"Night," Belle said to everyone in general as the lights flicked off. A few of her bishis got up and moved into the next room so they could make a little more noise without fear of waking the trainers.
"Night," Andy replied. She snuggled in as Sess wrapped his arms around her. It didn't take her long to fall asleep.
The next morning Belle woke up before everyone else. She got up quietly and took a shower. By the time she got out she could see the clouds had cleared, at least partially, to allow weak sunlight to pervade the area. It was still wet, but not raining for the moment. People were setting out tarps and boards for everyone to walk on so mud wouldn't get all over the place.
Grinning, Belle went downstairs briefly to get a few plates of food from the free continental breakfast, bringing it all back upstairs and setting it on the table for people to eat once they got up. |
Andy wasn't necessarily an early riser, but she slept a little longer than Belle did. She woke up a few times throughout the morning, and finally decided to get up when one of her waking 'blips' brought with it the thought that she didn't hear it raining anymore. That thought led to the thought that she should probably check on Temeraire and Lien, and she gradually got up.
"Morning!" Belle said from the table, sipping her cup of coffee. "It's not raining, and it's sort of sunshine-y out there." She grinned as Acheron stole a donut. "And there's food."
"Oooh, I smell coffee," Andy said. That was more than enough to get her out of bed. "And it's not half-burnt crap Lucivar makes." She knew what that smelled like, and it wasn't all that pleasant.
"Yup, it's real coffee. I made it not even ten minutes ago." Belle grinned and got out another cup, setting it out for Andy.
"You're amazing," Andy said. Getting up, she went over and took the cup of coffee. It was actually good quality stuff, which surprised her from a hotel, and it was worlds better than the field-brewed stuff Lucivar made. Behind her, she heard Sess get up and start rummaging through her bag, most likely for his comb.
Belle finished her food quietly while Eclipse French-braided her hair. Then she got up, stretched, and started to round up all her bishis to decide who was going to be put on the metaphorical chopping block.
Once Andy was finished with her coffee, she showered and dressed before going to round up her bishies. While she wasn't exactly going to put them up for glomping, at least not immediately, she would feel better if she took them with her when she went to go listen to Temeraire whine about the rain the night before.
"Alright, shall we get going?" Belle grinned.
Andy nodded.
"Let's go," she said. "Temmy's going to whine about not being dry already..." She rolled her eyes. "Not that he hasn't been caught in the rain before." |
Belle snorted. "I think he just likes to complain." She grinned at Andy.
Andy shrugged.
"He's spoiled," she said, "they both are. Li Li is just more dignified about it. They'll be better once they can fly around a bit and dry their scales." |
"Sounds good." Belle made sure everyone was dressed. "Now, you want to head out?"
Andy looked at her own group to make sure they were all ready, and then nodded.
"We're set," she said. "I'm going to need to take the dragons out fishing so they're not complaining about being hungry later, but it shouldn't take long." |
"Sounds fine to me. Maybe these guys will decide to help." Belle shrugged and started herding people out the door.
"I think I'll be alright," Andy replied. She wasn't sure how far she would have to go to find a decent fishing spot for Temeraire and Lien, so it would probably be best to just have her own group with her. "I'll meet up with you when we get back."
"Alright. Well I think I'm going to test out my idea today, see how it goes. I'll let you know when you get back." Belle shrugged.
"I'm not sure whether sympathy or wishing you luck is the correct response," Andy said, grinning. "Either way, let me know what happens."
"I will. Same to you." Belle waved to her as they reached the door, starting to herd her boys over to a good location to set up and see how it went.
Andy took her own group out to where the dragons were. As they got closer, she heard the unmistakable sound of Temeraire complaining.
"Has anyone else dried yet? I cannoy understand why I haven't dried already..." There was a sound of wings rustling up above the trees (Andy knew that sound by now) and almost instantly, there were water droplets falling from the sky. Andy covered her head as best she could until the water stopped falling. "Thanks, Temmy!" she yelled sarcastically. The complaining abruptly stopped. "Andrea?" "You'll dry quickly enough after a quick flight," she called up to him as she came out of the trees. She looked up at him. "Come on, let's go find a lake or something." |
Belle managed to get hold of a table, setting it up and putting up the sign she'd made saying "GLOMP A BISHI" before she organized her boys. For the first half hour almost no one stopped by. Then a few trainers tried, and soon she had a short line of people waiting. Her boys grumbled but didn't seem to mind too much, allowing themselves to be glomped.
Once Andy had managed to locate a lake and let her dragons go fishing, she had them land just outside of the town again. After she managed to convince Kaelas that he was, in fact, within reach of solid ground again, she gathered the rest of her group and went to find Belle. If nothing else, she could volunteer up Kaelas as a kind of 'Pet the Giant Kitty' thing.
Belle was still at her stand, making a mint by letting her bishis get glomped. They didn't seem to mind, especially since she rotated them around.
