Cal followed her into her apartment and closed the door behind him. Closing and locking the door was habit, ingrained long ago and unlikely to ever fade. Once that was done, he went and caught up to Jeane, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her close.

"I'm glad you didn't run," he said to her.

Jeane smiled. "I'm not going to. You don't have to worry about that." She nestled closer to him, resting her forehead against his neck. "I'm glad you're not mad at me for asking."

"You're the first person to actually ask," Cal said after a moment. "Everyone else just kind of...assumes." And he was grateful that she asked, rather than assumed. He knew that she would have run if she'd just jumped to a conclusion after figuring out what he was.

Jeane smiled a little. "It probably helps that I knew you for a little while before I started asking questions. Before I even know what questions to ask."

"Yeah, that helped too," Cal agreed. He gave her a kiss. "Because, you know, not that I can really get mad at you or anything." Cheesy, but effective nonetheless.

Jeane smiled at that and kissed him. Cheesy, yes, but she appreciated it anyway. "Keep that attitude in mind next time I'm PMSing and get mad at you for no good reason."

Cal snorted and returned the kiss.

"That's what your genie is for," he replied teasingly. "She can do whatever needs to be done to make you not mad at me anymore."

Jeane laughed at that. "Yeah, good luck with that," she said, grinning. "You'll have to figure out a serious bribe to get her to do that." And then she kissed the tip of his nose teasingly.

"It's not her I have to convince," Cal pointed out as he returned her kiss. He smirked. "I just have to annoy Robin." The puck would take care of everything for him, if only to get Cal to shut the hell up. Proven fact.

Jeane laughed again. "You've got it all figured out, haven't you?" she teased, winding her arms around him.

"Until it all blows up, yeah," Cal replied, pulling her closer. "Then I get to see what else might work."

Jeane laughed and gave in to temptation, jumping up to hook her legs around his waist, letting him carry her weight. "I could probably think of a few things, depending on what you need."

Cal was able to hold her up easily, and kissed her as he did so. By now, he knew that he wasn't going to get called back to work at the bar, so the two of them could relax and do what they wanted. Ish could call one of the others if he needed coverage.

Jeane grinned and stayed there, getting comfortable against him and managing to reach behind him to turn on music. Because she hated a quiet apartment.

Of course, she also disliked the people that lived above and below her, so she wasn't going to pass up an opportunity to annoy them, either.

Over the next few days, Khalid had taken to spending a bit more time in her bottle. She still spent her evenings with Robin and Ishiah, but her days were spent closer to 'home.' She knew she was going from arranging things to actively avoiding talking about the issue, but she was a bit nervous about talking to Robin and Ish yet.

Jeane had spent the majority of her time puzzling through things and doing research. So much so that she hadn't been paying much attention to Cal. She still let him over and spent some time with him, but she didn't give him as much attention as he'd gotten used to.

Finally she looked over at Khalid, suspicion nagging her. "Khalid?"

Khalid looked over from the jewelry she was sorting through. They were pieces of hers that she hadn't worn in quite a while, and was considering 'loaning' them to the museum.

"Yes, Jeane?"

"What's going on?" she asked, looking at him. She knew there was something going on, and she had a fair idea of what, but she wanted to see if Khalid would tell her voluntarily first. She hoped so. But she was not going to order this information out of Khalid.

"What do you mean?" Khalid asked, a little wary. She was pretty sure she knew what Jeane was asking about, but she wasn't sure she wanted to share that information just yet. Oh, she knew she would have to tell Jeane, and soon, but it was all completely new to Khalid, and she wasn't entirely sure she wanted to tell anyone yet.

"With the bottle drawing and spending more time here and things." Jeane looked over at her. She had her finger in the middle of a page of one of her research books, but Khalid hadn't been checking to see what she was researching.

Yeah, that's what Khalid thought Jeane was asking about. For a moment, she fought with herself over telling the historian. Jeane was her owner, after all, and was going to have to know.

"Nothing," she said at last.

"You sure?" Jeane looked at her. She didn't want to have to start the conversation, but she would if she had to.

"...For now," Khalid replied reluctantly. She turned her gaze back to the jewelry on the table, avoiding looking at Jeane.

"Sure you're not, I dunno, preparing for another djinn? Like a kid?" Jeane didn't look at her as she spoke. Hopefully Khalid wouldn't get mad.

She seemed to be hoping that a lot recently.

Khalid bit her lip slightly. Busted.

"How much research have you done?" she asked, sidestepping it for the moment. They would get back around to it very shortly, she was sure.
