"I got the outfit when I went to the homeland," Khalid replied. "I was saving it until I could fit into it properly again." She knew what they really meant, but she was playing with them a bit. "Do you like it?"
"Of course," Ishiah said, shooting her a little look. "It looks even nicer than most of your outfits."
"But you didn't have that piercing last I checked, and that was only a week ago." This time Robin spoke up. |
"The piercing is about two days old," Khalid replied, stretching out a bit on the chair and not-so-subtly showing it off. At the moment, it had a sparkling ruby dangling from the gold piercing. "I felt like I wanted something new, and I thought you both might appreciate something new to look at."
Robin grinned broadly, his eyes fixed on the piece of jewelry. Ishiah smirked as well, his wings fluttering. Clearly they both appreciated her new sparkly.
"I have plenty of other sparklies to hang from it," Khalid offered when she saw them staring at the piercing. "Different gems, different colors. If you're interested, of course."
Robin grinned. "Very interested," he murmured. "I bet you have a color to go with every outfit, don't you?"
Ish smirked. He rather liked the ruby, for the moment at least. |
"I might," Khalid replied, grinning a bit. "I think you'll just have to wait and see."
Robin grinned broadly. "Is it healed yet?" Because that would largely determine what he did next. He remembered the last woman he'd seen with one had taken a few months to heal properly.
"A little," Khalid replied. "It's still tender. It's only a couple of days old, after all." Djinni healed faster than humans, but not as fast as pucks did, so he couldn't expect her to be healed immediately.
Robin pouted. Oh well. At least it was somewhat healed. That just meant he'd have to wait a few more weeks to do what he really wanted.
Khalid raised an eyebrow.
"Why?" she asked. "What did you have in mind?" |
"You'll find out when you're healed." Robin grinned at her and moved over to her, kissing her briefly while his hands rested on her skin.
"You're no fair sometimes," Khalid murmured around the kiss. And just to keep things fair, once she broke the kiss with Robin she kissed Ishiah as well.
Ish smirked and stayed there while Robin worked on figuring out how much room they had on the chair. And if they really wanted to make it all the way up to the bedroom.
After a moment, Khalid rolled her eyes and made the decision for them.
"Both of you upstairs," she said, nudging them both. |
Both males scrambled to obey, hurrying up the stairs and getting her on the bed before Robin shut the door.
It was well into the early morning when Cal finally got back to the apartment. He wasn't sure how late it really was, but the last time he'd looked at a clock, it told him two-thirty. So he made sure to stay quiet as he went inside, so he didn't bother Jeane.
Jeane was still awake, having made a run over to the museum earlier. She was sittin in bed with an ancient Arabic text, deciphering it easily. Which still sort of scared the crap out of her.
Cal leaned in the doorway of the bedroom.
"What the hell is that?" he asked, squinting a bit at what he thought was the title. "Is that even in English?" |
"No," Jeane admitted after a moment. "It's ancient Arabic. This specific dialect hasn't been used for a few thousand years, I think." She sounded fairly calm, and she was proud of herself for that. She put a bookmark in and set the book off to the side carefully. "So how'd things go?"
"The way things always go," Cal replied, shrugging. He went and sat down on the bed. "Since when can you read ancient whatever-it-is?"
Jeane neatly side-stepped that particular minefield by going straight into another one. "Hey, Cal? I know you said you're not comfortable with the idea of a kid, but is it an unpleasant thought? Like do you actually dislike the idea, or is it just foreign?"
Cal blinked. Wow, way to change the subject.
"I dunno," he replied finally. "I don't dislike it, I guess... I've just never really been all that good with kids. Not that I ever had a chance to actually be around kids, but still." |
Jeane nodded. "So you don't hate the idea, you're just not used to it and not comfortable with it," she confirmed. Okay. That she could work with.
"I guess so," Cal said slowly, nodding. He didn't hate the idea, no. She pretty much had the right idea; he just wasn't used to the idea of having kids.
