Her plain-Jane brown hair is usually kept shorter, especially in the summer. She keeps it parted on her left side, and sometimes when she is feeling particularly blue, she allows it to fall over her right eye. Her skin could be described as porcelain if it weren't for the sprinkle of freckles that lightly dot the curves of her cheeks and nose. She spends very little time on makeup, usually choosing a simple lip gloss with a slightly peachy tint, but she spends some amount of time taming her eyebrows into a neat shape. Her body is thin, not from a lack of eating, but from her dislike for greasy foods...well, most greasy foods. She also enjoys doing yoga at least twice a week, so her body is strong and flexible. Deep Cuts: Beth has a strangely-shaped birthmark on her side that she is very self-conscious about. It almost looks like a flower. I would be Beautiful if: Her freckles are any eyesore for her, personally, but her small breasts are nothing to brag about either. Beneath the Skin: ---Mental State: Stable...usually. She has three different personalities that manifest themselves in three different ways. Two are extremes and the third is neutral. She is normally a very happy and sunny person, but she gets stirred up or her world gets (in her mind) turned upside down, then she becomes very cruel and dramatic. When she is neutral, she can usually be the most reasonable and can account for her actions when she has been in either extreme. ---Emotions: Depend on her personality. She can be happy and carefree or depressing and sad. ---General Behavior: Although, she is a very happy person and can be percieved as outgoing to some, she is very shy and can take a while to warm up to someone new. Once she knows you she can be chatty and generally, very sweet. But if she is crossed she can be cruel both with words and with weapons of any nature. This is usually her dark personality and it usually shuns those that she cares about until it has passed. Her neutral personality is very wise and apologetic. These different personalities often leave those unfamiliar with them confused. Quirks and Habits: When she is nervous, Beth scratches her head a lot or pulls on her earlobe. Once Upon a Time: Beth was born to an alcoholic and an evangelist, you may wonder how an evangelist and an alcoholic came to have a child together, but you would have to understand that at the time that Beth was conceived neither of these roles had been set as such. At the time that Beth was conceived, her mother was an unhappy homemaker with an obsession with gambling. When she disappeared for days on end, she could often be found at one of the city's two casinos. She always knew that she would win big, but in her case, the odds were more than stacked against her. Beth's father was, at the time that she was conceived, a very happy and successful businessman, owning four hotels across the state. He was well-liked by his employees and tried as he could to hide his only embarrassment (ie. his wife's gambling problems) by working too many hours to really be home. But on the night that Beth was conceived, her mother wasn't at the casino and her father wasn't at work. They were attending their best friends' wedding. Beth's mother stood as one of the bride's maids, and Beth's father, likewise, stood as one of the groom's men. And as they looked at each other across the raised floor as the preacher read aloud, her parents considered their vows to each other, from only three years before. Beth's father would later attribute it to the sparkling dress cut just perfectly for Beth's mother's slim body, but that night as he looked at her, his heart lept into his throat as she looked as beautiful as she did on their wedding day. Her gambling problem didn't seem so horrible, and he, mentally, bemoaned the lost time he had spent away from her. He resolved that night to spend more time with her, thinking that perhaps that would keep her from throwing away his money. Beth's mother was also having a revelation of her own as her husband appreciated her beauty. Of course, she would later attribute it to the sensual and alluring lighting, dimmed to create a warm and cozy environment, but as she looked at him, her breath stuck in her throat as he looked at handsome and as radiant as he did on their wedding day. She, mentally, bemoaned the wasted time and money that she spent at the casinos when she could be making a home that he would prefer to stay at. She resolved that night to be a better wife to her husband and make their house a home. Not long after the reception, they both would attribute Beth's conception to too much excitement and too much champaign. The two still made a try at being husband and wife. Beth's father was home every night by six and Beth's mother always had dinner ready for him, fresh out of the oven. Six weeks after the wedding, they rejoiced when they discovered that they would soon have a child. Her father was so happy that he decided a risky venture to open another hotel, this time a ritzy five-star, thinking that all the revenue would be able to buy his daughter everything she could ever want. Her mother joined a group of local women who did all sorts of crafts for around the home, and usually, spent her time sewing baby clothes and knitting blankets, wanting to wrap her daughter in all her love and hard work. Things seemed to be going very well for Beth's parents until... The New Year blew in the year Beth was born with a bone-chilling wind and a heart-breaking situation. Beth's mother had just returned from her group gathering, after taking her coat off and putting her hands on her back where the small of her back ached from sitting in an unaccommodating chair for hours, a strong and persistent knock sounded from the door. She opened it to find a tall middle-aged man standing on her porch dressed in a fancy business coat, beneath which, she could see a starched white collar and a blood red tie. Her mother would remember the red of the tie being a bloodier shade of red than it probably was, but just the same he held a brief case in his hand and wore a stern and serious look on his face. He asked after Beth's father, but upon discovering that he wasn't home, the man abruptly left, leaving only a sealed envelope in her hands. When Beth's father came home, he turned a gray shade of pale after reading the contents of the envelope. He immediately turned to his wife, his wife, who had changed so much in the time since he had started to be a better husband. He laid compliments at her feet and pleaded with her to be understanding before he told her the horrible truth. He had been unfaithful. Before the time that they had both decided to become better spouses, Beth's father had been more than friendly with his secretary...and her assistant and one than one of the receptionists at least two different hotels. There was also a maid and an undercook, a night auditor and a bartender. All had been one night trysts...except for one. And it was that one that Beth's father apologized for because as he was to find out, the cute little maid who looked innocent and shy became a lusty lover when the lights were off. And she had lied about her age. In the end, Beth's father managed to narrowly escape prison as he was able to prove that she lied about her age with a copy of the driver's license and social security card she presented with her application (on which, she also lied about her age), but he was there after listed as a sex offender. He lost business very quickly and eventually sold his hotels to keep his family fed. Beth's mother took the news with some shock, but eventually, blamed herself for the situation and took it upon herself to take up the responsibility for her husband's actions. At first, she shared her opinion with her craft group. But before too long, she was telling the woman behind her in line at the grocery store and the cashier at the craft store. She was a woman on a mission to bring women everywhere to their senses. She only became more passionate after joining a local church when she was asked to join by the preacher who she had spoken to at length as they were picking out eggs. Beth's mother had found her calling at last and was more than happy to take up the mantle of a zealous leader. Beth's father became increasingly depresed and could only drown his misery in the brown depths of a bottle of hard liquor. He felt safe in the comfort of haze that the alcohol leant to him. He didn't have to feel and he didn't have to care. He just was. Upon Beth's entrance into the world, her father was in the nearest bar, with his head buried into the circle of his arms. Her mother was screaming out proverbs as her faithful followers hurried to scribble them down to preserve their husbands or future husbands. It was in this very unlikely world that Beth slipped out of her mother and took her first gulp of air. It wasn't until Beth had been cleaned and dressed and brought to her mother that Beth's mother decided that she would give the child up for adoption. Beth's father was a bit saddened by the decision, but agreed that if they couldn't even take care of themselves, they wouldn't be able to take care of a baby. So Beth was adopted a few days later and a few ounces lighter to a couple who had tried for years to have a child of their own but couldn't. They fell in love with her eyes and her sweet disposition. It was only a few hours after midnight when they discovered that their sweet little baby had a touch of cruelty. Try as they might, the only thing that made their little girl content was screaming her lungs out until she was so exhausted that she fell asleep. Beth grew up loved by her adopted parents, who loved her all the more despite her very different personalities. They did what they could to make her happy and taught her all the important lessons in life. They discovered not long after Beth was in the second grade that all three personalities had at least one thing in common: they loved to learn new things. So they made a point to make as many experiences and family vacations a learning experience for Beth as they could. When Beth turned eleven, she finally began to have more control over her personalities. She strengthen her mind as well as her body, finding a peaceful balance in her life brought the most balance to her mental stability. Also despite her personalities, she had many friends and was loved by many, but not in the way that she desired. She went to college and got an English degree and a botany minor. Soon after graduation she managed to get a job as a technical writer for a small but growing cooperation. ---To Make a Long Story Short: Born to parents who couldn't take care of her, Beth was adopted by parents who could better care for her multiple personalities. She loved learning and eventually became able to control her personalities better. She seeks love, especially after graduating from college and working as a tech writer. ---Tag Line: When given three lemons, some sugar, and water...she learned to make a great glass of lemonade. ---Dear Diary: There is some connection between her birthmark and her personalities. ---Author's Notes: Two of her personalities are the manifestations of previous lives, lived in different times and places. The soul and the birthmark were present in each different life. Her true personality is the neutral one. Rain Drops on Roses: To learn new things (information, skills, etc.), Disturbed (the band), cats, Botan rice Candy, cheese curds (fried), Books Pet Peeves: Fried food (except cheese curds), people eating with their mouth open, people who talk while eating, people who spit on the ground without a good reason(especially, the sidewalk), pretenders (people who pretend to be nice or a friend) Personal Goals: Beth would like to eventually fall in love with someone who will love her, despite her personalities Weaknesses: She has three different personalities...that's a pretty bad thing. Plot line: I would like to see Beth fall in love with someone who loves her despite her three very different personalities, but only after discovering more about herself to find her real self beneath all the drama that is her mind. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lady_Karajue: You don't need to type something up that is this detailed. I wrote it mostly for myself when I created Beth's character. I thought you'd like to see it in case it gives you any ideas for your character. I bolded the items that would probably be the most important. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's a blank copy if you would like to ever use it or modify it for yourself: Code:
