Avatar The Last Airbender (open and accepting!)
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i.../backround.jpg It's been centuries since Avatar Aang defeated the fire nation and stopped the invasion. Aang and Katara got married and had children. most of which were air benders creating another kingdom of air benders. Sokka became leader of the southern water tribe. Toph went home and rulled her country as she was born to do. Zuko took over the fire nation and rulled it to be peaceful. Now Azula's great (whatever) grandchild has decided that the Fire Nation should rule all countries and has brought war to the world again. And only the fire nation knows it (so far). It's been 2 years since the first attacks and only the small tribes around the fire nation capitol were hit. Word has not yet gotten out to the other nations. Hello, I am :: Shinzo I'm :: 19 Seriously? you can't tell that i'm a :: male What's my story? Well :: I am the great grandson of the infamous toph and heir to the earth kingdom thrown. Although I don’t seem to act like it from time to time. You see, since I was a boy, my parents loved me too much. They made sure that I never left the castle walls in fear that I’d become “imperfect”. Ever since I’ve become a teenager, I’ve been sneaking out of the castle to “live” like everyone else. I'm :: 18 Seriously? you can't tell that i'm a :: girl What's my story? Well :: Coming from the Northern Water Tribe, I was born with the fabled midnight eyes. At a very young age, I was doing things that people practicing years couldn't master. I was sent to Water Sifu Katara to learn from her. Now I have been sent on a mission. There has been disturbance around the fire nation. I intend to quell it. Don't be fooled by my cuteness. I am ruthless. Musa stood out in a town square, dancing. A small bag down at her feet. As she danced and twirled the fire on her fans spun around her. It wasn't fire bending by any leap of the imagination, but a few people gave her odd looks as they passed. At least until two small orbs of water rose out from a bucket behind her and drifted lazily through the trails of fire. Together the fire and water moved reaching the climax where she breathed fire, using the fans as a base and then used the water to extinguish it all. A few people clapped, but most walked on by. She took a small bow and sighed before going to count the coins. Not much, she'd have to do better to keep herself fed.

Mizu walked out of his home saying his last goodbyes to his parents. He was on his way to becoming the avatar and the thought of adventure excited him. The streets were full as usual with people walking by and street preformers trying their best to get what little money they could. One particular preformer caught his eyes. A girl using fire and water in her act. He stood and watched for a bit before moving on. He had money and would love to help her out, but if he did, he'd be in her shoes soon enough.
|
She spotted a young man, one who looked like he may be new to traveling and quickly swooped in. They tended to be more, pliable and less jaded. She twirled in front of him back turned to him and a little bit of water swirling around her, she then bent backwards so her face, upside was turned to him. Fans waving before her face, back and forth coquettishly, she smiled.
"You sire look like a good spirit. One who would help out a poor, traveling performer with a simple coin? You wouldn't want to see my kind fade away in the winds of time now would you?" |
Mizu stopped in his tracks as the preformer haulted him from going forward. "Um... actually I don't have a whole lot. not even for myself," he stated, his voice quiet and a little feminem sounding. He tried to walk around the girl. She was beautiful but the slight blush that tinted his cheeks was well hidden.
|
"But I'm sure a strong young man such as yourself would have no problem, reacquiring money. There is always an eldery couple, looking for a strong back and a generous heart. If there is another type of performance you might like, I'd be more than willing to oblige you." She grinned before sinking down to the ground completely and popping back up to speak the final words behind him and into his ear, playfully.
|
"You speak traitor!" her father shouted as he threw a vase at her. "It is our duty to serve the Fire Lord and therefore the Fire Nation! And yet, you...who come from a long line of prestigious Fire Benders....you dare to slander our name and our nation!?" Her mother was sitting silently in a corner, too angry to even voice what she thought. She hadn't spoken a word since that morning, when her daughter had been found participating in a protest by her husband. "You should be thankful we grabbed you when we did!" Meliara's father continued. "You would have been thrown into prison! And yet you still speak harshly to me? I may as well hand you over to the Fire Lord herself!"
"Maybe you should!" she shouted back. She had no intention, however, of being handed over as a prisoner by her own parents. Instead, she grabbed whatever she could from her room and made her escape through the window. She didn't look back. Meliara sat up, eyes wide and her heart pumping faster than usual. It had been two years, and she still had to relive that day even in her dreams. She wasn't even sure if her life here was worth it. Sure, she was living peacefully...but she was still pretty much a prisoner. The people here knew she was a Fire Bender, and they kept their distance. But they were also always watching...waiting for her to mess up and hurt someone. Rooms grew quiet when she walked in, for fear that she might be a spy. Guess it's just another day of life... she thought as she threw aside the covers and got ready for the day. It was a bright morning, and the streets were busy. Few paid much attention to each other as they went about their daily errands. Mel made a mental list of things she needed: bread, fruit, maybe some fish if they had any..and started looking for the stands. A few of the Earth citizens gave her a distrustful glance, but most paid her no mind. |
The avatar's cheeks turned a light rouge colour when the girl whispered into his ear. A shudder ran down his back and he shrugged it off. Mizu took a step forward. "Sorry, but i'm not leaving home to find work."
---------- ((I do apologize but i must point this out, Starr. in your character profile, you said Mel was in the earth kingdom. Both Musa and Mizu are in a Water Town at the moment. ^^;; If you want, I can switch your profile for you.)) |
"No but have you not learned your stories. That of young men, going off on a mission of one kind or another. Either for love, power or money. There is always at some point a time when the great hero is given the choice to help an Elder in need. If the hero helps, he is greatly rewarded. If he scoffs and moves on, then he shall be cursed until he learns the error of his way." As she speaks the water seems to act out various scenes, her fingers moving intricately to maneuver the water.
"Maybe this is one of those choices. Mayhaps I am just a power witch in the guise of a young woman. What shall your destiny be? One of reward that karma shall bring?" The water shifts into what seems like a pile of money and jewels. "Or one of lessons hard learned due to ignorance?" Her other hand appears and a small ball of flame rests on the palm of her hand. "You never can tell what choices will change the future." |

((lol. it's stated in my first post and in Musa's profile. but it's ok. thank you!! ^^ ))
Mizu looked at the flames in the girl's hand and thought it odd that they were controled so easily by a water bender. "how about you come with me? I'll pay for our food and shelter, and you keep me some company," a few seconds after saying his last line, Mizu realized what it would have sounded like to the girl. "uh... well as a friend i mean...." he looked away feeling a tid bit ambarrassed. |
The water jumped over to extinguish the flames and she gave him a quick look over.
"I think you may need to learn a bit more on how to pick up a woman. However, since you offered, "In what seemed like almost an instant, her bag and things were collected and she stood at his side. "I accept. I'm on the move always anyway, so I might as well travel with you and perform along the way." She grinned widely at him. "So where are we heading to Sir?" |
((I'll make another character to interact with your's Starr. so hold tight! :3 ))
Mizu sighed in relief and started walking again once the girl was ready. "I'm heading towards the Earth Kingdom," He stated. The young man smiled at the girl ((whome i'm assuming is walking side by side with him)). |
"Interesting choice. Any reason why? Or do you just enjoy the sculptures there?" Musa skipped along neside him, a grin on her face. " I was there a few times. I like their street food. Less spicy than the fire nation's street food."
|
((sorry everyone. my computer froze up on me.))
Shinzo Stood at a jewlery stand not to far from Mel. He seemed to be entrigued by the fake gold made to be worn by citizens. "I'm actually going to learn earth bending," Mizu answered Musa. his foot steps were quiet, almost as if he were glidding. |
"Mm...bread...." Mel said, smiling delightfully as she approached the bread stand. It was all fresh from the bakery not too far. Morning market always got the first batch. The man across smiled back. He stayed fairly friendly with everyone, and seemed to understand Mel better than a lot of the citizens.
"Fresh bread for ya, Mel? This batch just finished 10 minutes ago," the baker said, gesturing toward one of the baskets. "Crunchy and soft, right?" Mel nodded and reached for her money. "They smell delicious. Can't wait to take some home and try it. I'll take two loaves today, please," she handed out the appropriate change. She received a basket with both loaves in it. "Feelin' hungry, eh? Make sure you let me know how they are!" he shouted after her as she went on to find the rest of her groceries. Walking by, she couldn't help but to notice a jewelry stand. Shiny... she thought, walking over for a closer look. |
Shinzo looked up at the girl and smiled. "they're gorgious, aren't they?" he asked her and he picked one up. He tilted it in the light so that the sun reflected off of it, making it glimmer.
|
She looked over at the boy standing next to her as he picked up one of the pieces and held it up so that it glimmered in the sunlight. Beautiful... she thought quietly to herself, watching the sunlight dance across the gold. She could never even imagine herself wearing anything like it, but still loved looking at all the jewelry. She turned back and started examining the others, giving the boy a quick smile, unsure what she should say to that. Everyone here knew she was a fire bender, straight from the Fire Nation. She hadn't seen him around before, sure, but because of that it was hard to figure out whether he cared, or if he even knew.
She let the thoughts go, though. She didn't often stop to look at the jewelry and other trade stands. She didn't make enough money to go spending it on things she didn't need. So, she sat there, examining the pieces. Some were simple strands, while others were more elaborate with stones casted in them. She didn't care if she didn't need them, or even that she didn't intend on buying them. They were great just to look at. |
"So which one do you like?" he asked her, putting the one he was holding down. he was watching her eyes trying to see what exactly she was looking at.
|
"Hmm..." She examined them closely, thinking about how to answer. They were all truly lovely, but which one did she like the most? Well...she certainly had to admire all the intricacies of the elaborate necklaces and even some of the headpieces. It was clear a lot of time had gone into those, yet...they didn't really suit her taste much. She scanned over the table, and a red glimmer caught her eye.
The chain was thin and plain, but what hung off of it was certainly a treasure. She recognized the shape as a Fire Lily, the flower the Fire Nation's festival was named after. It shouldn't surprise her that there would be obvious signs of Fire Nation work, considering their technological advancements. But...it was still a slight shock to see in the Earth Kingdom. The shape was sculpted in gold, and embedded with perfectly carved rubies. She smiled, and reached out to point to the one she liked. "I think that one...I like.." she said, still half in her thoughts. Before the Fire Nation had started another war, she had gotten along great with her parents. They had gone every year to the Festival to see the blooms, and everyone was so much happier. She really didn't know why her parents hearts had grown so cold with the onset of the war. |
"Ah, that is a beauty. The Fire Lily. Never seen the flower in person but, I hope to see it one day," the young man stated. he pulled out his money and payed for the necklace. turning to the girl, he held it out, the clip unattached as if to put the gem on her himself. "There you are," he said with a smile.
|
"Wait...what?" she looked at him with wide eyes. He didn't even know her, and he was giving her a necklace? "U-umm..thank you..." she said, really unsure yet completely grateful. Nobody here did nice things for her. Well, the baker occasionally left her some sweets on holidays, but she wasn't even sure that wasn't at least partially out of sympathy. "That's very kind." She smiled and accepted the necklace. "Um...might I ask who you are, though? I don't recall seeing you around here..."
|
"Why? Are you an Earth Bender? Cause honestly you didn't really strike me as one. But Earth resonates with those it wishes I suppose. The spirit of bending is mysterious in it's ways. Both parents may be very powerful benders, yet the child may have either no ability or only a weak affinity" She walked beside him, dancing as they went along. Her kimono would occasionally billow out as she spun.
"It's more than possible though that an Earth bender would be born to water benders. It's the beginning of a great story to be told! A young man, traveling out from his beloved family for the first time to learn the path of Earth. Supported by parents that can not fully understand. Tears from their heart fall as they know their child can not walk their winding path of Water, but proud all the same for his abilities." Water forms up into a heart that seems to weep as she talks, but it grows more solid and larger despite the tears. "Hmmm, it may need some work, but I think it will be a good one. Through in a few bandits, a tragic twist, a romance and presto! You have a crowd pleaser. Do you mind if I embellish a bit? I mean no offense, but right now it's a bit dull. Things can change though, the journey has just begun." |
The prince smiled at the girl. "My name is Shinzo... not many people know me. My parents thought i'd become plueged with impurities if i ever left home. So," he started to talk only loud enough so that she could hear, "I sneak out from time to time." he winked at her and then smiled. "What's your name? and why does a beautiful girl like you walk alone?"
Mizu chuckled at the girl's ideas. "I don't care if you want to turn that into a story.... but just so you know, i'm not just an earth bender," he stated with a smile. He bended the water heart into a bird and made it "fly" into the small stream that they walked next to. "What's your name by the way? i don't believe we've introduced ourselves." |
