New Kitten....
Ok so im getting a new kitten, it will be about 8 weeks old when i get it (awwww!!)
Im having problems thinking of names. I dont want anything too "sickening" or "cutsie" if u get what i mean. But then again i want some thing quite unusual but not so weird that i get people asking why its called that all the time. Im quite happy to go with real people names, just as long as they suit my cat. Over all im looking for a name thats preferably 2 syllables and feels natural to call out. All suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Oh btw its a female! :) |
My suggestion is to wait until you have her :) I've had probably 9 or 10 cats throughout my life so far, along with various other small pets (including rabbit, gerbils, dog, etc). When you get her, you'll be able to observe her personality, her physical traits, different things that will help you get a name that is just right for her ^^
I had a pair of babies from the same litter. The girl was SUCH a darling, I named her Sweetpea, after the flower. The boy took forever to name, but the hair on his tummy always stood straight out when you held him, so his name ended up being Spike. I've had so many different animals, and the only thing I can tell you is to wait until you get to know them before you name them--otherwise, they probably won't like their name very well!! =p |
I agree with Han-pan; wait 'till you get the kitty.
I've had four cats so far in my life. I didn't get to name two because they were named before I was born. My sister named one of the others and the fourth one already had a name when we got him. But my dog took an eternity to name. We settled on Maggie 'cause of how she was so ... messy. (I can't remember the reason :P) |
Lol Awwe!! How cute! That must be really exciting.
Actually I was about to say what everyone else said. It's best to first take it and see what the kitten is like. A name will then come to mind. ^_^ |
Just name her what you think of when she's a little older.
I don't have the best record, as my kitties are both named Xena and Gandalf xP |
I always wanted to name a cat "Tuna" or "Sushi."
But you probably won't do that. xD Like everyone else says, wait until you get her. And if you still can't think of a name then, tell us what she's like and I'll try to come up with something. |
"Sumo"?
But yeah, waiting does sound like a pretty good idea. When you see her, who knows if the perfect name will pop out of your head an onto your tongue? > w< |
Awww, congratulations!
I envy you. I love kitties. Anyway, stay away from cliches. Like, if they cat is a golden orange color, please, god, don't name it "goldie." >.< Stay away from adjective type names. They're horrible unoriginal and overdone. Anyway, a way that I name pets is to think of celebrities you like of that gender. The run through some of the names and see which name fits your kitty's personality. Like, for example, I like a guitarist named Izzy Stradlin. Izzy Stradlin is a pretty mellow, laid back, low key kind of guy. I named my hamster Izzy after him. My hamster is very hyper and excitable. He's not like Izzy Stradlin at all. But the name Izzy fits him. So don't worry about the celebrity's similarities to your kitty. Just think about if their name fits. ^^ Then you get a nice, real name that fits your pet and isn't cliche. |
New kittens are so so cute <3 I myself like to wait and see how the kitten is them name them. I would give you some ideas on names, but I come up with odd ones. Like my cat is named Sir CheesBall

Aaaw!
I love kitties! How about "Madam"? It could be especially fitting if she's a particularly mischevious or strong-willed kitty. |
I always wait until I get my animals to name them. Names come easier to me when i can actually observe the animal. I tend to like names related to nature a lot. I'm not too big on "pet" type names though and prefer something that I would name a child. I've had pets come to me with names already too. I'm horrible with picking names out.

Veruca or Feruza would be cool names, definitely... Or Fuschia :o.
|
I have four cats as of right now, of course non of them are kittens anymore ;_; but yeah their names are Squeaky, Poofy, Holly, and Kiki, but I believe it would be best to officially name the kitten when you get im' as the kitten might have something particular that it looks or does,
Like I named squeaky that because she always used to squeak for a meow XD, and poofy when he get's scared his tail is a mile thick! XD so forth. Good luck naming! <33 |
I also agree with the wait till you get her kind of thing. Its just easier, when i got my chihuahua Pepper she had already been named. And was so used to it its not like i had a choice. But the name suits her so i don`t want to change it either way.

Aww how cute! I agree you should wait to see them first before settling on a name, but it can't hurt to have some ideas already. And like Cherry pointed out, stay away from overdone names like Fluffy.
Good luck naming the kittens! |
Umm...Toby? Or Tobias? I always like the older names when naming pets.
My fishes have been Ferdinand, Giovanni, Thomas, Farley, and Tegan. :) |
Make sure it's actually a girl before you name it. XD
When I got my cat a few years ago I was told she was a he. I named her Bullwinkle (I had a dog named Rocky at the time.) Then I come to find out she's a she. (No one believed me, but I knew she was.) So ya, I have a female cat with a male name. I usually call her Princess or Stinky, when she's in need of a bath. xD |
I named mine (who is now 9 weeks) Katie....I love human names. And the name fits her. Just wait about a week or two to get to know her, and then give her a name that fits her personality. As for me, all of my pets have human names. (Katie, Bella, Shelby, Elvis)
