Ever been mistaken for another sex?
So, I was in summer school, waiting for my mom to get out. She's a teacher. My little brother just started, he's like fiveish almost.
My brother was like kicking this other kid, and I told him to stop because that's not nice. He, and his friend, both said 'Yeah - listen to your older brother!' I was like j_j And this other time, at my mom's work, this old lady kept asking how old my mom's son was. Repeatedly, after being told 'oh, that's my daughter'. I am girl :illgetu: When my brother was three, he kept getting mistaken for a girl. A talent agency even called for him, and they called him 'miss'. So what about you all? I know there are lots of funny stories related to this topic. |
I'm a girl too. c: I have, despite my long hair and...obvious female parts (those are against my will. D8) They say if I hold my hair just right, I look like a very handsome young man. D; My boyfriend was leaning over, his hair's about to his shoulders, and a lady inches by and said 'Excuse me miss.' He stood up and turned around, smiling weirdly. And has facial hair. She stared at him a moment then ran away. xD |
I think there was already a thread for this topic. ^^
But, I'm a female, with a male avi! xD |
I dunno. I had a kid ask me directly if I was a woman or man. I blame the short hair.
|
Well, yes and no.
Some people did think I was a boy when I was in a play. But my character was male. So it was a good thing that they thought that. And I was sort of supposed to look like that, y'know. XD But out of costume, no, I don't believe that anyone's ever mistaken me for a boy. |
Once when I was 10. I had short cornrows, a fairly masculine face, and puberty hadn't blessed me yet.
I was standing in line with my mother at Disneyworld for a boat ride, and some lady bumps into me and says, "I'm sorry, young man." My mother flipped out. |
And I, despite this girl avi, am male. :B
It's only online that i've been mistaken for a girl... and asian (don't ask). In real life I look nothing like a woman... maybe if she had facial hair. But even when I was a kid it was still very apparent that I was a boy |
When I was younger It happened a ton of times. It drove my mom crazy but I didn't care much.
|
I used to be mistaken for a male all the time.
But back then I was trying to pass as a male. I thought I was transgendered at the time. |
Nope, but people always think I am alot younger then I am lol *pouts*
|
I used to be called a boy. XD But I was like 9 and I decided to lop off almost all of my hair. Though it was funny cause they would think I was a boy and my brother was a girl, cause my dad wouldn't let him cut his hair.
|
lol, only all the time.
At first it annoyed me, but now it really doesn't bother me at all. Bajas learned to just answer to either. xD |
I only got mistaken for a boy when I was a baby. Apparently there were a lot of boys born in the community when I was. My mom got so frustrated because people would be like "Oh, what a cute little boy." And she'd be like, "Uh, she's a girl.. see the PINK DRESS??"
I've been mistaken for a guy online sometimes, and I've always been a bit of a tomboy, so it doesn't bother me all that much. |
When I had a male avatar, everyone thought I was male. But, well, that's understandable. I change my avatar into a female ...for now. XD
In real life, I cut my hair short in the beginning of Grade 9. And there was this boy on my bus who had a similar hair cut. And another boy (We'll call him boy number 2), who was loud and obnoxious. So Boy#2 comes up to me and says. "Woah! I totally thought you were a dude! Like...like...you look exactly like that guy over there from the back of your head! Like...you're like his twin!" And I was just sitting there on the bus, going: "WTH?! DDD':" |
No i have to admit that i have never been mistaken for any other gender other than my own.
You must have felt embarressed and annoyed when that happened. |
I'm transgendered (so I try to pass as male) and I'm mistaken for a girl a lot.
|
I remember in school, this little girl just stared at me..
and I just waited for her to say something, but then i got mad and said WHAT?!?! She said to me, "Are you a guy, or what?" I told her to scram. I really hate it when people confuse me for a guy. But then again, i like most things guys like and I think i look good with short hair. But this year I'm going to let my hair grow all the way to my butt ^_^ And who knows, maybe i'll keep it that way :D Another time when someone called my a boy, was when i went to get my mom some "relaxing ointments" or something, and me and my 2 brothers went and this lady who worked there was all like "You are 3 wonderful boys." and my brother started laughing at me! And i said to the lady, "I'm a Friggin Girl, you dumbdumb!" And she was all like, "OH!" *gets red* I really hate that lady >:C |
Heheh I get mistaken for a 13 year old boy on Xbox live sometimes which is pretty funny because when I do something to piss other players off they go crazy. Some can tell I'm a girl but it takes the other guys a while to figure it out. XD
Reason it's funny is because I play Gears of War so they get very peeved and usually yell, "Why the hell does this kid keep sawing me!? Lil asshole, I'm going to kick his friggin ass!" and other colorful things. When I'm laughing too hard my other friends usually let them in on the joke. Afterwards they're not so mad. XD But I find it humorous to be treated like a boy online and sometimes get asked, "Why are your parents letting you play this game?!" *Gears of War is rated M* Anyways other than that it's pretty obvious I'm a girl. >> |
Only online, sadly.
Although, I was told once when I put on a hat, that I do look the part. That makes me very happy. xD |
All the time.. Especially when my hair is long.
|
Some entertaining stories, here. XD
I have somewhat feminine features, but I often wear masculine clothes and have a very neutral voice. Occasionally I confuse people. It was much worse when I was younger, though, because I wore my brother's hand-me-downs; even with long hair, I was always mistaken for a boy. I was so introverted that I didn't particularly care, but our buses had seating arrangements that were gender-segregated, so the driver would sometimes yell at me to get on the boys' side before realizing who I was. |
I sometimes get mistaken for a boy over the phone. Only because right after I wake up my voice is cracky and deep.
But in person, if you think I'm a boy, you must be blind. Boobs >.> |
I used to be mistaken as a boy when I was younger. I always hang around a small group of boys rather than other girls, as well as cut my hair short. A few other people would tell me I was a nice boy, but I'd always look at them and tell them I was a girl. All of my guy friends new I was a girl, but some of their parents would mistake me as a boy from time to time. Once I got older it became more obvious that I was a girl, plus I also began hanging around more girls.
Online I still get mistaken for being a male from time to time. |
My own sister mistook me for a Japanese guy after I got my hair cut a while back.
That was interesting. xD |
Ohman, all these other stories make me feel a little better xD
And sorry if this is a repeat thread, I looked but couldn't find one? So I apologize. thoughtlessamaya - you just reminded me of another story. I called my friend once, and her roommate picked up the phone. I asked if she was there, and I head him call out to her 'Hey - there's a hot guy on the phone for you!' She started laughing hysterically when she picked up because she knew it was me D< Looking at it, I guess it's kind of okay to see why I'm mistaken for a guy. Cos I have short hair, and I don't wear makeup or brush my hair half the time. And I generally wear pants + t shirt + scarf. And I have a very neutral voice xD I hang out with girls though? Maybe it's cos I'm vaguely asian looking. |
