07-04-2008 01:06 AM

Fox Mulder. ::swoon:: He was my first and only true teenagery super-star crush. I trolled the internet and printed out all sorts of photos of David Duchovony. XD It was really funny/pathetic in the usual way that sort of crush tends to be. The infatuation died when he (David Duchovony) married Tea Leoni. I had previously taken a serious dislike to the woman (I'd no idea they were involved) and have never liked her. XD;

::gets back on-topic sort of::

I honestly don't know what to make of oujia boards... I think they can unlock someone's natural potential if they are open to the idea themselves. Creating poltergeists, so to speak, and since they think "ghost" that's what it is to them. But I don't think anything mass-produced is able to call on the paranormal in and of itself. XD

I still avoid them all to hell, though. XD "Real" ones, I mean. I have an artist trading card or two along that theme and I think maybe a keychain. XD Since I've no intentions of 'using' them, they seem harmless to me. :V And kind of cool. >_>

::avoids the topic on possession. not sure what to make of that at all::

Blondheart 07-04-2008 02:41 AM

My first super star crush was some one you have probably never even heard of!

I never cared for Tea either...I dunno why, I just don't.
