"Check your deck. You never know if it came back to you" Mrs Fudo cried out.
"I wonder what happened?" Rua asked. "It is. Check your deck Aoi. You will see that a certain card isn't there anymore. "So should we do the spell or what?" Ashleigh asked. |
Yugi nodded. "Right, let's get this over with." He replied.
"Same here," Ruka said. Aoi obeyed. "Stardust Dragon is gone," she said in awe. Yusei checked his deck. His hopes fell. "Stardust isn't back," he said sadly. |
Ashleigh lay down on the bed.
"I hope this time it will properly work" she said. "I think most of the targets are gone and nearly cleared the room from them" Rua said stretching. "That means Stardust Dragon is returning to Yusei as we speak" Ruby said, "Now, what's happening with Aki?" "Don't give up hope Yusei. Stardust is coming back one way or another" Mrs Fudo yelled. |
"Me too," Yugi said. He placed his hand on her forehead and looked to Crow. "Watch carefully; I'm not going to teach you this spell, but it's best that you know what it does."
Crow nodded and leaned up against the doorframe. Yugi turned back to Ashleigh and closed his eyes, and began the incantations for the spell. "Yeah, after you started aiming." Ruka said. "According to the doctor here, she's got the same sickness as Bakura." Selena said. "Aki asked me to call you here for a second opinion." Yusei nodded as he descended to the ground. "Now, how am I supposed to carry this th--" He didn't get to finish his sentance as the sword turned white and changed into a pendant in the shape of the Crimson Dragon's crest. |
Ashleigh felt the same sensation as before, but forgot to close her eyes. She was pulled deeper and deeper this time round.
"Hey, is it me or is it too quiet around here?" Rua asked. Ruby nodded and scanned Aki. "The doctor's wrong" she said after a while, "its an Oblivion 24 hour bug and it's really fatal. You need to be on a blood transfusion asap Aki." "That answered that question" Mrs Fudo replied. |
"Yeah," Yusei said. Then a rather...awkward thought struck him. "If I managed to pull the sword here....then what does that mean for the world of the living?"
Ruka nodded. "Yeah. Even Yana's being really quiet." She said. "Hey, did you see Yugi and Ashleigh since they went upstairs?" "My god...." the doctor said. "We've got to get you to the sickbay, now. Are you strong enough to walk?" |
"That I don't know. But I know that you need that sword. I can't believe I'm going to say this but, you're here to do one thing" Mrs Fudo said.
"No and I don't wanna know" Rua replied. Aki shook her head. |
Ruka sighed. "You're a big help." She said.
Selena sat down on the edge of Aki's bed. "Climb onto my back; I'll carry you down there." She said. "Trust me, I'm stronger than I look." "What is it I'm supposed to do?" Yusei asked. |
"Well, we better finished up here" Rua said and aiming at yet another target.
Aki obeyed. Why am I feeling this way? she thought, am I really going to die? "You're here to face your demons" Mrs Fudo said, "It's the only way to get back." |
Ruka nodded and aimed at another, blasting it even before Rua was done aiming.
Once she was sure Aki was securely on her back, Selena stood up. "Let's get going." She said. "My demons?" Yusei asked. "What...what does that mean?" |
"I think I need more practice" Rua said, finally blasting another target.
Aka poked her head around the door. "Where are you guys going?" she asked. "I have no idea but everyone has their own personal demons" Mrs Fudo replied. Ashleigh was able to regain herself this time round. She stopped in the middle of the darkness surrounding her. Now all I have to do is wait an hour she thought. |
"I think you're right." Ruka said as she took out another target.
Yugi let the last word of the incantation drift out of his mouth. He slowly opened his eyes to see his wife's lifeless body, feel her cold skin on his hand. He took his hand from her forehead. "And now we wait." "What's got Aki sick isn't what we thought it was," Aoi said. "It's something called the 24 Hour Oblivion bug. Ruby checked up on it." "So...I can't go back to the world of the living...until I defeat my inner demons?" Yusei asked. "This is too confusing...." |
Just then Yana came down the stairs.
"You guys ok?" she asked. "Say what? Get her to the sickbay and fast. I be there shortly" Aka said. "Your brother had the same opportunity himself but he refused for one reason and another" Mrs Fudo replied. |
"Yeah, we're doing fine. Rua can't aim though." Ruka said.
Selena and Aoi nodded. "Come on, you three! We can't take all day!" The doctor called from the lift. "Why do you think he did that?" Yusei asked. "I mean, if he's so mad about being dead, you'd think he'd have jumped at the chance to...well, live." |
"Hurry...I think I be going to cough up some more blood" Aki said weakily.
Yana laughed. "Took me a while too but I got better as I practiced" Yana said, "Don't worry. I talk to Ruby to teach you how to aim when she gets back." Then the tags went cold again. "Mum....I hope you get back soon" she said. "That I was thinking, but I think with the burdern he has, he would've been turned into a Dark Signer" his mother replied. |
"You heard the woman," Selena said as the elevator arrived. "Let's move."
After only a few minutes--which seemed like an eternity--the lift arrived at the sickbay floor. "Get a gurney ready, now! And get me some type-O blood, stat! We've got a girl with Oblivion." he barked at a nearby nurse. She didn't hesitate to follow the orders. "Did you fry a lampshade?" Ruka asked, giving her brother a pointed look. "Dad said the same thing," Yusei said. "What kind of burden does he have, other than being dead?" |
"Ruka! My mum is on a verge of being dead and all you can think of is a bloody lamp?" Yana snapped.
"I don't know. He always kept it to himself" Mrs Fudo replied. |
"Yii! Sorry!" Ruka replied. "How long do you think she'll be gone?"
"I see," Yusei said with a nod. "I can try and talk to him, but..." he yawned. "Right now, I'm a bit tired." |
"hopefully an hour" Yana said.
"Ok, but I fear something is going to happen and you need to be alert. And you can sleep anywhere you like" Mrs Fudo replied. |
"Thanks," Yusei replied, heading inside. He slipped the pendant down under his shirt for safekeeping.
"Why do you say hopefully?" Ruka asked. |
"Because the spell that has been use, there is a possiblity mum won't return" Yana said.
I hope you understand that it will happen to one of your friends Mrs Fudo thought as she followed Yusei. "You sure you be ok?" she asked. |
"What do you mean she might not retur?!" Ruka asked. "You mean...she can actuallly die for good?"
"Yeah, I'll be fine." Yusei replied. |
"Yes. That's why dad is worried" Yana replied.
"Ok, I be in the lounge if you need me" Mrs Fudo said and headed for the living room. |
"I wouldn't blame him," Ruka said.
Yusei nodded and headed upstairs. Is this what it's like to have an actual family? Yusei thought. |
"Yeah" Yana said, "All we have to wait is an hour."
30 minutes has passed. It will take me 30 minutes to get back she thought and started to head up. But when she did, demons followed her and grabbed her legs. She screamed so loud that even Yusei could hear it when he was walking up the stairs. Minutes past and Ashleigh knew it was the end of her back home. |
