When the glowing ended, Ashleigh's eyes fluttered and opened.
"Ooh, my head" she groaned. |
"You feeling all right?" Melhana asked. "And which is it now? Ashleigh, or Malenkia?"
"Still me, and no, I'm not feeling that great" Ashleigh replied.
"Want to postpone the wedding till your feeling better? It wouldn't be a good thing for the maid of honor to pass out in the middle of the ceremony." Melhana said.
"No" Ashleigh replied, "you been waiting for this for too long and I can't bear the fact for you waiting longer."
Melhana smiled, her eyes softening. "Right," she said. "Just try not to pass out."
Uriel stood. "I can see that you're all right, Ashleigh." He said. With that, he returned to the angelic plane. |
"What was he here for?" Ashleigh asked, confused on Uriel there in the first place.
"To check on you, apparently." Melhana replied.
"Oh" Ashleigh said, "after the cermony, I have to go for a lie down."
Melhana nodded. "Okay," she said. "Till then, let's finish getting ready."
Ashleigh nodded and washed her hands before putting on her gloves. Then she lay down on the couch and closed her eyes.
Melhana went to the bathroom when Ashleigh had laid down and started applying her makeup, starting with the eyeshadow. It was silver, and she used a purple highlight. Aftwards, she applied the eyeliner in an old Egyptian style, outlining her eyes, and finishing with the mascara. Finally, black lipstick and lipliner. "All I need now is the veil and train." She said.
After a while, Ashleigh was shaken awake by Melhana.
"Wha?" she mumbled, yawning. |
"Almost time," Melhana said. She had her train on, just not the veil.
Ashleigh nodded and got up.
"I still a bit under the weather, but I be ok" she said. |
"'kay," Melhana said, smiling. She ran her fingers through her bangs; they were normal, not straightened and parted like they normally were. They looked like Atem's. She put on her veil and swept it back so that she'd be able to see. "Right, let's get to the chapel area."
Ashleigh again nodded and slipped on her shoes.
"Lets go" she said quietly. |
Melhana grinned. The two left the room, and Melhana was almost skipping. When they were there, she recognized a certain someone in a dark blue suit jacket and white pants. "Dad!" She exclaimed, running to the Egyptian man.
"I thought you would like to have the official stuff done today also, so I invited your dad to walk down the aisle, even it was about a few days late notice" Ashleigh said, "So you won't have to do the wedding twice."
"Thank you!" Melhana shrieked, glomping Ashleigh.
"Never thought I'd see my sis in a dress," another voice said. Melhana looked up to see a blonde Egptian, with a face the same shape as Melhanas and brown eyes. "Can it, Carmen." Melhana said. She looked to Ashleigh. "You got Carmen here, too?" Mr. Ankh laughed. "More like I couldn't keep your brother from coming." He said. "I believe his exact words were 'I didn't think it was possible for the hothead from Hell to find a husband'." "Da--ACK!" Carmen was cut off as Melhana got him in a headlock and started giving him a noogie. "OWOWOWOW!!!!" |
"Shall we go?" Ashleigh asked, curious how Atem would cope being as the minister for a day.
Melhana nodded. She flipped the veil back down over her face (after letting go of Carmen, of course) and took her father's arm. "Here goes nothing," She said nervously.
"You'll do fine," Mr. Ankh said as the doors were opened. |
"Trust me" Ashleigh wispered, "I know how you feel" then walked down, following Ruka and Rua (since Melhana wasn't able to find younger children, she had to ask the twins to help out.
"Rua, quit figeting," Ruka said. "You look ridiculous."
Bakura gulped. Melhana's father was leading her down the aisle, and Melhana looked beautiful. He couldn't keep his legs from trembling; all he could do was hope that no one could see. Don't pass out, He thought desperately. Just don't pass out.... He didn't even hear Selena playing the song One Love on the piano. Bakura was wearing a white tuxedo with violet trim on the cuffs, the bottom, and lining the lapels, which were black, and a vest to match the trim on the jacket. He had a black silken dress shirt on underneath the vest, and a white tie. The trousers had a black line running down the outside seam and the black dress shoes he was wearing were shined (thanks to Selena's prodding). He had his hair drawn back in a low ponytail and tied with a thin, black ribbon. He gulped again; his throat and mouth were too dry to be natural. After what felt like somewhere between an instant and eternity, Melhana's father had finished leading the woman down the aisle and taken his seat. Bakura was now facing the woman who had been his fiancee for the last several months, finally at their wedding ceremony. |
Melhana quick glanced at Ashleigh who gave her a nod.
'You will be ok. Like I said, you won't regreat it' she mindlinked. |
