Poems by I
Amazing, I know. Poems by I. Correct grammar is haunting my life. Anyway, I wasn't always poetic or anything, but I get a lot of good ideas in the night time. Most of the time, I don't have the sense to write it down immediately, or I might be in a place where writing tools just aren't available to me. But just a couple of months ago, I had some really neat ideas, and there was a convenient Dr. Grip in my hand, so I jotted down my ideas. This is the first fruit of my inspiration.
Fallen Angels In the start It was all right. We understood Each other's might. We looked at life With respect, And at you With deep prospect. You weren't perfect As we were all. But you were the one Who watched us fall. Those godless days Of destiny We did succumb To temptivity. We ate the apple Of the snake; Ran from the garden At winter's wake. Opened the box, Us monkey's three Saw, heard, and said With evil glee. We stole from Greed, And lounged with Sloth. We spat with Wrath, Heed the warning of Thoth. And as of Envy: To her we Lied Gluttony save us With help from Pride. Lust is one We did not see- Just the last monkey Laughing in the tree. Until we saw The tiger crouch, And from theron We did not slouch. He pounced upon The whitest dove, For whom he had No truth in love. In Dark Ages We had no light, Not a guide To lead us right. Until you came, Dear Lucifer, And took us back To garden same. But now the bushes Were alight with flame. "Where did you bring us!" To him we cried. "My new world." He doth replied. What land is this Where fire's aglow, Where all is smite In hate and low? Where is our father? The one above. To him we still Harbored some love. "Oh he," Said Lucifer, His eyes dark. "I left him one day, And with him My mark." "I had so much power, He wouldn't let me go. So leave I did, Red blood on snow." We would never forget That wrathful day, When we entered Hell In fallen angel's way. Please note that I am in no way a religious person, and I did not purposely intend for it to contain biblical references to: the former angel Lucifer, the garden of Eden, or Hell. My imagination led me down that path. I hope you enjoy the poem! It is almost a sort of riddle, and can be interpreted any way you want. There are more poems to come. Poems by I (ii)
More poems, hooray. Or not. I am currently chewing on a large and long Red Delicous that has the toughest skin ever and almost no taste. It's main objective was to survive 4 weeks on a grocery stand, not to feed the citizens of this world than enjoy their food and take time with it. To put it plainly, it is a test-tube apple. Lovely. Anywho, this informative book I just read, "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" by Barbara Kingsolver talks about the corruption of modern food and how her family survived a year on locally produced and home grown organic food. Filled with recipes, anecdotes, and facts, it really inspired us to be more...well... organic. It's a good book. OH NOES! I got sidetracked. Gaaahk.
My Friend in All Seasons Blue skies, Running through a field. Flopping down Staring at the clouds. Laughing, chasing Each other across the grass. The smell of clover In my head. Sun shining Warming my skin. I turn around There you are Laughing too. Orange trees With red and yellow- Throwing leaves up In the air. Brisk wind A scarf around my shoulders. The smell of dirt In my head. Crunching through The fallen foliage. I turn around, There you are Laughing too. Cold rain Dotting the ground. Grey skies; Skipping between droplets. A stronger breeze Blowing leaves away. Sitting, staring Out the window. Warm inside Still happy. Rain doesn't bring Any gloominess- Only the smell Of fresh wet ground. I turn around There you are, Laughing too. Buds on trees Wet green plant life Verdant on sepia The purple flowers On bare branches. Cherry blossoms Float to the ground. We climb the trees Talking of life. Found a robins' nest On the branch. Three blue eggs Lying speckled. The Earth around us Sprouting up. I turn around There you are, Laughing too. My friend in all seasons, Don't leave me. I'll show you everything The cycle again. Notes: Well, can I say that I was being very nostalgic when I wrote this? Well, not realky. I was thinking of someone when I wrote the first stanza, and then I decided to do all the seasons. When I got to the end and wrote about a "Friend in all Seasons", it reminded me of that Orisinal.com game "A Dog for All Seasons". Yeah... it's sort of cliche-ish with the season thing. But, you know, always stick with your gut feeling and never regret anything. This poem belongs to me, Julie Chen, and cannot be reproduced or used in any way without my permission. |
According to the lit forum rules, short items like poetry don't need individual threads. You can have one poetry thread with all of your poetry in it. :)
I'll go ahead and merge your two threads. |
