"This won't hurt a bit," he said as he moved over to her. He paused, the syringe just above a spot a little below her shoulder. "Well. Maybe a bit." He jabbed the syringe in and injected her with the contents before putting a band-aid over the little puncture wound. "Lie down for a bit. You might be dizzy."
|
Andy flinched when he jabbed her with the needle.
"I hate you all," she muttered darkly as she felt the dizziness set in. She did as he said and laid down and closed her eyes, praying the room wouldn't be spinning for long. |
"I realised." The scientist left again without another word, leaving her there.
A few hours later he went and collected Belle to test the limit again. "Do you mind if I volunteer a bishi?" Belle asked him, her voice tired. "I don't want them all to go through this again. Please." He paused for a moment before he nodded and took her to the control room. "Which one?" "Him." She pointed to Al's monitor. "Can I ask him?" He flipped a switch and turned the microphone to her. "Al, I need you to do me a favor. He's going to test the limit of the bond again, and he's going to move you out of the cell to do it. Is that okay with you? Can you manage that?" Belle pitched her voice a little differently than she would normally, and she saw a brief grin spread across the demon's face before he nodded. "Alright, come along," he said, starting to pull her to another room. They were only half-way there when the explosions started and startled yells came from down a corridor. Algaliarept was having fun getting his own personal revenge and blowing things up. Especially the blowing things up part. Several doors came free or partially free from their frames, letting the others out. |
Andy perked up a bit when she heard the explosions. Each one rattled her door, but it didn't open.
*Andy?* she heard in her head. She nearly melted in relief. 'Lucivar,' she thought. She knew he would hear her if he kept listening. 'I'm okay. Let the others out, then take out the cameras. Do whatever it takes, go wild.' *Consider it done,* Lucivar replied. She could practically hear the growl in his voice. Sitting on the bed, she waited for one of them to come and break her out. |
Belle was pacing her room like a mad tiger waiting to be let out, a faint growl coming from her. She could hear the explosions, farther down the hallway, but she couldn't tell how far away they were or when they'd get to her. They sounded kinda far off, and seemed to be getting farther. She went over and kicked her door in anger, growling and snarling curses to herself.
A moment later a loud explosion, only a few doors down, made her jump. She heard some yelling, and then her door was literally ripped from its frame by an extremely angry Eclipse. "Belle!" He grabbed her and held her close, breathing a faint sigh of relief even as he effortlessly held her several inches off the ground. "'Clipse! Can't breathe!" Belle gasped, though she was hugging him back for all she was worth. He put her down. "Come on, we have to go." He kept her hand in his, pulling her along the corridor as most of the bishis were released, most of them looking very angry and ready to level the place to the ground, if necessary. |
Andy could hear the explosions getting closer, though they didn't sound close enough to affect her door yet. That's why she jumped when all of a sudden her door was pulled off its hinges. She was surprised, and relieved, to see Sess in the doorway.
"Sess!" she said. Before she could take more than a step towards him, he'd crossed the room and swept her into a hug. "I'm glad you're alright," he murmured to her. "I'm fine," she replied as she hugged him in return. "I was more worried about you." "You needn't worry about me," he said, still holding her. "I still do," she said. Carefully, she slid out of his arms. "Come on, we need to find the others. I'm guessing Lucivar is helping cause some of the mayhem out there, but we still need to find everyone else." |
Belle paused when she saw Andy. "Hey! You okay?" she asked, running over to her, Eclipse still holding onto her hand.
Lucifer sauntered down the hallway over to Belle. "Everyone's out now," he said. "Except for that last trainer." "Um, I guess he's in one of these rooms." Belle looked around helplessly. |
"We're fine," Andy replied. She visibly relaxed when her bishies came up to them. Once she'd recalled them all, she looked around. Some of the doors were still shut, and they were just numbered. Then she got an idea.
"Seth!" she called, "Bang on your door!" After all, if she could hear things through the door of her own cell, logic dictates that Seth would be able to hear them as well. |
Belle looked around, listening. A few moments later she heard banging from farther down the hall, along with a muffled yell of "Get me out of here!"
Eclipse walked over and, quite calmly, ripped the door free of the doorframe, dropping it off to the side. Seth gulped a little. "Thanks," he said, his voice a little shaky as he walked out. Olivia moved over to him, concerned. |
"Alright, we're all free..." Andy looked around. "Should we get out of here like we did last time? A window to freedom?"
|
"Unless we can find a door," Belle said, looking around. "Come on. Let's see what we can find in this place."
|
Andy nodded and started to follow them. She grinned when she saw Belle and Eclipse holding hands.
"Well, it's about time," she teased. |
Belle blushed faintly while Eclipse merely pulled her closer, choosing not to comment. At least until he found a door.
He raised his hand and, with a muttered word, the door exploded outwards, showing them trees growing close around the house. "I believe this will suffice." |
"As long as we're actually outside, I'm not complaining," Andy said, reaching for Lien's ball. As soon as they had the space, she was ready to release the dragon and get the hell out of there.
|
Eclipse led the way out into the trees, leading them away. As soon as they got to a large enough space he paused and turned to look at Andy
|
"I'm on it," Andy said, deciding against using Lien and calling out Temeraire instead. "Temmy is better, he's got the harness," she said. "That way Seth has something to hold on to." She looked up at the dragon. "Temmy, come on, we're escaping again, and you're our ride out of here." The dragon nodded, and held out a claw to lift everyone onto his back. Andy immediately stepped up with Sess.
|
Olivia decided to sit this ride out, retreating to her bishiball. Belle and Eclipse went up next, Seth following them up.
"This is insane and incredible," Seth said, getting settled and grabbing into the harness. "Welcome to our world," Belle said calmly, Eclipse sitting behind her and holding on to her. |
"Flying dragonback is normal here," Andy added. She felt Sess wrap his arms around her waist firmly and he pulled her back closer to him. "Alright, Temmy, we're all set, have at it!" Immediately, the black dragon spread his massive wings and took off.
|
Eclipse held on to Belle tighter as Temeraire took off. He growled to himself, unsettled, and held on even tighter. Seth clung to the harness though he didn't seem quite so scared.
|
Andy held onto the harness, though nowhere nearly as tightly as Seth and Eclipse were. She was perfectly comfortable without the harness, but she preferred it so she had something to hang on to if Temeraire decided to experiment with some maneuvers. She could feel the tension in his muscles, though, and knew that he was too unsettled to do that.
|
Belle hung on to the harness loosely, looking around. She saw the first town pass below them and nodded. "The second town should be about 40 or 50 miles in that direction!" she yelled to Andy over the wind, pointing. "How long?"
|
"Half an hour, non-stop," Andy called back over the wind. "Longer if we stop for some reason."
|
"Alright." Belle nodded, keeping that in mind, and settled in for the ride, all the while hoping he hadn't put trackers on any of them or had a dragon of his own. She doubted it, but one could never be too careful.
|
Andy made herself comfortable against Sess, knowing he wasn't about to let her go. She could tell he had been frantic over her, because she'd felt the same way, especially during the distance testing.
"Note to self," she murmured softly, almost to herself, "never let you get too far away from me again." She heard him chuckle softly and knew he heard her. |
Belle stayed silent for the entire trip. Only once Temeraire had landed did she turn and look at Eclipse to make sure he was alright. Apart from being a little more pale than normal he was fine, and he slid down to the ground first before holding out his hands for her to join him. She slid down after him with a little grin.
"Come on, Seth, Andy. Last leg of this is on foot." |
