"None taken. You will know when the powers leave you. But for Ashleigh and her healing powers, they are coming more and more permament" Yusei replied.
"Thank you so much. I know a certain somebody who would be so jelous that I got to stay here" Yuai replied mysteriously. "Yuai" Yusei said in a warning tone. "Sorry." "Let me guess, the dungeon?" the enitiy asked. |
"I'm not even gonna ask." Yugi said. "Come on, Yuai, let's get you a room. That way the rest of us--all of us--can get some sleep."
Aoi nodded. "I'll remember that, she said." She placed her hand over her heart, where she kept her deck in a pocket in her hakama. "And don't worry, I'll take good care of Stardust." "Not this time." Kamiri replied. "Let's welcome her to the throne room for a change. Since she's giving herself to us willingly this time, I don't see any need for her to be in those harsh conditions." Melhana leaned up against the door as she waited for Jack to finish meditating. It looks like he finally knows the benefits of meditation. She thought. "Let's see how much your power has matured in these past few weeks." She said. "I want to see how close you are to summoning your ka." "My what?" Jack asked. "Your ka. Your soul." She placed a hand on her chest. "The true form of your spirit that's at the very heart of your being. It reveals your true nature. Here," Melhana placed her hands in front of her. "Allow me to demonstrate." She closed her eyes and touched the pool of magic inside her. Her aura glowed and pulsated around her, filling the room with the aroma of dragon's blood insence. "I summon you, my ka." She said in ancient Egyptian. "Chaos Command Magician!" With those last words, the regal form of the spellcaster formed from the aura, standing proudly beside his misstress. Jack whistled. Melhana lowered her arms, her aura still glowing. "This is my ka. The Chaos Command Magician." |
"I see. But what should I do for a body in the meantime?" the entity asked.
"Thank you Aoi. Now Yuai, I'm counting on you. You're our ultimate shard and we don't want you gone. Yusei said. Yuai nodded. "I hate to say it but everyone OUT!" Ashleigh yelled. "Oh boy, she's PMSing again" Aka sighed. |
Kaimiri motioned toward her with his finger. "Come with me, darling." He said. "Yusei, I'd like you to keep an eye on the rest of our shards. I have them under surveilance. If any of them do anything out of the ordinary, go after them. And keep in mind your target."
"As you wish," Yusei replied, giving a slight bow. Kaimiri smiled and led the female entity to the library. "No need to tell me twice." Aoi said, turning on her heel and leaving the room. "Okay, it's official, Ashleigh's on her period. Everyone out." Yugi said calmly. He ducked a shoe thrown at his head as he left the room. |
"You stay here Yugi!" Ashleigh demanded. A groan was the responce.
"Why are we at the library?" the entity asked, confused. |
Yugi motioned for the others to go ahead and leave. I'll meet up with you later. Was the unspoken message.
"What's up?" He asked Ashleigh when the room had emptied. "You'll see." Kamiri said simply. |
"There is something I have to tell you and Aka knows this already" Ashleigh said, "I'm an Angel Spirit. That's why I'm a healer. But why me?"
The entity pondered what Kaimiri meant. "Is it true that I'm getting actual feelings?" it asked. |
Kaimiri sighed. "Yes," He said. "I noticed it when you were still inhabiting the girl's body. Since you now have emotions and an ego of your own, the only thing I can do is fashion a body, if only temporary, for you." What he didn't mention, as to reduce the chance of embarassment for the entity, that it also had a gender.
He stepped into the library, the entity following, and closed the heavy doors behind him. "We're going to the back." He said. "There is the only place the spells we need are kept." Yugi sat down on the side of Ashleigh's bed. "I know," he said. "Max told me." He put a hand around her shoulder in comfort. "I don't know. I really don't. Then again, I think we're all winging it to an extent in this." |
Ashleigh looked up at her husband.
"Remember the time where we first met? Under the Sakura tree?" she asked. "Then, why do i have these feelings for you?" the entity asked, making Kaimiri stop in his tracks. |
Yugi smiled. "I do," he said. "Your Japanese wasn't all that bad, you know. You were really self-concious about it though. It wasn't as bad as Selena's when she first came to Japan."
Kaimiri stopped and paused. After a moment, he turned to the entity. "I am your creator, not your lover." He replied. "That is all." |
"I know that buy why do I have these feelings for you and how can I get rid of it?" it asked.
"You think? My Japanese was terrible. The only languages I knew was English and Maori" Ashleigh said, "that took you by surprise when I greeted you in the language you never heard of." |
Yugi laughed. "You weren't as bad as you thought you were. And yes, it did." He said. "About all I've managed to pick up since then is 'hello', 'thank you', and 'idiot'."
"That is easier said than done." Kaimiri said. "There is...not really a spell or enchantment, but a magical operation of a sort that was often used in Atlantis. It would eliminate a certain emotion from an individual, and it was a favorite for creating the special forces in their military for a time." He turned back. "It's complicated to perform, but it should work for one...but I'm not sure how it would work on a non-human." |
"Concidering that one of the hello's and thank you are the same word. And remember when i was trying to teach everyone to count to ten? Every time I say Rua, Leo is always saying yes" Ashleigh said.
****** "I see" replied the entity. |
"Oh, yeah. I remember." Yugi replied. "What number is rua again?"
Kaimiri opened the doors to the back chamber of the library. The scrolls and stone tablets in this room greatly predated Atlantis--some even predated human civilization. "That...is your soul?" Jack asked. "But....It's the wrong gender." "Gender has nothing to do with it." Melhana said. She allowed her ka to dispell. "My younger half-brother has a ka that is female. My fiancee's isn't even human in appearance. Like I said before, a person's ka is the true nature of their soul. Gender--or species for that matter--is irrelevant." Jack nodded. "Okay then." He said. "What do you want me to do?" Melhana took her shoes and jacket off and stepped onto the training mat. "Fight me." She replied. Jack gave her a bemused look. "A mages' duel. That way I can see how far you've come." |
"Holy crap! That's enormance!" the entity gasped.
"It means 2. And care to explain what's rua in Japanese?" Ashleigh asked. |
"This library has works from times immesurable." Kaimiri explained as he examined the scrools on a nearby shelf. "Many of these are older than Atlantis. Most older than the human race."
Yugi sighed and sat back. "Honestly, I'm not really sure about the name's translation." He replied. |
"And you know that because why?" the entity asked.
Ashleigh hit Yugi with a pillow. "And you said that your first language was Japanese! But on the other hand, I wonder what Yuai's future is like?" she wondered. Yuai looked amazed on what she saw as Aoi and Max took her to her quarters. "So this is what the past is like. Amazing! I take this over my time any day" she said. |
Kaimiri didn't answer. "Damn, where is that scroll...?" He asked absently.
"Hey! I'm not an expert on names." Yugi protested. He shrugged. "I guess we can only wonder to be honest." "I hope that you will be comfortable here," Max said. "Trust me, this isn't the first time-travelling incident we've dealt with." Jack nodded and moved to face Melhana. He struck out first, using his aura to ignite the air between them, and create a blade of flames in the shape of a katana. Within seconds he had traversed the space between him and Melhana, and thought for sure he was going to land a blow. Melhana merely smiled and doged the attack. Jack changed course with a feint to her middle, then switched at the last minute to a strike at her legs. She blocked by hardening her aura into armor around the one he was going for, which added dragon's blood to the citrus scent in the air. "Not bad." She said. She used her aura to form a halberd. "Now watch me." She lashed back with a swipe at Jack's head, but he ducked. He jumped out of range when she stabbed towards his middle. "Not so tough now, are we?" He taunted. "You've got better control of your power. Good." Melhana said. "But that coat of yours is a liability in a fight." She snapped, and the hem caught fire. "When you ducked my attack I hooked a stream of my power to it, and I jused used that to set your coat afire." |
"You mean the Paradox incident? Laria and myself have been studding that recently until I was kidnapped" Yuai replied.
"Would it be funny if there was cleaning bots thinking that cards was trash?" Ashleigh asked, not knowing that it happened in Yuai's time. Yana, who was watching, studied Melhana's movements before she was tested. She spotted Jacks coat on fire and cracked up laughing. "She's right you know" she cried. |
Max nodded. "We're trying to figure out a way to prevent time travel like that to happen again. What Paradox did altered the timeline....badly."
"You might think that's funny, but I don't." Yugi replied. Jack swore as he stomped on the burning coat. It only made them worse. "I'd take that off if I were you." Melhana said. "Otherwise you'll just be in more trouble." |
"Oh lighten up! I want to spend the next 4 weeks with you and you aren't even laughing" Ashleigh huffed.
"But when the shards are around, it's really hard to accomplish" Yuai replied. "She's right. We don't want a fire drill because of it" Yana called out. |
"Sorry, it's just with all that's been happening...I guess I've been a bit guarded since you were captured." Yugi replied. "I can't believe you're going back to that place. If I didn't know you better, I'd think you'd have gone crazy...."
"Shut up!" Jack yelled back as he finally got his coat put out. He threw the ruined garment aside and prepared a counterattack. He put his hand out in front of him and created a spark of mages' fire in his palm, which he then added to. Before long there he had formed out of the mages' fire liquid flames a dragon, and used it to attack Melhana. Melhana dodged easily, using her own conjuring against the beast. She hardened her aura into armor around her, and added properties that would allow it to withstand the heat. That dragon Jack formed from the mages' fire, it looks just like Red Dragon Archfiend. She smiled. That's probably where he got the idea. "Ready to give up?" Jack taunted as Melhana kept on dodging the attacks. "Not likely," She replied, using a technique from her training; the flash step. It allowed her to move quicker than the eye registered, making it look like she'd teleported to right in front of Jack. "Sorry, but that big dragon of yours only works for distances. Let's see how you work your magic at close quarters." With that she formed the halberd once again from her hardened aura, and brought it down on Jack. |
"If this happened years ago, I would've agreed but it's the only way to bring Kaimiri down. They're thinking that I want this to stop but no. To activate my Angelic Powers, I have to do this. Meaning in 5 weeks time, you have to fight. Getting the bandage off will be hard but will be worth it. It will be our advantage" Ashleigh said, "My heart is telling me to do it but my head and body says no. I don't know what to do." At that, the girl cried.
Jack was flunged back right into Yana. Those two hit the wall. "Melhana! Give warning next time you're going to do that!" she yelled. "Why not try that pile over there?" the entity said, pointing to a pile over in the corner. It was covered in cobwebs. "Max! We have a problem! People who called themselves No. Hunters has shown up!" Saharia yelled. "What? But Numbers doesn't exist here! Neither as XZY Monsters!" Yuai gasped. "Then the rift in the time continuum has gone bigger! Not good. Max, I know this is a pain but can you move D-Day a few weeks forward. If the hole isn't repaired, time will be gone and goodness knows what will happened if Kaimiri isn't stopped" Saharia exclaimed. |
Max cursed. "I'm afraid you're right about that. And I don't like it one bit." She replied.
"There aren't any warnings in battle." Melhana replied. "That's one of the first lessons every novice learns." Jack picked himself up off the ground. He struck back at Melhana with a swing of his sword. Melhana blocked easily. He's gotten better...but he's putting far too much power into his swings. She thought. Jack, you're wasting your energy on raw power. "You're wasting your energy when you strike like that." Melhana said as she parried his blows. "Cut with the sword, not with your arms. What matters is the effect your strike has, not the raw power behind it." Jack didn't reply. His use of raw strength did reduce, but there was still too much power behind the strikes. Melhana, with every parry, let a small stream of magic attach itself to Jack. He was concentrating on large, powerful attacks, and Melhana was using her magic more subtly, though no less effective. Once the lines were set, she dodged away, out of Jack's range. She let the halberd disperse back into her aura, and pulled on the lines of magic, thus immobilizing Jack as he came after her. Yugi let the girl cry into his shoulder as he gently stroked her head, no knowing what to say. Kaimiri casually lifted a finger to the pile in the corner. One of the books lifted towards him, and he caught it without looking. He flipped through the pages, then put it down again. "No, it's not in here." He said. |
"Now you tell me" Yana groaned, recovering from the pain.
"So you probaly need my help after all. I know all the weak spots of the entity anyway" Yuai said. After piles and piles, Kaimiri still didn't find the one he was looking for. The entity turned around and the right book/scroll was floating right behind her. "Is this the one?" she asked. "I'm scared. What happens if Kaimiri doesn't want my heart?" Ashleigh asked, though the sobbing. |
