Empire Souls - A KH RP with a twist. (Open and accepting!)

"For as long as anyone can remember, the Keyblade has been the scales of truth. It balances the endless dance of Light and Dark, Yin and Yang. We have all heard the stories of Heroes of The Light, and their triumph when Darkness is destroying the land. But what about when the reverse is true? Who do we go to when Light consumes all, and Darkness is our only relief?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A note to fans of the KH series, before we begin:
This story is a hybrid of original work and fanfiction. Some of the ideas, such as Light being the negative force, and Dark the good, are original. However the 'Empire Souls', 'Soulless', and 'Empire Key' ideas, and related 'paralells' to Kingdom Hearts related materials, are fan work. Therefore, I do not claim ownership to their insperation, but I do claim to have come up with the 'paralell' idea myself.
For fans who wonder about their favorites; Yes, Sora, Riku, and Kairi will make an apperance... IF YOU WANT. They will be ENEMIES, however, UNLESS you side with LIGHT!
Please see the OOC Thread ( Which can be found here ) for rules and character profiles.
Plotline:
Earth, December 21st, 2012 AD, 12:00 AM midnight.
Some night owls were up, but many were woken when a 6.7 magnitude earthquake rocked the whole planet to it's core. Felt worldwide, something was happening. Something was changing. For three different people - complete strangers - life was about to change dramatically. It would never be the same.
The story will start in Dusk City, where the three keyblade users will regain consciousness in a random location, and meet up with their other two companions for the journey. From there on, the story is relatively straightforward.
Other:
Possible theme music
I have several different ideas for 'themes' for this RP.
They are music links. Just like KH I and II had themesongs at the beginning, Empire Souls should have one, too. This can be found on my recently created website. I am also going to start compiling everything on there, but since the RP is on Menewsha, that is still the primary input for characters. Everything on the site is refrence, and may or may not be up to date. http://empiresouls.bravehost.com/
Kitsu woke up suddenly when she felt a strange tremor coming from the ground. She was almost rocketed out of the tree she was perching in for the night. What is going on? She thought while dangling from a low branch, I’ve never felt anything like this before. Another tremor shook her out of the tree and she landed just below it. Wanting to make sure there was no immediate danger, Kitsu sat up and looked at her surroundings. Only the nocturnal critters were moving about. With the recent quake her world, Port Royal, was still the same as always.
As the quake shook one last tremor, Kitsu stood up and brushed off the grass and leaves that was clinging to her. She looked up at the sky to see how close it was to morning. The moon’s only halfway through its course, She pondered, I still have a few hours before I need to move again. Kitsu checked her surroundings again. It was a little to quiet for her taste. Something is definitely going on. I wonder what it is?
The Cheshire cat was up to his old tricks again. His feet pitter-patted across the floor of the Red Queen’s castle. He looked around the corner and saw two guards posted for the midnight hour. His grin widened as he started to disappear. With only his eyes and smile showing, he walked right between the guards. They looked at the disembodied cat eyes and grin with bewilderment. In a moment the cat was completely gone.
The guards shook their heads and decided that nothing was there in the first place. For some odd reason, the cat sensed that something had gone wrong. All of a sudden there was a shock-wave of sorts. Small but it still made a few potted plants fall over. Well this doesn’t seem well,the cat thought to himself, I'd better get out of here before the Queen think it was my fault. Staying invisible he made quick work in leaving the castle.
Terra awoke with a start, all traces of the dream she had been having vanishing from her conscious recollection. Something was wrong--horribly wrong. There was a disturbance amongst the worlds, a shock that echoed across the entire universe. She had never felt anything like it, not even when... Well, she didn't like to think about that incidence. Suffice to say that this was a thoroughly strange occurrence. She looked up at the boughs of the gnarled tree she had been sleeping under--they were still swaying slightly, reeling from the tremor. The planet had shuddered under the force of a great, unknown power. And from the way it had felt, she had a hunch that the other worlds had undergone the same.
Getting up and stretching, Terra began making her way to where she had landed her gummi ship, outside of the castle of the Queen of Hearts; she had been in Wonderland for a few days doing some research on magic. As she approached the ship, her foot caught on something large and soft, and she found herself falling to the ground; she had the good sense to tuck into a roll so she didn't completely wipe out. She stood up and dusted herself off, looking around for what she might have tripped on, but could see nothing. "Peculiar..." she muttered, scratching the back of her head.
Liros 08-14-2009 07:53 PM
Falling... falling... falling.
Liros felt like she'd been falling forever. She had left Earth, headed to god knows where, to save it... or, more accurately, for the chance to save it. There was no promise that Earth could be brought back. She'd hated the life she'd lived there... hated the way people had treated her... hated the crushing loneliness in her soul. But to lose it all? As she remembered having yelled at the strange disembodied voice, and the stranger cloaked in white robes, "It may be crappy, but this is MY crap-world! And you can't just take it away!" Of course, they'd retorted "We'll see about that." and hit her with a blast of energy she'd been helpless against...
And now she was lying on cold ground, the scent of city in her nose... wait... CITY?!
With a jolt, the blue-haired female sat up, looking around as her gold, honey-colored eyes readjusted. This was a city alright. But not her home. It was all... different. Looking over, a sign she noticed read "Dusk City Tailors". So this was Dusk City? She'd never heard of it before... Dusting off her black skirt, Liros put her feet under her, and stood, taking in the surroundings. What now?
Lucentas 08-14-2009 08:06 PM
Inside the Gummi Ship, Terra perused the navigation system. Most of the worlds seemed to be normal. But what was that new entry on the map? "Dusk City..." she whispered to herself. "Interesting..." With that, she set the warp drive to the mysterious location, and the ship rocketed off into the space between the worlds.
***
"Amazing..." Terra breathed, looking around at the city she had landed in. She had never seen any world like it, and she wondered how it had come about. Certainly, it had something to do with that strange shock she had felt earlier, and she was determined to get to the bottom of things. Suddenly, she spied a blue-haired girl, seemingly not much younger than herself, and looking just as awestruck. "Hello, there!" Terra called out. In a mysterious place such as this, safety was probably found in numbers. "Are you new here, too?"
Liros 08-14-2009 08:12 PM
Liros jumped nearly a foot in the air when she heard someone speak, the strange key-like weapons she'd used to fight off strange white creatures before, coming into her hands as she tensed up. She instantly took a fighting stance; left arm held level with her head, arm out and bent at the elbow, so the weapon was upside-down, in a pose reminiscent of a scorpion's tail ready to strike, and the right arm was in front of her, the key-weapon in this hand at the ready to lash out. "Who are you?" She demanded warily, not advancing, but not retreating either. This person looked... normal enough... ((I need to draw up what we're gonna be fighting. There aren't Heartless in the Light-infected worlds... they're Soulless. Go ahead. Shoot me for the bad pun.))
Lucentas 08-14-2009 08:23 PM
((Lol, that's all right. That's a cool sort of "opposite" to Heartless, I think. Can't wait to see what you've got.))
Terra stepped back, surprised at this "greeting". Had she approached the wrong person? She, too, stood her ground, and tightened her grip on her staff, although she held out her hand in front of her in a gesture of peace. The thought occurred to her that, if this girl was as new to the world as Terra herself was, she might be feeling disoriented as well, and that could easily channel itself into hostility towards strangers. It was understandable. But she determined to show the girl that she meant no harm. "I'm sorry if I frightened you," she said sympathetically. "My name is Terra. I don't want to fight, nor am I going to hurt you. What's your name?" As she spoke, her eyes darted back and forth from the girl's own gold eyes to the keyblades she wielded. Terra was intrigued. She hadn't seen many people carrying those in her travels, and she wondered why the girl had them.
Liros 08-14-2009 08:37 PM
With a sigh, Liros released the key-weapons, which vanished in a small shower of blue-violet particles. Coming forward a few paces, she held out her right hand, as if to shake. "I'm Liros. My apologies for the hasty defensiveness, miss Terra. You wouldn't believe how I got here, even if I told you..."
Lucentas 08-14-2009 08:48 PM
Terra smiled and shook Liros' hand. Looked like she would have an ally here, after all. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Liros," she said in reply. "And don't worry about it--arriving at a new place can set anyone on edge." She raised an eyebrow at Liros's last statement. She didn't particularly like being told what she would or wouldn't believe. "Try me," she said with a grin. She knew more than most people expected. Although what with recent events, she was rapidly discovering that there was much she didn't know.
Liros 08-14-2009 09:07 PM
She looked around nervously for a moment. "Do you know of somewhere we can talk in private? I don't fancy standing around on the street like this, even though it seems... kind of deserted. That's actually more worrisome." She said, shaking her head slightly, so her cerulean, shoulder-length hair flopped about a little.
((Maybe we should slow down a little, or wait?))
Lucentas 08-14-2009 09:13 PM
Terra looked around, noticing what Liros was getting at. "You're right...something's off here, though I can't quite put my finger on it." She debated ducking into one of the nearby alleys--they would afford privacy, but who knew what could be lurking in them... What was going on in this world? "Actually, I just got here, myself," Terra admitted. "I've never been here before..." She wanted to add, and I've been just about everywhere else, but that might be taken as bragging, and she loathed bragging. "Perhaps we can find somewhere if we both search together." Somewhere safe, she meant to say. But she felt that much was obvious.
((Sure...we can slow down or wait if you want. Might be a good idea. How long should we wait?))
Liros 08-14-2009 09:42 PM
((Maybe a day or so? I want to wait for more people to join))
Liros hopped up onto a crate, her knees together so that she wasn't flashing her underwear to anyone looking at her, since she was wearing a skirt. "Make yourself comfortable somewhere... It's a long story." She said. Once Terra was settled, Liros began.
It had been late at night, when an earthquake had shook the whole planet. Liros had jumped to her feet, and gotten dressed hastily, rushing outside to find that the road in front of her home had cracked open. Strange, pure-white creatures with bright blue eyes were running around, destroying whatever they could get at, and were coming out of the crack in the ground. She tried to beat them with a nearby, fallen tree branch, but that didn't work. In her hands, the branch vanished, and two key-like weapons appeared instead. So she used those, which seemed to actually work. However, the creatures were only being deflected by the blunt objects, rather than being injured. Soon, she was surrounded, and swarmed... A strange figure in white appeared, and the creatures vanished. There was a long, drawn-out argument of the fate of the planet at the end of which, she was thrown into a white void that was so endlessly textureless, she had to shut her eyes, or go blind...
"And when I woke, I was here..." She said, shaking her head. "I don't think my planet is there anymore."
Lucentas 08-14-2009 10:01 PM
Terra sat and thought for a while, mulling over every bit of information Liros had given her. She had been half-expecting a story like "my gummi ship crashed" or "I fell through a dimensional portal", but Liros's tale certainly trumped those. "White creatures...with blue eyes..." she murmured, trying hard to come up with an adequate mental image. "And a white void...and you say you don't know if your planet is even there... This is most peculiar, indeed. And disturbing. I'm wondering if that shock wave had anything to do with it. You did feel it, didn't you?" Mentally, she was putting two and two together, and the idea of the shock wave and the mysterious white creatures being related was looking more and more feasible. Something had gone terribly wrong with the universe--an entire world had possibly been destroyed. Would the world they were in be next to fall? She held her head in thought, wondering what could possibly be done.
((Okay, sounds good. I guess I'll wait, then.))
white2fire 08-15-2009 06:19 PM
((I'm gone for a day, and look what happens. I hope you don't mind me posting. I feel like I need to keep at least one of my characters around.))
Once the cat had gotten out of the castle. He slowed down a bit but decided it would be better to stay invisible for a while. While he wasn't paying attention someone had bumped into the cat. Instead of calling out he thought better of it and looked to see who it was. No surprise it was someone who wasn't a native of Wonderland. A girl wearing neutral colors.
When the girl went into a flying transportation device, he followed her into it. Maybe she knows something about this sudden force,the cat thought. She was very quiet but mentioned something about "Dusk City." When the girl went out of the spaceship he quietly followed her. The scenery had changed and the cat started to wonder where he was. Not for long though as the two travelers ran into a girl with blue hair. He watched the two girls introducing each other. Finding they knew nothing of the recent disturbance, the Cheshire Cat decided to make an appearance. "Good afternoon, Terra. Liros," the cat stated as he quit being invisible in front of both girls.
Lucentas 08-15-2009 09:59 PM
Terra jumped as suddenly a pink-and-purple-striped cat appeared in front of her--one that both talked and knew her and Liros' names, for that matter. She raised an eyebrow in curiosity. "I beg your pardon, but...who are you? How long have you been watching us?" The thought occurred to her that since the cat had been invisible before, it might have been spying on the two as they introduced themselves, thereby solving the mystery of how it knew their names.
She wondered just why it had been spying on them, and if it had anything to do with the shock wave...or if it was working for whatever had caused it. A sense of apprehension filled her, and she stiffened, hoping she wouldn't have to fight.
Liros 08-18-2009 12:29 AM
"Homigawd! Talking cat!" Liros cried out as she fell backwards off the crate she was sitting on. Pink-n-purple talking felines were not commonplace in her world... Once she had righted herself, she looked at the strange feline curiously. "If I scratch you behind the ears, do you still purr?" She asked, looking at the cat curiously, now over the 'freakout'. This was a cat, after all... Liros loved cats. No matter how oddly colored.
Lucentas 08-18-2009 12:34 AM
Terra laughed over Liros's reaction, but it puzzled her somewhat. Then she remembered that not everyone was a world-wanderer as she was. Perhaps the girl really had never seen a talking cat. With the various places Terra had been and people and creatures she had met, she was rarely surprised by anything any more.
white2fire 08-18-2009 03:24 AM
The Cheshire cat started to grin. Purrrrfect, he thought, They will be excellent prey. Oh, I do enjoy games. He licked his right paw. When he was finished, he smiled politely and started to speak. "People call me the Cheshire cat. I have been watching you, Terra, since you landed in my world. I suppose that would be the right term. I met Liros the same time you did."
He waited a few seconds before continuing, "No one's scratched me before. I'm generally not liked in my world. So I might. Purr that is." He jumped onto the crate Liros had been sitting on and waited for her to pet him. His tail moved slowly back and forth, patiently expecting the scratch.
Lucentas 08-18-2009 04:22 AM
"Oh, I see..." Terra frowned. She didn't really like the idea of an invisible entity following her around without her knowledge. "And which world did you come from, exactly?" She wondered if it were the one she had just come from--things had been nonsensical enough there for this strange creature to be right at home.
Liros 08-21-2009 06:24 PM
Liros smirked; so, it seemed, talking cat or not, he still behaved like a normal cat... Smiling, Liros reached out with her right hand, and gently ran her hand from the top of the Cheshire Cat's head, down his back. She repeated this five more times before she put her fingers behind the Cat's left ear and scratched gently, almost more like a massage than a scratching, because her nails were kept rather short, since it made them easier to clean. She smirked, then stopped, remembering something dreadful; Her home! Her cat! Oh no...
Liros's hand fell away from the pink and magenta fur, and she bit down on her lower lip, forcing herself to not cry. "Damnit. I just remembered..." She shook her head, blue hair flipping about with the movement, and hiding her golden eyes when she stopped. "My home. I think Earth is gone..."
Lucentas 08-21-2009 07:46 PM
Terra looked over at Liros, concerned. "Gone? What do you mean?" Had it really been swallowed by light, destroyed by those unusual creatures Liros had mentioned earlier? And what was this "Earth" place? In all her travels, she had never been to, or even heard of, such a world. She wondered just how far away Liros had come from. She looked to the striped cat, wondering if he held any answers.
white2fire 08-21-2009 08:05 PM
"I come from Wonderland," The cat stated, "It's much more interesting than this town as far as I can see." He started purring as Liros petted him. He closed his eyes and continued purring but louder this time as she started to scratch behind her ears. Liros stopped all of a sudden and the Cheshire cat heard how up she was. He opened his eyes and jumped down from the crate to nuzzle Liros.
He felt Terra staring at him. The cat made a slight frown more from annoyance than anger. This type of person was harder to fool around with. Too real for his taste, although they were still fun to play with when there was nothing else around. He turned and looked straight at Terra, "What?"
Lucentas 08-21-2009 08:53 PM
"You heard Liros's story, didn't you?" Terra asked the cat. "Do you know anything about this? White creatures, worlds disappearing? And what about that shock wave earlier?" He seemed harmless enough, but "seemed" was the key word there. If Terra had learned anything during her travels, it was that things were never as they seemed. Besides, she didn't like the tone in his voice--too smarmy, too condescending. She wasn't ready to trust him just yet.
white2fire 08-21-2009 10:24 PM
"Look," the cat jumped back onto the crate so he didn't have to look up as much, "I don't know what your problem is with me, but how could I know anything about these creatures if I have never even set foot out of my world before? I think our first plan should be to go around here and see if anyone else would know of what has happened. Or we could go into your ship and travel to the next place it tells us to."
He was starting to get bored so he made a big grin and started to slowly disappear. First his tail, then his paws and legs. Then everything was gone except for his grin and eyes. "Since you seem to be so smart why don't you find a way to take care of things," the cat said as he disappeared from sight completely. He was still there listening to them. I need to be behind the scenes for a bit, he told himself as he jumped off the crate quietly. I'll have to stay close as Terra is my way back to Wonderland.
Liros 08-23-2009 08:03 AM
"You chased him off." Liros said, sulking slightly. She shook her head, and slid off the crate, walking off, out of the alleyway. "Maybe this is some sort of curse, and I should stay alone." Liros thought, her Keyblades coming into her loose hands unconsciously as she clenched them, balling her hands into fists of impotent rage. This wasn't fair at all. Why was SHE always the outcast? The one who was different? True, she didn't want to conform to 'normalcy', but it wasn't fair to pick on her like this! It felt like everything was one bad turn after another.
