"Right. This way," Sheryn turned and walked out the door, kicking the dirty clothes to one side. "Terrin is nice enough, but strict. If she says to hold your arms a certain way while measuring you, do it before she forces your arms there. I'm not even an exception with her." ~Don't you have a dress you need fitted?~ -Shards, yes...- "I needed to see her anyway, so this isn't out of my way today."

"I don't what, I don't sag?" Mellony laughed again, then turnd back to the group of girls. "I told you to get back to your lessons, now go!" They slunk off, protesting all the way. Beauty perched on her shoulder, and chirped to J'lor. "Now, now. I never said I wouldn't go to Southern, just that I wouldn't see the Hatching. I would love to see everyone again."

He shook his head "No... I was going to say look a day over thirty..." he chuckled and pulled a sheet of paper out of his pocket, "I figured you snoopy Harpers would like a recount of the hatching anyway. Not that many people care about them anymore." He smiled sadly at Wiketh, "Most of the holders up here think that you guys are a drain on their resources." He shook his head and watched Sam berating other firelizards. For a green, she acts like a queen! He laughed out loud.
It's because you treat her like one.


"I do not. Shes well trained." He pouted.

"Fine." She says looking down at herself. "Can choose what kind of clothes right?... I mean, I can finally look pretty and not worry about my safety, so, I'd like to choose how i dress"

"Yeah, not that she would put you in something ugly. She's actually going to hate that I made you bathe before seeing you," Sheryn said, walking a touch slow. "She hates seeing baggy or ill-fitting clothes on people. You can probably expect the first outfit to be done before tomorrow." -Wasn't that dress supposed to be for the Hatching?- ~Yes. You were supposed to go get it fitted three days ago.~ -Oops?-

"It's a Harper's business to record everything. Though that's become a lot easier in recent Turns," Menolly said, reaching up and patting Wiketh on his side. "So when were you going to steal me away? The sooner I'm gone from here, the less likely you'll have those girls come back."

Shuddering he groaned theatrically, "Shards. Those girls." Running a hand through his hair he looked up and held his dragons eyes with his, "What is it? I mean honestly. They don't throw themselves at other riders like that." Its just because I'm so hot. Wiketh gave a rumbling chuckle and bent down low to assist Menolly on board, "Oh Right! You know, I thought dragons where not supposed to be so vain!" He guffawed.

"Nice. So, she'll let me choose the style right" She looks up at Sheryn with innocent eyes.

"She should..," Sheryn raised an eyebrow. "She's also not a fan of showing too much bare skin. But she has this interesting see-through material, here, look closely at my shirt," she said, grabbing one sleeve and holding it a bit away from her skin. "It breathes wonderfully, it's how I can stand pants down here, sometimes."

"Dragons can be vain, like any other creature in the world. Personally, i think it's because of your hair. Most of them would like your hair for themselves," she said. "Let's get going already! I came out here to go south, why aren't we going?"

He shook his head and nodded, "Right right." He chuckled and jumped up on his dragon, "Wiketh!" The beast roared and stretched his wings, "Your secure right?" He called over his shoulder to Menolly as Wiketh sprung into the air beating his wings slowly and powerfully, "Right! Lets get up out of sight of the hold before we go between!" He called out, giving the Harper a chance to hear. "Hold on Tight. I don't want to get blamed if you fall off between!" he translated for Wiketh, "What kind of honor would I have if I let the most beloved songstress in pern vanish!" Shaking his head he frowned playfully, She's flown between plenty of times before. Probably more than either of us! He added to the big beast as he banked tightly and began to glide lazily across the Hold.

"I've seen that fabrick around the hold. I was thinking about using it for part of my outfit" 'What are we doing now?' Feng turns to her dragon, "We're getting me new clothes" 'Why do you need these clothes? Can't you just go around as you are?' "No. We humans need clothes. Think of our clothes as our version of scales, except we can change them and some are even good for protecting our skin."

"You know, if you think what you want to say to Amaranth, she'll hear you. It's really useful," Sheryn said, turning a corner and heading down some stairs. "And I don't think Terrin would let you have an outfit without the fabric, it get's so hot down here."

"You'd probably have the honor of being hunted by most of the Harpers in Pern!" Menolly said, leaning close so she didn't have to yell as loudly. "I've been between often enough to know not to let go! Shards, I've been going between longer than you've been alive!"

"Well of course the outfit won't be indecent," She exclaims with mock horror mimicking the stereotipical, uppity, nanny voice, "Just thinking about the scandal makes me Weak in the knees!" She then laughs. "Don't worry. It won't be that bad!"

After being nearly dragged into Terrin’s room Sedna was not very happy. She and Terrin were arguing…as usual. You see, Sedna had this habit of not letting anyone get too close and making/tailoring her own clothing as best she could. Her clothing was simple enough so Terrin did not understand why, resulting in her being a little insulted.
“It’s been more then a year! Time for new cloths!”
“…I had enough to last more then a year, two years in fact… Just leave it be!”
The two shouted at each other and were now nearly glaring at each other. It was an odd sight because with everyone else Sedna seemed fairly cooperative, if distant. With Terrin though, she didn’t listen to a word. She simply crossed her arms over her chest and took a deep breath, her dark eyes staring into Terrin’s unflinchingly.

Told you. Don't worry you big lunk Patting his dragon he grinned, "one express flight to southern Weyr, Coming right up!" Holding the image of the weyr in his mind he grunted as the bone chilling cold hit him again. Popping out of Between, Wiketh dropped quickly, plummeting towards his riders hut. Oh, Whats this? I thought earlier you where gungho about flying.

That was then, now I want a nap.

You surely must be the laziest dragon on Pern!

Am not.

Sheryn laughed. "That sounds just like the old lady who raised me!" She opened a door at the bottom of the stairs. "Here we are... Sedna? Terrin? Will you two just stop arguing? We have someone in dire need of new clothes, and I'd hate to see her walk around in those loose spare clothes we keep around for some reason."

Terrin looked over to the Weyrwoman, about to argue about Sedna and her lack of decent clothes, but changed what she was about to say. "You put someone in those lousy clothes again? Weyrwoman, what am I going to do with you? You also forgot to get your dress finished, and now it's past the Hatching! Do you know how hard it can be to track you down?"

"Seeing as I'm doing everything..." ~Wiketh and his rider are back with the Masterharper.~ "I have something else to do, the Masterharper just arrived..."

Mellony gasped as Wiketh plummeted. "Could you tell him to slow down a bit? The ground coming up so fast is making me a bit dizzy," she said. Beauty popped out of between a moment later, diving to try and keep up with the big brown.

You heard the lady. ease up a bit!

Snorting, Wiketh stretched his wings and began to glide quickly towards the center of the weyr. Right but I expect to pick the biggest heardbeasts for the next month

Right Right. Whatever. He shook his head as Wiketh settled onto the sand lightly, wings kicking up some of the grains. Sliding down the dragons big shoulders he reached out an arm to Menolly. "Madam Harper, I welcome you to Southern!" He said cermonially.

"Well.. I didn't want to put my other clothes on after the bath, so theses were what i got." Feng looked at Sedna, "Hi." She turns her attention back to Terrin, "So... you can make me new ones right?"

Sedna glanced at the two and for a moment appeared almost grateful. Quickly she slunk behind sheryn muttering to herself “Gladly…” To stopping arguing. She was glad to have a way to hide from the woman, never really understanding why she was so damn insistent. It was just clothing why did it matter so much if she wore the same clothing longer then most.

“I’ll go help welcome the Masterharper.” She mumbled, giving a soft bow to all before flipping up her hood and staying just behind Sheryn. She fully intended to follow on her heals…after she managed her escape out the door anyway and waited for Sheryn to catch up. Of course before exiting she waved to feng and managing half a smile returned her ‘Hi’…

"Sheryn, don't you dare!"

Sheryn bolted up the stairs. "Sorry, Feng, I didn't know the Masterharper was on her way," she said quickly, catching up to Sedna. "Why won't you let her make one set of clothing?"

Terrin sighed. "Those two... well, dear, what kind of clothing would you like? Hold your arms out in a 'T' shape," she said, grabbing her measuring tape and a pad.

Menolly let J'lor help her down. "Warm air. Did you by any chance let the Weyrwoman know you were bringing me?"

He winced, "I thought I would be bringing you in for the hatching. I kind of missed it." He pulled off his riding gloves and helmet and panted in the hides. "I figured you would be here by now anyway."

You would have known already Wiketh grumbled.
Well. I've been busy!

Sedna glanced to Sheryn, slowing to her usual more casual walking pace. She shrugged at the question, glancing down at her feet so her bangs half obscured her face. “I do not like people’s hands that close to my body…It makes me feel panicky…” She answered honestly, though as to why it made her feel panicky she said nothing. Instead she simply looked over at Sheryn and asked her own question, “I have not met the Masterharper before, what is she like?” More to change the subject then anything.

Feng does as she is told and asks, "Do you have paper on which i can draw them? It's a little easier to do that than it is to explain what i want."

"Do I? Girl, that's what I do a lot of the time, besides chasing down that woman to make her try on the clothes I make for her," she measured her arm span and shoulder to waist, jotting down notes. "Just let me take your measurements, then I'll get them for you." She darted around Feng, pausing to take notes every once in a while.

"Masterharper Mellony is, well, you'll just have to meet her," Sheryn said, stretching her arms up over her head. "She's nice, though. And her fire-lizards are some of the oldest still alive." She turned a corner to see Wiketh and the two.

Beauty landed lightly on Mellony's shoulder, chittering angrily at Wiketh. "I don't thik she likes you for that," she said, smiling. "Well, I can only assume that I would have stayed here, and therefore you wouldn't have come to get me. Someone else would have. Ah, well, here she comes now."

That is impressive…” Sedna replied, the tension relaxing from her shoulders instantly as the subject was changed. She glanced forward now, seeing Mellony and J’lor. She walked to them and gave Mellony a simple bow of greeting before stepping back slightly to allow her room. She gave one of her tiny, ghosts of a smile to each in turn, her eyes brightening a little bit and loosing the stormy cloud that had been in them earlier.

"well He's used to being berated by little queens!" Grinning he watched as Rile glided down to his shoulder and smiled as she chittered angrily at Beauty. "Rile, thats enough."

Weyrlady is coming.

"Right, here comes your procession, Madam Harper!"
