"Yeah, that's a clarinet," Andy pointed out. "Instruments can go way outside of human vocal range. I'm just glad I can reach that A, I'm not about to try to go too far past it."
"It depends on the instrument," Belle said shaking her head a bit. "Let me put it this way. Generally, the only people who hit notes that high, are professional musicians or professionally-trained musicians who are music majors or whatever."
"And I was neither," Andy said. She shrugged. "It's alright, though. I'm probably horribly out of practice by now, and I was never classically trained to begin with."
"Bah, who cares? If it's fun and you like doing it, go for it." Belle grinned.
"So says the one with the clarinet," Andy replied. She grinned. "I bet my music people could beat up your music people." Alright, she couldn't help that little joke.
"Ha! I don't think so," Belle said with a grin. "We marched. Ever tried marching?"
"I am not ashamed to say that I have not," Andy replied promptly. "Band was never my thing. One year, and I quit."
"Well marching with an instrument trumps all, therefore we marching band people kick ass and rule the world. So thppt!" Belle leaned back against Eclipse. Said bishi adopted a very martyred expression, as if to ask "is my trainer REALLY that mature? REALLY?"
"Actually..." Andy started. "Theater people trump all. Singing, dancing, and remembering lines all at the same time." She grinned. "A friend of mine was a rather impressive stage manager. It was kind of scary."
Belle snorted. "I don't think they do, and I know several theater people. Or I did, anyway."
"I knew some theater people, too," Andy replied. She rolled her eyes. "They were all bizarre, and not like we all are."
"I know I'm weird. I proudly admit that," Belle said with a grin.
"Only you would say that so proudly," Lucifer said with a snort. "Well you'd know something about pride, wouldn't you?" Belle shot back. Lucifer glowered at her before sulking off. |
Even Andy could tell he was just asking for that one. She cuddled back into Sess's arms, comfortable.
"If we weren't weird, we wouldn't be here," she pointed out. |
"True enough." Belle yawned briefly and settled in there. "So, now that we've missed the last half of Phantom, you want to watch another movie? Maybe we can move the beds and set up a space on the floor, get some dinner and make a whole thing of it. And then get popcorn later."
"That involves way too much effort," Andy replied. She glanced out the window at the rain. "I should probably go check on my dragons soon. Neither of them like the rain much."
"Tell you what. You go check on your dragons, and I'll send out Ash and D to go get us dinner. The rest of us will set up the room." Belle got up, moving over to Acheron and D'Alerian. She handed some money to Ash, glancing at Lucifer and the others before shooing the two gods on their way.
"Alright," Andy said. "I'll take Sess with me, but any of the others are fair game if you need entra hands, except maybe Tia. She's badass, but I doubt anyone can make her move furniture." She got up as she spoke and rummaged through her bag for her hoodie. It would be waterproof enough for the short walk outside.
"Sounds good to me." Belle grinned and turned, looking at the room for a few moments with her eyes slightly narrowed. Then she started ordering the bishis around, pulling out blankets and pillows and things from her bag to make the floor into a giant comfy fort.
Andy and Sess went outside into the rain. Andy could already hear faint rumblings that sounded suspiciously like speech in the distance.
"Temeraire is complaining," Sess said shortly. It was obvious he didn't like the rain, either, but at least he had a jacket with a hood. "I'm not surprised," Andy replied. The walk to the dragons was relatively short, and Andy could easily hear Temeriare's whining. "Oh hush, you big lizard," she called up to him teasingly. "The rain won't hurt you." "Please shut him up," Lien begged. "Else I might be tempted to shut him up myself." "I do not like the rain," Temeriare said stubbornly. "It is cold and uncomfortable and thoroughly miserable. I would much rather be in my ball than be out here in this." "Temmy, if they were working, you would be," Andy replied. "Trust me on that, you would be." |
Belle managed to get everything set up, making the center of the room very comfortable and pushing the two beds off to the side. Then she set out her movie selection and waited for everyone to get back.
After telling Temeraire a few more times to quit complaining and just hunker down for the night, Andy and Sess went back to the hotel. Both of their jackets were wet by then, so Andy was very glad to get back and get dry.
"Temmy is whining," she said when she and Sess got back into the room, "but that's not unusual. He's a pansy when it comes to rain. He likes swimming, but not being rained on." |
Belle snorted and settled down next to Eclipse on the floor, the various other bishis also ranging on the floor. "You wanna pick a movie or should I?" She looked up at Andy and Sess.
"You go ahead," Andy replied. "Unless, of course, we can somehow put together a Johnny Depp marathon or something," she added jokingly.
"Hey, that can be arranged," Belle said with a grin. "Or a Disney marathon." Several of her bishis groaned, and Eclipse merely smiled faintly.
"Oh good, someone else who never grew out of Disney," Andy said, half jokingly. She still loved Disney movies, since now she was actually old enough to catch all the litle jokes that were snuck in for the adults while still enjoying how cute and sweet they were.
