Shinji knocked on the door of the Nara house and then shoved his hands in his pockets.

Kaze slurped down the last of her soup quickly and wandered to the door. "How did I know it would be you?" She asked dryly as she slipped her shoes on.

Shinji shrugged and replied just as dryly, "You are a genius, ne?"

Kaze smirked, "Yeah whatever. Let's go."

OOC: Karin, please leave some enemies for the others. lol.

I'm leaving you seven. I'm killing these two and then I'm hiding again. You're perfectly welcome to have more pop out of the trees if you like. *grin*

He sheathed the katana, and grabbed the naginata haft with both hands. He needed them closer for this to work. For this to have a chance to work. The first part he could do well enough, but the second part had failed last time he tried it. He was pretty sure what had gone wrong though. With the technique at any rate. What had really gone wrong was that he'd broken six of Ibiki's windows last time he'd tried it. How to get them closer? 'Maybe', he thought, 'Maybe the way they caught us.' He used the naginata to draw a line in the dirt between him and them. As taunts go, it was pretty obvious.

OOC: Seven is plenty, lol. Now we just have to wait for some other people to check in. I have to go for a while. I'll check in before I go to bed.

Kaida waited for her female cousin to leave the building before she slipped from her provided room and into the bathrrom to take a shower and change. She pulled on her normal outfit and placed her hitai-ate((I think that's what they're called?)) around her neck again. After finishing that she secured her gourd back around her waist and tied her hair up in it's normal half up in a messy ponytail fashion. She tugged on her panda's paw and dragged it behind her as she walked down the stairs and into the dining room. She sat down at what she supposed was her place, she noted Soyokaze's empty dishes and glanced out the window from the corner of her eyes. Her expression was neutral as she pulled her hitai-ate down and started to eat, grateful that Yoshino knew she didn't eat much.

After finishing Kaida placed her dishes in a neat pile and then left the compound, heading for Konoha's academy to meet her new sensei.

"Wake up!" Came the loud cry from downstairs, Kaito groaned and rolled off the bed, landing on his bedroom's floor with a loud thud. Tenshi wandered over and pawed at Kaito's head/face with one of her front paws, wondering why he was snoring face down on the floor. A few moments later he was up and running a hand through his disheveled hair, sporting a big bump on his head while his mother stood in the doorway, glaring at him and holding a soup ladle in one hand. Kaito muttered under his breath and went to grab his normal outfit before slipping into his small bathroom to get ready for his big day.

After practically inhaling his food, Kaito was happily on his way towards the academy. Tenshi bounded after him, barking happily. A few of the villager's he passed greeted him and some of them even had treats for Tenshi, "You are one spoiled dog." Kaito said to Tenshi, watching her chew happily on a random treat she had just gotten. When Kaito looked up again he slowed his pace, the Suna girl was in front of him, walking at a slow and steady pace as if she had all the time in the world.

Satoshi tapped his foot impatiently, blowing stray bangs from his eyes. The room was so empty that the tapping bounced off the walls and acted as a steady metronome. He hated to be stationed in the aviary. The only papers sent by birds now-a-days were treaties and peaceful documents of that nature. Nothing exciting. He exhaled loudly, leaning his dark head against the stone wall behind him and shutting his emerald eyes. 'It's just for a few hours...Then you can go ho-" The ruffling of feathers interrupted his thoughts and alerted him of the arrival of a new message. His eyes immediately blinked back open, and he kicked himself off the wall. "Finally," Satoshi mumbled, anxiously untying the attachment from the bird's leg. He flipped the crumbled paper open and his eyes instantly widened. "H-Hokage-sama! We have a problem!" He yelled loudly as he flung himself out of the aviary and down the winding hall to the Hokage's office.

OOC: Shouldn't there be someone that plays Konohamaru? o_o

"It's so hard to believe it's been three years already.." The village was just now showing signs of life in the early hours of the morning, but Kaori had already been up for several hours. "Today I get my own team of genin," She mumbled with a hint of disbelief, her hands folded neatly behind her back. She stood alone in front of Konoha's infamous Memorial Stone, her eyes lowered to take in a particular name carved into the rock. It was her own, personal custom to go there and consult her fallen friend whenever something major was about to happen or prior to leaving on an important mission. "I'm sure that you would've been a great sensei, Takeo. Way better than me.." Kaori freed her hands and with her right caressed the engraving of her former teammate's name. "I didn't realize how many memories it would bring back when I agreed to take a squad. I just.." She inhaled sharply, shutting her eyes in a feeble attempt to hold back tears. "I-I guess, just..look over us, okay?" Her eyes blinked open, granting permission for a stray tear to run down the length of her tanned cheek. "I'm sure you have a nicer view than me," She added, tracing his name with her fingertips one last time before stepping away. Kaori blinked away any remaining tears as she began to walk away. After all, a sensei should never be caught crying by her pupils, especially not on the first day.

And yet one of them fell for it. The wounded one, obviously, the smarter of the pair, stayed back, moving to where he could get a better shot. Shineji noted the katana at the wounded man's waist and realized he was probably more of a close range fighter. He also saw that the injury was far deeper than he'd dared to hope. It would impede the man's ability to use that blade, and even his ability to make hand signs. The unhurt one, having obviously decided that Shineji wasn't a threat anymore, rushed forward, hand forming a claw. "I'll kill you, you little bratling!" Okay, that was annoying. He wasn't that short! He swept the blade of the naginata forward as though preparing to meet the charge, the base kicking up a dust cloud beside his wounded leg. His lower hand, concealed by the upraised knee, formed half hand signs. A little closer....now! "Kaze no Kusari" He swapped the blade for the base lashing out with the newly formed cyclone. The winds cut the charging opponent to pieces, as well as putting a dust cloud between Shineji and his final opponent. Shineji dropped a handful of senbon into the winds, sending them along the cyclone's path. Yes. He'd only nicked the enemy nin, but Jin always poisoned his senbon. The man had drawn his blade, figuring the dust cloud worked to hide both their movements; perhaps he realized he didn't have much time. Shineji swung the naginata in a circle above his head, lashing out towards where his opponent had been in a wide swathe of sickle winds. The dust cleared; the forest showed the effects of his technique, but-. There behind him. Shineji reacted swiftly, turning, leaping to his feet, bracing himself for the pain. At the same instant that he felt a katana crease his side beneath his ribcage, he drove the naginata through flesh and bone, killing his final opponent before collapsing in pain. Wearily, he dragged himself to a sitting position, grabbed the enemy nin's weapon pouch and ripped off both the nin's sleeves. He used the sleeves to bandage his side as well as he could, freed his naginata from the enemy's chest, and crawled into the forest. He found a new hiding place which he judged far enough from the clearing, set his traps using the enemy's shuriken and kunai, checked his bandaged wounds, and finally, gave into exhaustion, passing out.

Kaida froze as she walked past the front gates of Konoha, there was something...out there. She turned her gaze toward the upper wall, where the tops of trees could be seen. There had been a large burst of chakra nearby, like a fight or something. He lips pressed together to form a thin line, she technically was supposed to stay within the village's walls...Her hand moved towards her gourd and soon she was gone in a small swirl of sand, concealing her chakra like her father had taught her.

When she reappeared she was just outside the village walls and quickly ducked into the forest before any of the guards could see her. Blood, the scent of blood was everywhere. Kaida blinked and continued moving unflinchingly even as the wind blew another gust of the foul smelling air towards her. Soon she came upon a clearing where bodies were strewn. She bent down next to the closest body and examined it, those weren't normal wounds more like...the wind had decided to tear this particular man apart. She straightened up and directed her gaze towards the forest, someone else was still out there...she attached chakra strings to her panda and placed it onto the dirt ground before jumping up onto the nearest tree branch. While her panda crawled along on the forest floor Kaida followed in the treetops. She stopped after a few moments and then continued moving her panda, jerking it back into her arms when it accidentally set off a bunch of traps. She jumped backwards to avoid one of the traps and waited, half hidden in tree leaves, to see what would happen next.

Kaito blinked, one minute the younger girl had been in front of him, now, she was nowhere to be seen. Maybe she'd appeared in the academy like they were supposed to? He hurried in the direction of the academy and was sorely disappointed when he didn't see her there. Soyokaze would surely blame him for her cousin's absence...not good. He groaned and flopped onto the ground, he could try tracking her but Tenshi was horrible at tracking, he was still trying to get her to actually try. This wasn't good...hopefully the younger girl would show up soon...

((OOC: Where is this all taking place? D: Is it outside of Konoha? I figured it was farther away since a bird was sent..))

((I have no idea actually...I just figured it'd be best to bring all the characters together so...Kaida went to explore XD))

OOC: Somewhere between 4-8 hrs out, I'd guess, somebody should PM Saravi for a better location; It's got to be close enough for you guys to lend aid, but far enough that I can't make it back. Feel free to bring the genin though; I specifically sent the rest of my rank out on similar missions to explain why they'd be sending genin.

OOC: Don't bother. We can just fudge it off. Since we're both wind users, the smells and sounds of battle are being carried on the wind back to Konoha. We can put it on the low end of the range I suggested. 2 to 4 hours out from Konoha, say 40-60 miles out. Stuff like this happens all time in roleplays; just suspend disbelief and ignore discrepancies.

Whoever finds him, remember he has traps set up.

Shineji woke just long enough to figure out where he was; the fights had moved him much closer to Konoha then he dared to hope; he was less than two hours out. Thirty miles was more than he could make in his current state, but it was close enough that one of the border patrols might find him, or even a particularly foolish daredevil genin, like Kira had been. He closed his eyes in pain and grief, remembering when she'd convinced him and Jin to race to the fire country border. Dwelling on what was, he passed out again, hoping someone might find him soon.

((ack, I meant Kaida accidentally already set off some of the traps >.>))

No problem, I can work with that.
He woke up, again, only minutes after passing out the second time; realizing what woke him up in the first place. Someone had set off one of his outer traps. He thought about that for a moment; he hadn't had much time or much energy when he'd set up the traps for this hiding place. An experienced ninja could probably have by passed the outer layer. An experienced ninja probably would have just hit this place with a fireball by now. Regardless, he was too exhausted to do anything about it. He hoped whoever was out there wasn't an enemy, and if they weren't an enemy, he hoped they could get past his traps.

When nothing happened Kaida carefully came out of hiding, now that she knew there were traps she closed her eyes and reached out with her counsciousness ((please excuse my atroscious spelling...)) and then opened her eyes again, carefully picking her way through the traps. She didn't have much ninja training outside of what she learned at the academy in Suna and her father but getting through traps...that much she could do. When she finally got through what she hoped was the last of them she found herself standing in front of a man...a leaf ninja perhaps? judging by his hitai-ate...who seemed worse for wear.

Sand hitai-ate. Shineji breathed a sigh of relief. At that age and with that hair, there was only one sand nin the girl could possibly be. Sabaku no Kaida, currently living in leaf. "Kaida-hime, can you use Sand Shunshin? teleportation " If she could, he'd send her back to Konoha to get her Jounin sensei. The sooner Hokage-sama got his report, the better it would be for Konoha.

Kaida nodded and then hesitated before reaching for the man's arm. He really was a leaf nin if he knew who she was, though she mentally cringed at the name. So back to the fact that he was a leaf nin, it would be safe to bring him back she supposed. Judging by their distance she'd only be able to get both of them back to the outer wall, but that should be close enough, somebody was sure to have noticed her absence by now anyway.

OOC:Is she ever gonna talk?! LOL! Considering the average amount of text in my posts, I'll start highlighting actual speech.

Shineji noticed the flinch. Ah, she didn't like "-hime". He'd remember that then. Good for her. He saw her reach for his arm. He blinked. Was she.. "Are you strong enough to get us both back?" he asked. He hated to ask for help. Accepting help like that from a genin grated on his sensibilities, but Shinobi Rule 4. The mission outweighed his pride. "If not, could you just get your sensei?"
