Raito flailed his arms when he heard the comment of octoroks, and that this was where epona came from.
"Hurry Epona! Hurry! I dun wanna be an octorok!!" the boy whined, his arms flailing so quickly they were a blur. He grabed her rains and when he did, it was as if he remembered everything about riding in a flash. He started to canter towards the ranch. After navi was sure Raito would stay on the horse and not jump off and cause chaos, she flew to the ranch ahead of him, to Raye. "Do you remember Malon? Or her father?" she asked, trying to job his memory. "we weren't here too long ago." |
As Toan got closer to the ranch, he felt something strange, he slowed down and leaned against the left wall within the entrance, "hold on guys... I have a feeling we're scaring Malon and her father." He had a suspicious look on his face as he slowly edged himself across the wall into the ranch, when he was close enough he poked his head around the corner and looked around. He didn't see anyone, just the barn and Malon's house, he heard the livestock moving about in the barn faintly, he let out a sigh of relief, "false alarm guys, there's no one out here." He let his guard down for just a little while as he walked past the corner and into the ranch.

"False alarm, guys, there's no one out there."
That was all Talon needed to hear before he popped out from behind the wall and captured the young man in a strong grip, his arms muscular from years of working with livestock. "Who are you?" The rancher demanded, shaking the stranger slightly. "Why are you on my ranch at this time of night? Huh? Speak up, boy! Thought you'd make off with some of my cattle, did ya? Or maybe--" "Dad," Malon spoke up suddenly from behind her father. "There are more." She counted heads silently; she was not foolish enough to rush into an encounter when neither she or her father knew anything about combat. Those who run away get to live another day; wasn't that how it was? There were too many of them for the two ranchers to safely fight. Worse, the strangers all seemed to be armed with a variety of weapons; and from the way they held them, they knew how to use them. |
When Garreth saw Toan grabbed his first reaction was to draw his sword. But when he heard what the man, who he recognized as Talon, ask if they were planning on taking cattle Garreth realized Talon thought they were thieves. And in a way he was justified in that way of thinking as they did seem a bit suspicious, especially at this time of night.
"Peace sir," Garreth said as he climbed off of Epona and held his hands above his head. "We mean you no harm. We have just come seeking food and shelter for the night. We have had a very strange day and we are weary from our journey." In a way not all of this was false. They did need food and shelter, and Garreth did feel tired, as if he had been journeying for a while, most likely because he had as Link. Garreth didn't mean to hide the truth, but who would believe their story. "So I ask that you let my friend go. We are not thieves and there is a woman and child with us." |
"Wha?!" Toan shouted out when Talon grabbed him, he struggled to break free, "let me go! I'm not here to take away anything, we just needed shelter from whats outside!" He stopped struggling when he heard Malon's voice, "Malon...?" Feeling Talon's grip getting looser he broke free and stumbled forward a little. He turned around and faced everybody, "okay, this may sound strange, but I'm quite sure its the truth..." he explained what had happened with Link and that his soul had shattered and turned into him and the others. Unsure of how they would react to his tale, he grew focused and prepared to defend himself against Talon in case he tried to grab him again.

"Malon!!" He had heard her mentioned from afar and made the horses canter turn into a full out run.
"Malon! Malon!" The horse stopped short right in front of Toan and Raito flew off via sheer inertia. He flew right over Toan and into Talon's arms. "M-Ahh! You're not Malon!" he laughed, tugging at the man's mustache. "Hi Talon! Did you miss me? I bet you did! Can I pet the chickens? Or are they sleeping?" the boy happily chattered on. |
Malon and Talon listened to the stranger's explanation. By the end of it, Talon's mustache was twitching; whether with anger, frustration, or amusement, his daughter could not tell. As for herself....
"Fairy Boy? You mean to tell me that you are ALL--" she pointed a finger at them. "--parts of the Fairy Boy that came here and won my Epona? Granted, I've heard stranger things, but still--" She stopped talking abruptly as a horse galloped up to where they all were standing, coming an abrupt halt and neatly throwing off its rider into Talon's arms. The man looked as if he did not know whether to keep holding onto the boy or drop him. Malon herself had gone to the horse in an instant. "Epona!" She cried, stroking the horse's forehead. She hummed a little of the song that her mother had taught her, and the horse whickered in reply. "It's really her, Dad. And you know that nobody but me and Fairy Boy could ride her.... Oh, and look!" She laughed delightedly as she spotted a small glowing figure hovering above them. "I remember that fairy... She was with Fairy Boy, too." Malon turned so that she was facing all of Fairy Boy's parts. "All right, I believe you. What do you think, Dad?" "....Mmmph. Sounds good enough to me," Talon mumbled in reply, the child still pulling at his mustache. "Well, you heard him," Malon said to them all crisply. "I'm afraid that the house isn't big enough for all of you.... A few of you will have to sleep in the hay loft of the barn. I'll leave the decision of who that is up to you all, of course." As she said this, she had to hide a sudden smile; this would be the first time she would actually see someone talking with themselves! The thought was enough to make her want to laugh, and a slight giggle did eventually escape from between her lips. |
Toan stumbled backwards slightly in surprise when Raito almost made Epona run him over, he looked over Epona's shoulder and saw Raito clearly show his true self. Toan sighed and smacked his face, his hand ran down it and went back to his side, a look of annoyance on his face when his hand ran down. He headed over to Raito, stomping a little and he grabbed Raito from behind by his shirt, lifting him up from Talon's arms, he put Raito down onto the ground. "Sorry Talon, he appears to be full of energy, like most kids are also we're sorry if we freaked you out, we didn't mean to." He shrugged his shoulders and looked down at Raito, still asking Talon a bunch of questions about the animals, he chuckled slightly. "I don't mind sleeping in the loft, I'd rather have that over a bed anyway, for some reason I like the thought of sleeping outside..." He replied to Malon, he folded his arms and waited for everyone else's decision.

"I shall sleep in the loft as well," Garreth said as he took Epona's rains and headed toward the stable so he could give her so feed. "It will be easier to keep watch that way. Raito and Sakuraka should sleep inside." Garreth then set about brushing Epona and generally taking care of her.

Raito whined as Toan tugged him off Talon, but then he just continued asking question about this and that. When Toan looked away for a second, Raito stuck his tongue out at the man.
At first he wanted to whine and say he wanted to sleep with the chickens, but his eyes sparkled at the mention of sleeping in the house with the girls and he skipped over to Malon, hugging her arm and looking up with wide, puppy dog eyes. "Malon, I don't wanna sleep alone...will you and Sakuraka sleep with me?" wether he was being a little perv or he was just honestly afraid of the dark, I'll leave up to you. |

"I agree that Raito and Sakuraka shall sleep inside. I also agree with Garreth. I will help take watch." He turned to address Malon. "Thank you very much for hospitality. It has been a very eventful day for us. I believe were all a bit bewildered." He gave her a bow and a smile that would melt any, single, girl's heart. "Is there anything we may help out with that needs doing?" this question he addressed both Talon and Malon. |

Sakuraka, who had been thinking about the strange things that had been happening to her in complete silence, nodded with a small smile. "I suppose that's alright," she agreed. She smiled at Malon. "I'm so sorry, I was thinking a lot," Sakuraka said sheepishly, "My name's Sakuraka." |
Toan had joined Garreth in taking care of Epona, taking an extra brush and combing her short hair that Garreth hadn't reached yet, she seemed to enjoy it. Pretty soon, he grew tired, but he finished up the last of the brushing and put back the brush, he let out a yawn and stretched a little bit, "perhaps we should all get some sleep now, I'm about to pass out..." he let out a chuckle and headed back over to Malon. "Thank you for your generosity, just point me the direction of the loft."

Talon's eyes lit up at the possibility of a few extra hands to help out. He opened his mouth to speak, but his daughter beat him to it.
"No, thank you, you are our guests," Malon replied firmly. Her tone indicated that she would not be argued with. "And you have all had quite the time of it. What's important now is that you get your rest." Turning to Sakuraka, her expression and tone softened, and she returned the girl's smile. "So, you're Fairy Boy's soft side? You and the child are more than welcome to sleep in the house with my father and I. We have some extra bedding somewhere, I'll have to find it.... Oh, yes," she added to Toan. "Just go into the barn and take the ladder. I'm afraid it's not going to be as comfortable as a bed, but the hay will keep you warm." Then she clasped her hands behind her back, as was her old habit ever since childhood. "By the way, I almost forgot. What am I and my father to call each of you? No, don't bother trying to introduce yourselves individually; just one of you will do." |
Sakuraka smiled gratefully to Malon. "Thankyou very much," she said.
"As I said, I'm Sakuraka... the child is Raito, the man in green is Toan, the man in red is Garreth, the man in blue is Raye, and the fairy is Navi," Sakuraka reeled off their names to Malon. |
Toan thought a moment, "since we're all a part of 'fairy boy', you can call us by his real name, which is Link, but I don't know how that would work out with Sakuraka, since she is female." He shrugged his shoulders when Saku introduced them all anyway, "how about all the boys are Link and she can still be called by her current name." He yawned once again, hunched over and tired, "alright, its time for some rest, come on Garreth, Raye, sleep well Saku, Raito, Malon and Talon." He gave them all a smile and headed off to the barn to get up to the loft, he opened the door, stepped inside and waiting for Garreth and Raye to join him at the door.

"That's probably the best thing," Sakura agreed. She had the inkling feeling that things would be easier if she were a boy and not a girl, but she kept this to herself. "Sleep well!" |
"Goodnight ladies..." He bowed to the girls, and winked at the boy. "Take good care of them eh lad?" ruffling his hair, he leaned over to Navi. "And you my good lady a eye on the boy." He gave her a conspiratorial wink. Both knowing the antics of small children and trouble.
He stepped away and to the barn. He followed the other of the older 'Links" just inside the door. "I think were all in agreement to take turns with a watch? I didn't like the look of the mist. Then there was our accident earlier today as well." He looked about carefully suspecting shadows of treason. "It is our duty to protect not only ourselves, but those we reside under." |

"I shall take the first watch," Garreth said as he walked just outside the barn and found a nice barrel to sit on. "I am not very tired and I need to sharpen my sword. It seems that our past self was lax when it came to weapon maintenance. I will leave it to the two of you too decide who goes next. I trust you have no objections?" As he said this he pulled his sword from it's scabbard and took a sharpening stone from his pocket and set about increasing the functionality of his blade.

"Very well Garreth, I'll go next and then Raye will, it sounds like a plan to me, good night Garreth" he turned around and headed over to the ladder that led up to the loft. The giant pile of hay looked quite comfy in his tired state, he turned around and fell backwards into the pile, using his hands as a pillow, he let out a sigh and moved around a bit to get comfy. "Ahh..." He said, letting out one last yawn after, "good night Raye, lets just try to get some sleep and worry about the danger later" he closed his eyes and started to quietly snore almost instantly.

"Well, it's good to make your acquaintances... Again, I suppose," Malon laughed slightly. "Have a good sleep; my father and I typically rise at dawn to take care of the livestock. We'll breakfast around then, too, but if you do not wake in time we'll save you some food."
She turned towards the house, motioning for her father, Sakuraka, and Raito to follow. "Come, it's time we got you settled, as well." |
Sakura smiled and followed Malon into the house.
"Thankyou," she said again, "This land is strange to us, it's so good of you to offer us shelter." |

Navi grinned at the wink and gave a nod, bowing. "Night~ Night! I'll come by later tonight to check up on you guys!" Raito beamed. He was important!! Awww yeah~! Takin' care of the ladies! Then they could all go play tag in the morning! "Nighty~ Niiight~!" he called to the other guys, and skipped into the house beside Malon. Navi gave one brief look towards the retreating backs of the men, then followed the group inside. "And you'll have your own cot, Raito." The boy let out a whine and his eyes immidiately teared up. "B-but...I gotta protect everyone! I should stay with Malon and Sakura!" He clung to the former of the girl's arm again. |
Some strange noise erupted from Sakura's thraot. She jumped in surprise; was that a giggle?? Then she remembered that she wasn't meant to be Link anymore, and sighed. She'd had a lot to get used to in this new form...
