Belle got there first and asked about prices, which were very reasonable. She nodded and looked back at Andy. "Do you want to share a room or shall we get two?"
"It's up to you," Andy replied. "Either is fine with me. I've got no issues with sharing a room, and it's not like neither of us haven't been on our own before." Pulling up her finance info on her bishidex, she checked her balance. "I mean, I can afford my own room if you'd rather have a room to yourself."
"Let's just share a room," Belle said with a shrug. "We can make some more money while we're in town." She turned to the lady behind the desk and got them one room to share, taking one of the keys and handing the other over to Andy.
Andy took the key and put it into her pocket.
"Once we're both showered, we can figure out what we'll do with the rest of the day," she said. |
Belle nodded. "We may actually have to fight a few people to get some money," she said with a little shrug. "That or see if anyone needs some extra help for a few days." She sank down onto one of the beds. "You can go ahead and shower first."
"I'm sure Lucivar wouldn't mind a good fight," Andy replied. "That, or Hiei or Sess. I wouldn't make anyone face Temmy or Li Li, they're just get smushed. You sure you don't want the shower first?" she added.
"Yeah, I'm sure. Go ahead." Belle smiled reassuringly at her, making shooing motions with her hands. "I'm gonna figure out what supplies we'll need when we take off again."
"Alright," Andy replied. Taking off her belt, she laid it on the bed and put her bag next to it. Stretching, she made her way to the bathroom. "I'll be out soon," she said.
"Don't worry about it," Belle said with a little grin. "Go on."
By the time Andy emerged again, Belle was deep in discussion with Eclipse, her Duo sitting next to her talking with them and writing things down. |
Andy came out of the bathroom again feeling much more refreshed than before. She didn't bother blow-drying her hair, since it would dry on its own soon enough.
"So what's the discussion about?" she asked as she sat down and dug her hair brush from her bag. Tugging it through her hair, she tried to work all the tangles out of it. |
"Supplies," Belle said, glancing over at Andy. "We're debating whether or not to get some soups and ramen and things like that."
"And where to do the dishes," Duo said with a big grin, waving at Andy. "Not to mention who gets washing duty." Belle grinned. "None of us, naturally." |
"Non-perishables are probably a good idea," Andy agreed. "Dishes won't be too much of a problem, though, since I usually try to stick close rivers or other sources of water. Easiest way to feed a dragon is to make him fish for himself, after all. I'll let oyu all duke it out over dish duty, though." She grinned and then tore at a big tangle in her hair. She was about to keep hacking at it when the brush was taken out of her hand.
"That isn't good for your hair," Sesshoumaru said as he turned her around and started to work on the tangles carefully. "I doubt my split ends care much," Andy pointed out. Sesshoumaru didn't reply, he just kept brushing her hair. |
Belle snickered before she stood. "I'm going to go shower now. Tell Lucifer that if he so much as thinks of walking in on me, he's dead. Even if it is an accident." She turned and headed into the bathroom, locking the door behind her.
Eclipse shook his head, rather amused, and shared a faint smile with Duo, who was grinning broadly. |
"I know I hear a story there," Andy commented, "but somehow I get the feeling it's best not to ask." Once Sesshoumaru got the last knot out of her hair, she took the brush back and dug out the comb.
"Alright," she said, "turn around. I know your hair got all messed up earlier." Once she was sitting behind him, she started to comb out his hair. |
Eclipse actually snickered. "The story is that Lucifer walked in on Belle taking a shower once, not knowing she was in there. She pelted him with everything she could get her hands on, while hiding behind the shower curtain, and he ended up falling in with her and she ran out wrapped in a towel leaving him tangled in the shower curtain being pelted with cold water. They didn't look at each other for a week."
Andy couldn't help it, she laughed.
"I guess I'm glad that's never happened to me," she said. "I don't think I would ever live it down if it did." She was glad her bishies were all either too polite or too stoic to do something like that. |
Eclipse chuckled quietly. "Yes, she still gets teased about that from time to time." He shook his head a little. "Speaking of, I think I shall assign Lucifer to dishwashing duty for a little while. He usually manages to slither his way out of it."
"I usually don't have a problem with dishes... Lawrence offers to do the dishes if he doesn't have to cook. And those rare times he DOES cook, I do the dishes myself," Andy replied. "It usually works itself out." She kept combing Sesshoumaru's hair as she talked, since it was something for her hands to do.
Eclipse shook his head. "Most of our group is either above doing dishes, too lazy to do them, or comes up with other various excuses to not do the dishes." He shrugged a bit. "Most of the time, anyway."
"Lawrence was a naval officer before Temeraire was put into harness," Andy said absently, practically summarizing the first chapter of His Majesty's Dragon. "I hear they're kind of sticklers about order, so it really doesn't surprise me much." She paused, blinking a bit. "And I think I've read that book too many times, if I can spit out information like that."
"I wouldn't be too concerned," Duo piped up. "Belle does that all the time. She'll ramble things off the top of her head without having to look them up. It's a little scary sometimes, actually."
"And you know, people used to look at me weird for doing that," Andy said, setting the comb aside. "Well, before I turned sixteen, anyways. After that it was kind of a moot point, since I was here, and apparently anyone worth their bishidex can do the same thing."
Duo nodded vigorously. "For at least one series," he agreed. "It's scary when she switches from topic to topic, or if you get her ranting about mythology. I mean, she's a walkin' encyclopedia when it comes to that stuff! She can stand there and spout off all this crap all day long if you give her the chance!"
A muffled "I heard that, Duo!" came from the bathroom. |
"That's nothing," Andy said. "Mythology is easy. I had like three quarters of the Greek stuff memorized by the time I was eleven. It's keeping the details of a series straight that's the hard part, especially if it's a long series." She grinned. "You shouldn't evesdrop, Belle!" she called to her friend, teasingly.
"Only when you're talking about me!" Belle called back, a grin clear in her voice. She emerged a few minutes later dressed in a plain black t-shirt that was too big for her and jean shorts that came down to her knees. "And it is harder to keep track of all the details of a series. Which is why you simply memorize it all."
Duo shook his head. "Sit, you brat," he said. "And I'll braid your hair while it's wet." Belle obediently sat in front of him, letting him brush and then French braid her hair, wincing only once. "You've just never tried it, Duo. It's not that hard to memorize it all once you've had practice." |
