"They haven't called me in a panic yet," Khalid pointed out. "So think things might be going alright. So unless you wanted to go bug Cal for a while, we have time to spare."
"Nah, I'm up for whatever." Jeane shrugged. "Cal should be getting along just fine without me."
"Alright, then," Khalid said. "Do you want to come back with me and watch the men try to handle Alexander?"
"As long as you don't mind the company." Jeane smiled a little. "Besides, Alexander is cute and fun to play with."
"I don't mind," Khalid replied. "You're like family, Jeane, there's nothing to worry about." She grinned. "And Alexander likes playing with his Auntie Jeanie."
Jeane grinned and nodded. That was good enough for her.
"Alright. Would you rather walk or do you want to pop us over there? Either one is fine with me." |
Khalid raised an eyebrow.
"Jeane, you hate my way of traveling," she pointed out. |
"It's faster than walking," Jeane said with a shrug. "And last time we tried to get a cab you looked tempted to curse the cab driver, remember?"
"Because he was leering at us and wanted to charge us three times what he should have when I noticed he was leering," Khalid retorted. "He would have deserved it."
Jeane laughed quietly. "Really, you live with Robin and you worry about someone leering at you?" she teased, trying to smother her grin.
"Robin doesn't mean it most of the time," Khalid replied. "He's mostly harmless in that regard, it's just teasing."
Jeane rolled her eyes. "Well, if you want to pop us over to your place, I'll be okay. As long as it's just once."
"I'm surprised you're even putting up with it once," Khalid teased. Once she sent a quick message to let Robin and Ish know she and Jeane were on their way, she snapped her fingers and popped them to the house.
Jeane only looked a little disconcerted after the jump, and she shook herself briefly.
"See? I can handle it once in a while." Ishiah and Robin both looked over towards the two and Ish got up, carrying Alexander over to Khalid, since she would undoubtedly want to see their son. |
Khalid just smiled a bit indulgently at Jeane, and then took Alexander when he was brought over.
"Did he behave?" she asked. "Or have you both been scrambling around trying to fix whatever got messed up?" |
"We was mostly good," Ish said. "There were only a few... mishaps."
Jeane snorted and shook her head. "At least the house is still standing and is in the same place." "Yes, but Robin did have to fetch a few toys from the roof." |
"That's normal," Khalid replied, holding her son close and cuddling him a bit before handing him to Jeane.
Jeane smiled and cuddled the boy a little, tickling his cheek gently.
Robin grinned. "Looks like you'll take swimmingly to motherhood, girl." Jeane flushed. |
Khalid gave Robin a bit of a Look, but didn't comment. She knew that he knew what was going on, and he knew better than to take the teasing too far.
Robin held up his hands placatingly. Hey, Jeane didn't look upset, so he figured that he hadn't gone too far yet.
Khalid relented after a moment and turned her attention back to Jeane and Alexander. Robin had been right, regardless; Khalid could tell Jeane would be a good mother. Now they just had to get her to that point.
Jeane was quite happy to coddle Alexander for a bit, playing with him and grinning. She bounced him some, glancing at Khalid with a grin.
Khalid grinned back.
"That one's mine," she teased, "you can't keep him." |
"I know." Jeane pouted a little. "That's okay. I'll get my own. Eventually. Besides, I can babysit for you."
"Just keep on Cal about it," Khalid said. She was sure he would come around eventually.
