"Damn taht idiot!" Kiara snarled. "Kallen, Suzaku's got Nunally and we can't get to Lelouch, Grab him!"
"On it!" Kallen replied over the channel. Just then Kiara saw teh Guren flying towards teh ship. From there she lost sight of the Guren as she turned ehr attention back tot he Mordred. The Tristin had joined it and she glared at the knightmare that she knew contained Gino. "Your call Rai," she said, looking towards the purple haired pilot. "Do you want me to blast him?" |
Raina hesitated. It had been so much easier to think of the Tristan as just a mindless Knightmare frame - to forget about the one controlling it. But now, when it came to the decision of whether or not to destroy it... All she could think of was Gino's smiling face. Don't be such an idiot, she scolded herself. You barely know him!
She was saved from having to decide though. While she hesitated Tristan, Mordred and Lancelot made their retreat, along with Guilford. And Nunnally. "Crap, I'm sorry Kiara." |
"It's alright," Kiara replied. "He's too close to the Lancelot now and I won't shoot anyway in case I hit Nunnally. Lelouch would kill me."
She toned down teh weapons, cooling the systems down but not switching them off entirely. They'd worked the Tenshi hard during this fight and if the enemy was fleeing there was no need to waste energy on teh weapons when they might not be fired again. "Kallen," she said into teh receiver. "Do you have Zero?" "Got him," Kallen replied. "We'll meet you back on the helicarrier." "Over and out." Kiara shut the channel and looked to Raina. "He's not going to be good after this," she predicted. "He really wanted her out of there and we couldn't do it." |
Raina pushed Gino from her thoughts again and bit her lip. "Yeah... Isn't Nunnally the reason he became Zero in the first place? To make a world where she could be safe, or something like that."
Would Lelouch be able to continue now? Fighting against the Britannian government in Japan now meant fighting against Nunnally. |
"We'll need to wait and see I supose," Kiara murmured. "Turn this thing around Rai. Let's get back to Lelouch before he does anything stupid. Hopefully C.C.'ll stop him before he does somethign too rash but you never know..."
This would definitely be a blow to Lelouch. How was he going to fight against Nunnally? The short answer was that he couldn't. She doubted that he would be able to bring himself to even if he wanted to. It just wans't in his nature. Nunnally was the one person he would never hurt. She blew out a long beath in annoyance. Well today had been a bad day all around it seemed. "What'll you do about Gino?" she asked, turning her attention back to immediate matters. |
Raina didn't look at her friend and faced straight ahead, steering them after the Guren.
"Well... Maybe I never have to see him again. We only met the once, at the party. Maybe he won't call. Especially since he's the third top Knight in Britannia, I'm sure he could get pretty much any girl he wants. He probably forgot all about me after he left the party." She still felt betrayed, although it wasn't really Gino's fault. He'd said he was a Knight, it was her fault for just thinking that was a line. He hadn't lied to her... And that just made her frustrated. Apart from getting the shiny new Knightmare, today had not exactly been her best day ever. |
Kiara somehow doubted that but decided tokeep her thoughts to herself. If the looks that her friend was getting from the blonde haired, blue eyed knight were anything to go by then there was no way he wouldn't call her at some point. He was just too interested. The two of them also seemed to be on the same wavelength, a miracle in and of itself when it came to Raina. It was a shame they were on oposite sides of this war but when it was all over...She pushed that thought away. They were no where near finished here and it wasn't right to be thinking about it, not when there was so much more to do and plan for.
When they were back in teh carrier and beside the Guren Kiara all but leapt out of the cocpit and made her way towars Lelouch who was being released from the grip of the Guren. She couldn't see his face under the mask but she was pretty sure that it wasn't calm. "Let's get you out of here," she suggested quietly, glancing around for C.C. and Kallen. The four of them would need to talk to Lelouch or at least get him thinking straight so he could plan their next move before he did anything stupid. |
Jumping down from the cockpit of the Tenshi, and joined Lelouch and Kiara. "We can still save her," said Raina softly so that the other Black Knights couldn't hear her. "We just gotta find a way into the government building in -"
"We cannot save someone who doesn't want to be saved." "Wait, what?" "She... Volunteered. She's not a political tool. She's our enemy." |
"Well Crap..." Kiara muttered. That about seemed to sum up the situation.
"She wants to continue Euphy's work," Lelouch continued. "She wants to make a Special Administrative Zone." "Damn it," Kiara cursed. She looked around before discretely pressing a hand to Lelouch's back and beginning to guide him out of the hanger. "Come on," she murmured to the group. "We'd better get out of here before certain ears start to listen in." Her head nodded in the direction of the ex Britannian reporter who was hovering nearby, peering at them curiously. The sooner they took this conversation where no one else could hear the better it would be. |
"Do you think he needs time alone?" Raina whispered. "I really don't know what to say..."
She had siblings, but they were Britannian and she never really spent time with them. It wasn't that they snubbed her, it's just that they were different, and so they never really interacted much with her. Raina couldn't begin to understand the bond between Lelouch and Nunnally; she could only see that it was tearing him apart. |
Kiara bit her lip in thought before shaking her head, unsure. "I think we should get him to C.C. and leave it to her to fix him," she whispered so taht Lelouch wouldn't hear her. She doubted he would take kindly to the idea that he needed to be 'fixed' like some broken puppet with its strings cut.
"Come on," she said, a bit louder to Lelouch. "Let's get you back to your room so you can start planning with C.C. and we can take it from there." Lelouch made no move to reply but did not resist as they gently guided him back to his room. C.C. was already there, waiting for them, and Kiara roughly shoved Lelouch into teh room while no one saw. "Good luck," she muttered to C.C. |
"He can't stay here though," Raina said softly to Kiara. "We have to get back to school. With Suzaku around..."
Now would not be the best time for Lelouch to have an unexplained absence from school. |
"Good point," Kiara muttered. "It'll take us a little bit to get back to shore so taht should give him some time to get a hold of himself. Once we reach land we can get back to Ashford and deal from there." If they could get back before Suzaku then hopefully Lelouch's absense wouldn't be noticed by the new knight of seven. He probably wouldn't be back for a while. He'd probably have to report to his superiors or something about rescuing the new governer and that could take some time knowing Britannian politics so they had a little time.
|
Although she was worried about Lelouch, Raina reflected that the mission could have gone worse. At least they got out alive and Lelouch hadn't done something stupid like revealing his identity to Nunnally. And Gino... no, she wouldn't think about Gino.
It wasn't long before the submarine took them to land, a short distance from the Academy. "Let's hurry back then before we're missed!" |
Thankfully it didnt take them long to reach the academy and they managed to do it before Suzaku arrived so all was well for the moment. Kiara was hiding out in Rolo and Lelouch's rooms still but that just meant she coud keep an eye on the exiled prince and make sure he didn't do anything too stupid when he wasn't in class.
"What do you think he'll do about the new SAZ?" she asked, suddenly. "I mean he won't want to go against Nunnally but it won't work and we all know it, not after last time with Euphemia and the massacre." Okay it had techncially been Lelouch's fault that that happened when he lost control of his geass but as far as the public was aware it had all been Euphemia and that would stain anything Nunnally tried to do and taint it with the past. |
Raina sighed. "I don't know. He's the tactical mastermind."
Suddenly the phone rang. Raina sprang towards it and answered. "Lelouch Lamperouge's laundry service, how can I help you?" |
((Where did that come from.....? Is this an extra bit or is this from the anime at this point?))
|
*i figured it could be Milly or Rivalz telling us to go to the auditorium to see Nunnally's speech thingy*
|
((Ah, okay.))
"You and Lelouch need to get down here," Milly's excited voice came through the receiver, loud enough for Kiara to hear from where she stood on the other side of the table. "Bring Rolo too, it's important? The new govener of Area eleven is making a speech and it's manditory viewing!" Milly hung up before Raina had a chance to reply and Kiara raised an eyebrow. "Well Nunnally isn't awsting time is she?" Kiara commented, staring at the phone. It hadn't taken the young princess long to address the people. "Well looks like we'd better get Lelouch and head out..." Only she wouldnt' be able to. She was too recognisable. Unless...she'd left that wig around here somewhere. She quickly ran and grabbed it, discarding her black knight's coat so she was just wearing a dark blue tank top and the black shorts with teh boots. She frowned. She didn't exactly blend in... "Rai, can I borrow your jacket?" she asked, turning to her friend. |
"Sure," said Raina, shrugging it off and handing it over.
"You two head down," said Rolo. "I'll bring Brother." "OK, Rolo." She ruffled his hair, as she'd been doing almost every day for the past year. It was a bit weird now that she knew that Rolo wasn't Lelouch's real brother, but his personality hadn't changed at all. "Let's go Ki-chan. We should really get a mask for you or something." |
"The wig and contacts will do for now," Kiara assured her friend. "I won't actually sit with the student council but I'll be near enough to hear you talk." SH eslipped in the brown contacts from a few days ago, wincing slightly as she put the things in her eyes. She hated doing it but it was better than being recognised. Once the wig and jacket were in place she looked pretty much like a student and no one should look twice at her.
Soon they were out and watching teh large screen, waiting for Nunnally to make her announcement. Lelouch and Rolo had joined the other student council members and Kiara had seated herself a few paces away but still close enough to react if anything happened. Suzaku was with them now and she made sure not to look directly at him just in case he looked back and recognised her. She acted as casual as possible, leaning back and resting her head against her arms behind her head. |
Everyone seemed rather surprised at the new Governor. She was definitely a big change after Calares and Clovis - the sweet looking blind girl in a wheelchair.
Raina risked a glance at Lelouch. His face was impassive, but she knew that he was hiding how he was feeling inside. She felt a twinge of sympathy. Everyone collectively gasped when Nunnally mentioned the SAZ. Nobody dared speak of it nowadays, after what happened with Euphemia. Raina looked again at Lelouch. He was walking out the door. |
As casually as possible Kiara stood up and made her way away from the others, following Lelouch. She cast a subtle glance at Raina, silently saying that she should follow when she got the chance before xiting discretely and catching up with Lelouch. He was away from where prying eyes could see but he seemed not to have lost it yet so taht was a good sign. Hopefully C.C. had managed to talk some sense into him earlier.
"You'll come up with something," she reassured. "You always do and me and Raina will follow you through it." Throughout this whoel thing teh only epople that had been completely loyal to Lelouch had been her, Raina and C.C. Even kallen had abandoned him for a while after finding out who he really was so they needed to stick close to him now to make sure he didn't break. |
"Hey, where'd Lelouch go?" whispered Rivalz.
"Toilet," said Raina. "I don't think he's feeling very well." "Think it's contagious?" "Quite possibly." |
"Come on," Kiara murmured, glancing from Lelouch back to where they'd come from. "Let's get you back tot he student council before they think something's up."
((It's about now that Lelouch pretends to make a deal with Britannia for his exile right?)) |
