Founded after World War II, Wammy's House began as a training facility for children with exceptional intelligence and skills. After the success of the detective L, the motive of the school was to raise children to be the successor to the original L. None of the children refer to (or know) each other by their real names, instead using aliases. In addition to these protective aliases notable individuals who graduate from Wammy's House may be assigned a 'letter' by Watari, now by his successor, Roger Ruvie. Until the holder of that letter dies, they are understood to be recognized by the current L and as all that have connections to Wammy's House as having significant potential to positively affect the world, and work for its change. The letters closest to L - K, M and N - are often direct candidates for L's succession. I l I l I l I l I l I Welcome, I am Quillish Wammy, the founder of Wammy's House. It's an orphanage where orphans with exceptional skills come together to learn. You will be ranked based on your intellectual skills and given an alias to protect yourself. When you graduate, you will be given a letter. Please do not worry, we will not hurt or harm you in any way. But do not, I repeat, do not steal from Mello's chocolate hoard if you want to live. (Alright, let's start!)
KayKay absentmindedly walked down the long corridor of Wammy's House, looking out the window. It was a rare sunny day, and there were new orphans coming to Wammy's. "Hmmm~~" She wondered what the others were doing... |
Lightning Arose from her bed and walked to her window. She opened her curtain to see what the noise was about. When she pulled the curtain back the sun shone bright in her eyes. She looked down to see some new orphans entering the building. Lighting always hated to see more kids having to come live in a orphanage. She believed that every kid should have a decent home. She took a big sigh and put a smile on her face. She then exited her room and made her way down the corridor. She wanted to greet the new comers.
|
Kari sighed as she heard the approaching new members of Wammy's house. She put down the book she was currently reading How to spot deceit by Jason Gideon, and stood from the chair in her room. She stared around the room for a moment before snatching one of her favourite manga from a chelf. She may be Scottish but ever since she came to Wammy's she developed a slight obsession with Japanese culture and, what was REALLY an obsession, with shounen-ai manga. She loved it and if ANYONE tried to take one of her manga away from her...let's just say that she kept a few hidden accessories under her knee length purple skirt.
They'd be expecting everyone to turn up for the new comers so she walked to the door, pulled it upen and walked out. She carefully shut the door behind her and locked it, tucking the key into a hidden pocked on the inside of her skirt and making sure that the small piece of paper was jammed in the door before heading downstairs. |
Envy walked along the sidewalk slowly, taking his sweet time outside to enjoy the rarity of sunlight. He had just returned from the shooting range, and wasn't all too surprised to see a little bit of hustle and bustle around the orphanage when he finally arrived in front of the building, having heard earlier that morning of some newcomers. Slipping in through the building's front entrance, his eyes scanned the room, intending to see just who these newcomers were.
|
It didn't take Kari very long to reach the ground floor of Wammy's house. Once you knew your way around the place it wasn't too hard to navigate the shortest routes to wherever you wanted to be. Usually for things like this Kiara would take the absolute longest route to get there but she just couldn't be bothered to make the effort today. She clutched her manga closely to her chest protectively. It was one of her favourites.
She wondered who else she'd see when she got downstairs. Everyone here was naturally very curious so she wouldn't be surprised if everyone turned up. |
Speed kicked the soccer ball into the goal, practicing his shots. It was sunny outside, so he'd taken advantage of it. He'd heard that there were new people arriving soon...a girl and a boy? Or was it just a girl? "Eh. I'm thinking too much again." He muttered to himself before returning to practice.
|
The doors of a tattered old car rattled as it made it's way down the rustic road. In this part of the country, road matinence wasn't a very big deal. Usually no one really cane out this way and if you planed to you'd need to know your way around. Sitting in the back seat of the junker, a dark haired boy sat and flicked the flint of a black nic lighter. Looking out the window Garrie notice that he'd stopped seeing so many building and home and was starting to see much more trees. He knew what this meant, where ever he was going, it was in the middle of nowhere.
The ninteen-seventies Volkswagon putted and sputtered down the road for what felt like a thousand miles before pulling into the front yard of Wammy House. This was it, the unknown destination had become known. "What a dump" Garrie muttered to himself. He picked up a black backpack from the floor of the car and got out. He had to slam it to get it to shut but he wasn't very thrilled to be here so it helped his anger a bit. He Lookd around the area with his frozen face and cold golden eyes as the car drove back in the direction it'd come from. Clearly this was no place for visitors. |
Lightning stopped dead in her tracks. She looked out the window and there he was. The only guy she has ever crushed on. It was her first crush. She stood there watching Envy walking down the side walk. She quickly blushed and continued down the corridor. She finally reached the door and she took a step outside to greet the newcomers.
|
As Kari entered the front entrance hall fo Wammy's she noticed another girl, Lightning if she remembered right, just going out the front door. She sighed before taking a deep breath and stepping out herself.
She scanned the area around her, taking in the people gathered with growing dread. She hated crowds. |
KayKay saw the newcomers, and rushed towards Mello, Matt, and Near, who were currently fighting over who was the best. Near was playing with toys on the ground...and Mello was spitting chocolate into his face. KayKay slapped her face dramatically and sighed. "Come oonn guys, the newcomers are here!" She grabbed Matt and started running, the gamer boy getting dragged along the floor.
"Hey! KayKay! Matt! WAIT! YOU GUYS!!!" Mello started chasing after them, chocolate bar in his hand. Near looked up, shrugged, and continued playing with Optimus Prime. |
Envy, after slipping in through the entrance, spotted several familiar faces. Lightning, for one, and Kari, followed by Mello, Matt, Near and Kaykay. He wasn't fond of crowds, but he supposed that today it was understandable as he turned to peer out the window which gave a limited view of the front. He looked over the car, an old ninteen-seventies Volkswagon from the looks of it, then at the person who stepped out. So, it was another guy. Envy stood there at the window for a while, studying the new orphan, before stepping away. His first thoughts? The guy outside seemed to have a cold gleam in his eyes, and didn't seem all too happy. Not the best first impression, but he'd stick around to say 'hi' anyways. He realized that he had just come in from being from outside, but Envy turned right back around and exited through the door after Lightning nevertheless.
|
A new commer at Wammy house? This was new information but then again poor Edward was never told much about what was happening in the house. Edd wriggled out from a hiding spot in the room the three boys had been occupying. Spying again, as usual, she'd actually gotten stuck there. The room was empty when Edd entered it, her objective was to learn more about the seemingly favored boys.
"Edward wants to see the new person too!" She said toherself as she made her way down the manor, skipping threw the halls. Outside the mannor the children had begun to emerge to try to be the first to see the new guy. It was quite the sight and for Garrie it was rather unsettling. Is this an omen? This place is so boring that the second someone new hits the scene it's a gather and great? This had better not be a hugging place! He wasn't told much about this place, only that it was a place for acceptionally smart people. Walking towards the stairs to enter the building with his bag over only one shoulder, Garrie sighed and waited for someone to say something to brake the uncomfortable moment. |
Lighting looked to see who the new person was. It was another guy. Lightning didn't know what to think or say. She looked over her shoulder and saw Envy. She just smiled and waved to him. She was always too shy to actually talk to him. She then saw Kari and went up to her and said, "looks like we are getting a new guy, huh?" She really didn't know what else to say. Her mind was wondering from place to place a lot. She just wanted to spend the day out in the garden.
|
Envy was aware of Lightning's presence, but he really didn't have anything to say to her. He hardly knew her, after all. When she waved at him, he just grinned, and said "Good morning" as opposed to waving. His eyes then went over to the newcomer. Envy stayed quiet for a moment, half expecting the guy to introduce himself, half expecting someone else to break the awkward silence. He wasn't fond of awkwardnes. He wasn't much of a talker, but clearing his throat, he decided to break the silence and be polite anyways. "Hello. The name's Envy. Nice to meet you," he extended a hand for the newcomer to shake in a polite gesture.
|
A hand suddenly appeared I front of Garrie, it was a males. His knuckles were still thin with adolescence but the suggested he'd been in a fight a time or two. The guys accent was French, he knew a little but thought it'd be rude to the others to use a language that perhaps not everyone knew. Garrie lifted his golden eyes to meet Envy's, the moment was paused with a hand lingering in the air.
"Thoma..." He took Envy's hand and shook it sternly, the way a serious business man would shake. Inside his mind he broke down, screaming at himself for so quickly giving up his birth name. Thoma, that's what the paper inside the envelope said. If I was going to be accepted into this home, I'd have to fallow everyone of their rules; even the foolish name rule. I don't know maybe I just don't get it. When mom told me she'd had it, I just never really thought she was serious. That stupid envelope! They've stripped me of my name, burnt my identity outside of this place... Destroyed it all... There is no going back. In Any matter, it looks like a pretty big place. I'm sure I'll find a place do experiment somewhere.... Edd came to the door as Thoma approached it. A chill ran up her spine at the sight of him and she jumped behind Kaykay, grabbing the fabric of her shirt. She looked up to Kaykay as an older sister and offer times found herself wishing she was. "Onee-chan, is he gonna live here now?" Edward asked as she peaked around Kaykay's left hip. (Inner dialogue^^^) |
"Seems like it," Kari replied as Lightning talked to her. She didn't know the other very well, she didn't know anyone here very well and she planned to keep it that way. Getting attached to people only led to trouble after all but occasionally talking with someone was important too. Human beings were social creatures after all and spending all one's time alone was never a good thing, especially for a healthy brain development and she planned to keep her mind as active as it could be.
"You gunna go say 'hi' to him?" she asked, slightly curious but not caring one way or the other about the answer. She studied the newcomer's face intensely and noticed the glint in the eyes. She repressed a shudder at the cold, almost calculating look in those eyes. It was slightly unnerving but then again this was Wammy's and no one here was exactly normal anyway she she ignored it for the most part. |
Lightning was relieved to hear to Kari respond. She knew Kari didn't like to talk to others much but lightning hated to see people alone. "Yes i think i will go talk to him" she responded. She gave Kari a quick nod and walked over to the newcomer. She waited for Envy to introduce him self and then she stepped up. "Hello. My name is lightning. It is a pleasure to meet you. And on behalf of the others here welcome to Wammy's." She said with a warm smile. She held her hand out much like Envy did and hoped the newcomer would shake her hand and become friends. Lightning didn't have any friends here. She got along with everyone but noone ever wanted friendships and Lightning had to learn to accept that, but she never stopped trying.
|
Releasing Envy's hand, Thoma then took Lightning's finge tips like prince wooing a damsel and gently shook her hand. Thoma held a strong respect for women, and always treated the as if he'd been raised in the middle ages. They were god-like to him. Delicate creatures who should be pampered at every chance.
"Yea, sure. Thanks." He kept his responses short. If he came across as too nice, these people wouldn't ever respect his space. This was introductions, the first impressions. In his head, Thoma had scripted this moment put in almost a hundred different ways, each with a different outcome from any before or after it. This was going to be a tricky game, but like it or not he was here to play; and live inside the insanity and chaos that is Wammy House. |
Kari sensed something as the new guy, Thoma, shook Lightning's hand. She was good at reading people's body language and moods, their expressions and emotio0ns were like an open book to her a lot of the time. It was one of the reasons she'd been recruited to Wammy's in the first place, not surprising as she read so many books on psychology, forensic psychology, criminology and other books related to that subject. Anyway, she was good at profiling and, even though she usually tried to avoid profiling her fellow students at Wammy's it was impossible for her mind not to automatically begin the profile.
She saw that he wasn't too keen to open up to so many people, understandale of course. She felt the same way a lot of the time. She could also tell that there was something burried there, something hidden. That was nothing knew though, a lot of people at Wammy's had secrets, herself included, so she wouldn't pry...for now anyway. She couldn't help it if she was curious by nature. Seeing taht Lightning was done introducing herself she stepped forward. "Kari," she introduced, keeping it simple and to the point. There was no need to draw things out longer than necessary. |
A girl stood behind Lightning, who introduced herself as 'Kari'. She was cute, but Thoma could tell what she was doing. After years of being to countless psychologist and therapists, he knew the small glitter that people get in their eyes when their making an analasys. He would of said something if it wasn't the first few minutes on the grounds, but now would not be a good time for hostilities or destruction of relationships that hadn't even been built yet. This was going to be a fun, aggravating, tough game to get used to, but Thoma was eager to learn just where all this was heading. He nodded to Kari as to say 'noted' but had no desire to speak the name he'd been given ever again. Or atleast, not so soon.
|
Lightning was pleased with the newcomer. When Kari stepped to introduce herself Lightning nodded to the newcomer and quietly backed out. She went out the back and took the hidden path that lead to her favorite garden. This was Lightning's favorite place to go. No one else seemed to know about it.
|
Kari noted the fact that he didn't say his name again but didn't comment. It was his choice and she could tell before that he wasn't happy with the name he now had. She could understand that, having who you were taken away from you like that. It was hard on all of them and, when she was alone, she didn't think of herself as Kari, she thought of herself before then when she still had her own name.
She withdrew her right hand, her left still clutching the manga tightly. "I have some work to do," she told the group at large. "So I'll leave you all alone." She was looking forward to getting back to her own room. She still had to write that reply letter to her penfriend in America. He didn't know where she was of course, she wasn't about to tell him that, but he was insanely smart and if he'd been an orphan she was sure that he would have ended up here with her. He was older than her of course and he'd gotten a job as a profiler and she couldn't be happier for him. She was looking forward to telling him that in her letter as soon as she got upstairs. She made her way away from the group and soon entered the house. "Just don't forget that it's not long until dinner," she called over her shoulder as an afterthought before dissappearing from their sight. |
