"Right," Yugi replied. He paused for several minutes.
"The hand-off is happening in two weeks." |
"That means the pressure will be finally off?" Ashleigh asked.
|
"Yes," Yugi replied. "By the time you're back, there'll be five new Legends."
|
"That's good. Then we be a family again" Ashleigh said, "that's if I want to go back that is."
|
"Yeah, if you want to go back." Yugi said, looking away. Will she really choose to stay here?
|
"It's going to be tough. Coming back or my people" Ashleigh said.
|
"I know," Yugi replied. He placed his hand on hers. "You'll still have my support no matter what you choose."
|
"Then there is the crowning and this wedding. I don't know who I'm going to marry" Ashleigh said. Just then Gabriel and Uriel came into the room.
|
"Are you feeling all right?" Gabriel asked. "Yugi Mutou, greetings."
"Likewise," Yugi replied. "Who're you marrying, Ashleigh?" |
"Feeling sore but ok" Ashleigh replied, "and no, I don't know who I'm marrying."
|
"Oh," Yugi replied. "I gues...this means we won't be..."
|
"Don't say that" Ashleigh said, "It could be anyone, including you. But I don't like the thought of arranged marrages at all."
|
"Neither do I." Yugi replied. "And what I hate most is the fact that you might be married off to someone else."
|
"Same here" Ashleigh said, "oh, Master Uriel, I didn't see you there."
|
"It is all right," Uriel replied. "I was allowing you to finish your moment with your husband."
"Why're you two here?" Yugi asked. |
"I was about to ask the same thing Master Uriel" Ashleigh said, then noticed something in Uriel's hand that was gleaming in the sunlight.
"Is that.....my dogtags?" she asked. |
"Yes, it is." Uriel said, handing the girl her dogtags. "It appears they are linked to several other pendants in the same design. I did not meddle with it or the magic it has, however, so you have no need to worry."
|
"It only has energy in it" Ashleigh replied, putting them on, making everyone else's dagtags go warm which made them wonder why they were warm.
"YUAI!" Atem called. The girl in question turned around and saw Atem and Melhana riding on the motorbike. "Yea?" Yuai asked. |
"I see," Uriel replied. "Yugi Mutou, I am afraid you will have to leave before long so that you do not risk endangering your health. The amulet Lanchia gave you is beginning to wear down, as you can tell by the darkening shade on the gem."
"We've been looking for you." Melhana said, bringing her motorcycle to a stop. She flipped up the visor on her helmet so Yuai could see her better. |
"I guess it's time to say goodbye then" Ashleigh said sadly.
"Oh? Just happens that I want to have a good look before I go back" Yuai said, "and I'm almost done too." |
"Yeah..." Yugi said, looking down. "You can't get back soon enough."
"Good," Melhana said with a relieved sigh. "You had us worried there." |
"Yeah" Ashleigh said.
"Come on Yugi" Lanchia called from the hallway, "It's time to go." "Yeah. Have to take idiot brain back with me" Yuai said, "Can't BELIEVE that Laria sent him here." |
"Right," Yugi said, getting up. He kissed Ashleigh on the forehead. "I hope you'll be back soon," he whispered.
"Beats me," Melhana replied. "She must've sent him here for a reason though. He was a help beating Kaimiri, at least." |
"Same here" Ashleigh said, a tear slid down her face.
"Well, at least he was a big help" Yuai said. |
"Even if he does give Jonouchi a run for his money in the bonehead department." Melhana replied. "How long are you going to be?"
Yugi wiped the tear from her face. "Keep strong for me, all right?" He asked. |
