Jack followed the two, hearing them move through the bushes. He could hear The Doctor talking to the girl but he didn't hear a response yet. He gradually got closer and closer, keeping just out of sight of the pair. He was sure that by now The Doctor would be able to tell that he was there though.

When they were at the end of time The Doctor had told him that his presense hurt him. Well, not exactly hurt but because of his wrongness and fixed-point-in-time-ness (that wasn't even a word!) he could feel Jack through space. He was stationary whereas everything else in the universe was constantly moving. According to him it had made him want to run away, to get away from the feeling or destroy it. That was probably why The Master had taken such perverted pleasure in killing him over and over again. That psychopath had been a time-lord too and he would have been able to sense the strangeness around him too. That was why he'd earned the nickname 'freak' from the egotistical time lord.

"That was you? The first time must been the other man. An explanaiton would be nice thank you.I'll wait to tell you about him when we get there and make you some tea. " She wondered what that odd feeling she got from him was. he seemed human but then again he didn't. They kept slowly walking toward the road. Brigid kept thinking there was someone else near by. She stopped and listend to figure out if they were being followed. She heard the footsteps continue thougth the bushes. She looked around wondering if her mind was playing tricks on her. " Sorry I stopped . I thought I heard someone following us." She apologized and smiled . " What's going on here? I should have stayed home. I have a bad feeling about this for some reason."

The master smiled at the girl as she mentioned hearing someone follow them. He could feel the presence of someone familiar some he had enjoyed attempting to kill many times.

"Well it seems an Old friend of mine is here as well. You can come on out Jack. I am sure we have much to catch up on."

He stood there waiting for Jack's response looking down at the girl.

"Well at least he is the only one I have met that feels this way so I am pretty sure it is him."

Jack allowed a smile to pull at the corners of his lips as he was caught out. He figured it'd happen sooner or later. There was no way he could hide his presense from a time lord even if he had wanted to. He stepped forward, not being as careful about where he placed his feet now that he'd been caught. There was no reason to be quite as stealthy if you weren't trying to avoid being caught out after all.

"Sensed me did you?" he asked, grinning slightly as he finally stepped out beside The Doctor and the girl. "Been a while since I last seen you, and apparently longer for you if the new face is anything to go by. How've you been?"

He was determined to keep the talk light for the moment, wanting to avoid the subject of why he was here and not with his team in Cardiff. That was not going to be a pleasant conversation, that was for sure. Unfortunately he knew that dealing with it would probably cause a lot of emotions to bubble to the surface for him and he'd rather avoid that as much as possible for as long as possible.

Brigid saw a man in a long blue coat appear in front of her and The Doctor." They must know each other. '' She noticed how he was dressed. It was different than she was use to seeing but she liked his coat. It reminded her of the one in her parent's attic."I like your jacket." She said smiling. It was the truth she did like it. She didn't want to be rude to a friend of the man she had just met. Maybe they could explain the happenings of the last few days to her.

((skipping to when they are already in Brigid's apartment))

The Doctor made his way around a few blocks and decided that he should go back to his TARDIS. He headed in the direction in which he had left it and the closer he got, a strong and evil presence lurked. His teeth clenched as the uneasy feeling floated about him. The closer the Time Lord got, the more recognizable the presence was and he almost didn't want to believe it. The Doctor also knew that something similar had happened before and knew that he shouldn't think it imposable. He made his way to the apartments that stood in front of the woods that held his TARDIS. That's when the other presence "hit" him. Jack's here... he thought to himself as he looked towards the apartments. Unsure of what to do, the man stood there for a few minutes.

Brigid had told the two men about the noise she had heard today. And about the odd things that had been happening around campus. She was in the kitchen making tea and getting the cups out. She looked at the window an saw the first man she had seen standing near the apartments. She wondered who he was and why he was there.

Jack was in the female's sitting room, Brigid if he remembered right, when he felt something near by. It was strange, very strange. He was sure that the presense was familiar and yet not familiar...something that he was only used to feeling when it came to The Doctor. But what to do? Should he mention it to the time lord? He glanced out the window but from this angle he couldn't see who it was and if he moved he'd be visible and even though he didn't have anything to really fear from being killed he'd rather not, not in a stranger's house after all. He'd only just met the female and he'd rather her not find out about his immortality, especially this quickly. It had taken him ages to tell his team about what had happened to him and the only reason he'd told Gwen was because she'd seen it happen.

Still...the presense didn't seem menacing in any way and that was a good thing but looks could be deceiving, just look at the fairies taht he'd had to deal with in Torchwood? Both the first and second time. He'd never be able to deal with that. It still ate at him all these years later and he knew that the most recent loss, that of Estelle, would haunt him for almost as long as Ianto, if not for the same amount of time. And since he wasn't ever likely to get over the loss of Ianto that was saying something.

The master smiled as he listened to the girl's story about the strange sounds and things that were happening at her campus. "Well the strange sounds are created from my TARDIS. That is Time and Relative Dimensions in Space.. It is a machine which can travel Space and time. Jack here can tell you all about it"

He moved behind the girl and looked out the window "What is it you are looking at?"

He noted the man at the bottom of the apartments and knew this was the presence he felt. Greetings Doctor! He thought to himself as his smile widened.

" That man down there is the man I saw earlier. Who is he? Tea is about ready by the way. " She was wondering now if going to the woods had been a good idea. If she hadn't she would have been getting groceries and then to bed. Brigid had the feeling that she was getting pulled into something dangerous. She was scared of The Doctor, not knowing who he really was of course. Jack seemed nice though. Something wasn't right . Brigid stood at the window till the kettle whistled.

As the kettle whistled and everyone, like most people, turned to look to see what the noise was, the Doctor seemed to disappear out of site. He was making his way into the apartment complex and up the stairs to the proper floor. he would have taken the elevator if he had know exactly which floor to stop at.
He made his way over to the door of Brigid's apartment and knocked. waiting for an answer, he put his hands in his pockets and looked around the place.

Brigid put the tea in to seep a little. After a little bit, she poured it in the china cups her grandma left her. She had a slice of toast each for the three of them. As she was putting the tray down , there was a knock on the door. " I'll go see who it is . It might be my friend Lizzie. She was going to stop over tonight." Brigid looked in the peephole and saw the man from earlier standing there. She had a panicked look on her face . "It's the man I mentioned that I saw before. Should I let him in?" She had a feeling things were going to get interesting tonight.

Jack turned his attention from the window where he'd lost sight of the man from earlier to the door when he heard the girl, Brigid, say that it wasw the one he'd been keeping an eye on. He walked forward, more like sauntered, and glanced at her and then at The Doctor. He wondered what to do. He could...sense...something coming off of both of them, something entirely alien. But that would mean...

Oh no, he was dead. He'd been shot and hadn't regenerated, or at least that's what he'd thought. But there was no way...this wans't good. But why would he just walk up to the appartment building? This wasn't making any sense so, for once, he decided to keep quiet and watch, see how things played out before he acted. He inwardly smirked to himself. Owen, Tosh and Ianto would be so proud to hear that.

Brigid looked in the peep hole again. He was still there . It would be rude to leave him standing there. She unlatched the door and opened it." Hello again. Is there any thing I can help you with? Would you like to come in for some tea? I have guests but as the saying goes the more the merrier." She smiled. She felt the tension level rise dramatically. Who was he?

"Ah yes. Hello again to you too," he smiled. He listened to everything else she had to say and glanced inside. "Tea would be lovely, BUT I'm looking for a friend. he's a good friend, I'd rather have him by my side then against me. I'm also looking for an intruder," the Doctor's eyes looked back into Brigid's and his gaze was almost like he was trying to read her thoughts. then he abruptly turned them away and back to the hallway ceiling. A questioning look came to his face for a brief moment and then he turned back to the girl with a smile.

" Intruder?" Brigid tried to hide a scared look. She smiled and said," I'll help you look for your friend. What is his name? Please come in and sit down .My name is Brigid Harper by the way." She said extending her hand in greeting. She didn't get a bad feeling from this man like she did the The Doctor. She moved out of the way of the door inviting him to sit down.

"Intruder? Why my past incarnation I would have hoped you would know the difference between yourself and another by now. If you don't believe how about a demonstration?"

The master was pleased and upset at this turn of events here he could really toy with The Doctor but at the same time all of his plans are close to crumbling apart. He pulled out his laser sonic screwdriver and held it out so the doctor could have a good look at it.

"Mind if I use my well technically our Sonic Screwdriver for a simple demonstration?"

Jack looked between the new person and The Doctor. His eyes flicked between the two and his head swam slightly. Past incarnation? He couldn't be serious. Ther ewas no way this could be happening. If there were two Doctors in the same room, even if they were to different incarnations, then shouldn't that create a time paradox? He inwardly shuddered at the thought of the last paradox involving those mechanical monsters that had once been human which The Master had brought back from the edge of the universe.

He was getting slightly different signals from each of them but now, thanks to this turn of events, he wasn't sure whether it was because of the different incarnations of The Doctor. Could that be making them appear different and yet the same to his senses? He didn't know and it was giving him a headache.

"Prove that you're the Doctor," he said, looking at the newcomer. He'd stepped from the sitting room into the hallway so that the other could see him. He was also paying close attention to The Doctor's face and body language. He knew his friend well enough to know how he'd react to his presence no matter what form he was in.

Brigid was confused. Two Doctors? How could this be? " How is this possible?"She said out loud. She felt a headache coming on. Who was this guy really?

The Doctor stepped inside and did a glance over of the place. When his eyes got to the Master a glare came about his face and then he looked over to Jack and smiled. Before being able to great his old friend, the Master had pulled out his makeshift screw driver and held it out and asked a question.
"What do you plan on doing?" he asked, looking at the other Time Lord. His right hand, still in his pocket, had wrapped around his own screw driver ready to defend. He would respond to Jack but currently the situation recalled being serious.

"Well I plan to see if i can determine information on this girl's fish." He then pointed his screwdriver towards the girls fish bowel and pressed a button causing the screwdriver to make the standard high pitched noise of the Doctor's. After a few moments he pulls his screwdriver back smiling. "This is a male Beta fish of about 5 months in age and it seems the girl calls him Alonso. He also evidently really likes the food she is feeding him"

The master then looked at Jack and smiled.

"Dear Jack I can vouch for him fear not. He is Me just an older me.. well younger time travel its confusing. " The master then sighed as he watched the doctor holding his own screwdriver. "Now you know what happens when two sonic screwdrivers of the same frequency are both on. It is really fun but I doubt now is the time or place."

"That's amazing how you can find all that out ." She said. She was impressed and a little creeped out. The tension level was getting overwhelming for her. Something wasn't right here. The other Doctor didn't seem to beilve the man she met in the woods when she was lost. If he wasn't The Doctor, who was he then? Was he really the enemy and the first man she met that day really the one she should side with? She was getting confused on what was happening.

Jack's eyes flicked from one time lord to the other, his mind trying to process what was going on and, much to his irritation, not quite managing to do so. Something was off, something was definitely off but he wasn't quite sure what it was. He kept glancing from The Doctor to the other Doctor, wondering whether they were telling the truth. Was one of them lying? If so then which one? And which Doctor was actually The Doctor or were they both The Doctor?

"But won't this create a paradox like before?" Jack asked, his voice clearly skeptical as he recalled the end of the universe. That was not something he'd like to repeat thank you very much.

"Yes Jack, indeed it would. So then, I ask you," he had looked at Jack to answer him and then looked back at the Master, "If i were an older "version" of myself, and knowing that coming back and actually crossing paths with myself creates a paradox that would causing life itself to be non-existent, why would I do such a thing when life is such a great thing to have in the first place?"
The Doctor then turned to Jack and smiled, "You remember Rose Tyler? Such a fantastic girl. She saved your life you know, several times. Of course I was there to help most of the time." The Doctor knew that mentioning something that only he and Jack would know, Jack would immediately know who was real and who was fake.

"Ah but many times have I crossed paths with myself before even to go so far as to work with previous incarnations as it were"

The master only to clearly recalled the time with the first 4 incarnations of the doctor had worked together to keep the vanguard from passing unfair judgement on The Doctor's life thus saving him from the ruling of the council.

"Ah yes Rose such a fantastic girl. She did have quite a bit of spunk to her didn't she?" Oh how the Master loved how his TARDIS had recorded each of the previous looks of the Doctor and tiny bits of information on his companions although not enough to know Rose had saved Jack so that yid bit caught him off guard.


"Oh Jack You do recall Donna Noble yes?" He then looks at the doctor in the Eye "You recall the Biological Meta-crisis we had with her yes?"
