Naruto was glad that Sasuke decided to listen to him. He didn't want to have to worry about defending him and himself at the same time. He hit his horse on its rear end to get it out of the way. It neighed and took off running as the blond pulled blade from one of the pockets on his outfit. He kept his attention alert as he looked around for any sign of the enemy. Normally he wouldn't have sent the horse off like that, wanting a quick getaway, but it wasn't his horse to risk. Hinata would be the one in trouble if something were to happen to it.

Sasuke continued to ride hard towards the compound. Once he was there he hopped off of the horse and went on a search for Hinata. He relayed the message to her and what was happening right now, and soon Sasuke was surrounded by guards and soldiers that were going to be helping him. Running back to the stables he saddled up again and awaited the arrival of the other guards. As soon as they were mounted up as well they began running off in the same direction as Naruto was currently. "We're coming Naruto," thought Sasuke as he continued to ride hard.

Naruto was surprised, to say the least, when about 10 guys came out of the woods. He was also relieved that it wasn't the Akatsuki attacking. He defended most of the attacks against him easily enough, but there were some that got through. Not to mention him preventing any of the men from slipping past him and going after his prince. That was probably the hardest part. But the blond did manage to get 4 of the men down and seriously wounded by the time he heard the sound of horses approaching. Relief washed through him when he recognized some of Hinata's guards and the men who attacked him took of running.

Sasuke continued to ride hard until he got to the clearing where he had left Naruto. He heard fighting and he kicked the side of his horse lightly to get it to go faster. "We're almost there, Naruto," thought Sasuke as he came to the crest of a hill and saw Naruto fighting off some of the men. He didn't recognize any of them, but as soon as they saw him and the Hinata's guards they went running away somewhere. Running his horse up to Naruto he quickly jumped off of his horse and went running up to Naruto. Sasuke looked at his blonde friend and said,"Naruto. Naruto, are you alright?" He began leading the other male towards his horse as he continued by saying," Come on we need to get you back to the compound to get your injuries looked at."

Naruto blinked a few times, confused as to why Sasuke was there. Hadn't he said go to Hinata's? The blond didn't want to risk him getting hurt. It took a few seconds before he realized that his prince was speaking to him and that he was being led to a horse. He shook his head slowly. "I don't need looked at." he said. "I'm fine." And he was. It's true that he's been seriously injured in the fight, but he felt fine. He was walking fine and nothing felt broken, which was always a good sign. Besides, he's such a fast healer, he estimated he'll be completely fine by dinner that night.

Sasuke looked at the blonde noticed that there was a rather deep wound that was leaking blood. "I know you say that you are fine, but please let me do this. We have to get you back to the compound anyway. Also it will give the medic-nins something to do since they are always on duty anyway." Sasuke had no idea what he was talking about, but he figured that if he argued his case then the blonde would go and get some medical attention. Walking them over to his horse he looked at him and said,"Can you get on the horse?"

Naruto frowned lightly. He hated having medics looking after him when he was perfectly capable of doing it himself. He sighed though, not wanting to upset Sasuke anymore than he already was. So he nodded as they stood by the horse. "Yeah... I can get on the horse." he said. He paused for just a second more before pulling himself up onto the horse. He grew light-headed for a second, but the moment passed quickly so he didn't worry about it.

Sasuke was glad that the blonde had enough strength to get onto the horse in front of him. He was a little worried though when he saw a glazed look flash over the blonde's eyes. He decided not to press the matter though when he saw the look go away. He was probably just fatigued from the fighting. Hell, who wouldn't be? Once Naruto was on the horse he took the horse by the reigns and then began leading it back to Hinata's complex where there were medical ninjas waiting to treat Naruto and the other members of the search/rescue party.

Even though Naruto would never admit it, he was actually kind of relieved when the horse started moving towards Hinata's complex. He was still so light-headed and dizzy that it took all his focus not to fall off the horse. And even though his wounds had already healed a good deal by the time that they got back, he still let the medics take a look at him. After all, that was their job and besides, he didn't want Sasuke to worry. Plus, he only had to wait around 10 minutes until they were done looking him over anyway.

Sasuke continued the rest of the way to Hinata's compound where they were immediately seen by medical ninjas that were waiting for them to arrive."Please follow us this way," said the medical ninja. Sasuke followed the medical ninjas into an examination room where they began looking over him and Naruto. Glancing at Naruto he smiled at him and said,"I am glad that you are getting looked at."

Naruto was kind of hesitant to go with the medic ninjas. After all, he didn't feel like he needed to be checked out. But Sasuke seemed to think that he did, so he was going to in order to make his prince happy. He sat perfectly still as the medic looked over him. The blond glanced at Sasuke from the corner of his eye and smiled. "You don't need to worry. I'm fine." he said. Right after he said that, the medic finished looking over him and smiled lightly, agreeing with what he said. She grabbed a washcloth to wash the blood off the blond's body and said that they both could go.

Sasuke continued to wait for the blonde. Glancing over he nodded at the blonde. "I am glad that you are alright," said Sasuke as he smiled at him. "I don't know what I would do if you got hurt. I lo-." Sasuke immediately turned red and walked out of the infirmary. He had almost told the blonde that he was in love with him, and that was something that he didn't want to do. He didn't want to admit it to himself that he cared for the blonde that much. Walking down the hallway he walked into one of the garden courtyards where he went to go and sit at the fountain.

Naruto frowned when Sasuke walked away. What had he been about to say? Lo....Lo... Love possibly? He shook his head quickly. That couldn't possibly be what Sasuke had been about to say. There was no way that he could love the blond.... But he was blushing when he left the room.... The blond really wanted to go ask him about it, but he couldn't bring himself to. Why couldn't he make himself move?! He sighed and finally managed to make his body move and he started after his prince.
Hinata had been passing by the courtyard when she seen Sasuke come out, looking flustered. She tilted her head curiously, wondering what could possibly be bothering him. So she took a deep breath and approached him. "Sasuke-san.. Are you alright?" she asked, concern showing in her voice. |
Sasuke looked down at the water in the basin of the fountain as he watched the ripples. They were pretty. He found himself smiling as if in happiness, even though his emotions were running around rampant in his mind. Glancing up he saw Hinata approaching him. She was asking him if he was alright. He felt his cheeks, and sure enough there were tears still there. Wiping them away quickly he looked at Hinata and smiled. "I guess everything is alright. I'm just worried about Naruto that's all," said Sasuke. He was worried about the blonde so it wasn't a complete lie, but he was lying to himself about the "love" thing.

Worry shot across Hinata's face. He was worried about Naruto? And he was crying, so the worst possible scenario ran through her mind. Had the blond been killed? Is he crippled? Is he overcome with sickness? Fear twisted up in her stomach, wanting to know what happened to him, but finding it hard to ask. She took a deep breath to calm her nerves and trying, and failing, to get the worry off her face. "Is he alright?" she asked in a mainly calm voice.

Sasuke looked at the woman and smiled. She was radiating off concern, and it wanted to make him cry again. He was glad that there were people that loved Naruto as much as he did. "No, no. He is fine. The medical ninjas are looking at him right now, and from what I said before I left he should be heading in this general direction."

Hinata breathed a sigh of relief. Sasuke really should have started off with saying that there was nothing wrong with Naruto. It would have saved her from feeling so much worry in just a matter of seconds. "That's a relief." she said.
Naruto was coming out into the courtyard about this time. He spotted Hinata and Sasuke together and a small smile formed on his face. When he approached, she hugged him quickly before stepping back, very clearly embarrassed. "I'm sorry.." she said, dropping her gaze quickly down to the ground. The blond shook his head. "Don't worry about it." he said, patting Hinata lightly on the head. "Do you mind if I have a moment alone with Sasuke?" he asked. She nodded and smiled lightly at the both of them before turning and walking off. Naruto was silent for a moment before looking at Sasuke. "Hey... What were you about to say earlier?" he asked. |
Sasuke heard the blonde come walking over even before he actual saw him. He saw the two of them embrace and he had to avert his eyes. He knew that if he had seen them hugging then he would get angry. He didn't see it, but he knew what the had done, and it made him feel rather foolish that he was getting upset about something so juvenile. Sasuke watched as he saw Hinata go walking away, leaving the two of them alone. Now that they were alone, Sasuke wished that she was back. Turning to Naruto he smiled when he heard the question. There were two routes that he could go about saying something about this. He could lie, or pretend that he didn't understand what the other male was saying. He didn't know which was worse lying or pretending to be dumb, which were the same thing in his mind. "What are you talking about?" asked Sasuke clearly taking the eviler of the two paths. He didn't know what to do. He couldn't love the blonde, right?

Naruto frowned for a second. There was no way Sasuke didn't know what he was talking about. So he was playing dumb... But why? Was the prince really going to say that he loved the blond?... Is that why? He didn't want to love him? That made a sinking feeling grow in his stomach. Did he want to marry someone who didn't love him? Was it worth it? The only thing that would happen is that Sasuke wouldn't have to marry Orochimaru... But the blond really didn't want to get stuck in a loveless marriage when he could be with someone who actually wants to be with him. He pushed the uncomfortable feeling aside and put a neutral look on his face. "You know.. You were talking and you said 'I lo-'. What were you going to say?" he asked, crossing his arms.

Sasuke knew immediately that Naruto had caught onto his bluff. He turned his back to the blonde. Not because he was mad at him, but because he knew that there was a deep blush on his face. He also knew that he was about to start crying, he could feel that there were tears brimming at the corners of his eyes. "Naruto," said Sasuke quietly. [B]"I did say that I love you. I am just frightened is all. I was so close to losing you early today, and I don't know what I would do if that time ever came. He tried not stutter through his words, but he wasn't about to turn around and hug the blonde. He still did have some of that Uchiha pride left, and that was what kept him from turning around.

Naruto frowned lightly when Sasuke turned his back. So he had been playing dumb? Why would he do that? The sinking feeling in the blond's stomach came back, stronger than ever and he dropped his gaze to the ground. But when he heard what Sasuke actually said, it made him lift his gaze to look at the back of his prince's head. The feeling in his stomach vanished completely and a small smile made its way onto his face. Naruto took a step forward and wrapped his arms securely around Sasuke, pulling him into a hug. "You don't have to worry. I am never going to let myself be killed." he said, his voice quiet. "Besides, it's not that easy to kill me. I'm a strong fighter."

Sasuke continued to keep his back turned to his blonde lover, no his fiancee. They had agreed to get married after all. He gasped a little bit as he felt arms curling around him, but then immediately snuggled into his embrace when he knew that it was Naruto. Turning around in the blonde's arms he looked at the blonde and smiled at him as he bent up to kiss him lightly on the cheek. "I should have known better," he whispered. "I know you are a strong fighter." He leaned in closer again and hugged Naruto back, just wanting to be held.

Naruto smiled lightly when Sasuke had turned around in his arms. There had been a part of him that thought that his prince was going to push him away. He was glad that didn't happen. The blond slightly tightened his hold on the other, loving having him so close to him. "Don't you ever forget it." he said, his tone taking on a confident edge. "I will always be around to protect you." he muttered, knowing for a fact that he was never going to let anything happen to the one he loved. He would not allow himself to die. He just couldn't.

Sasuke let out a small gasp when he felt the blonde tighten his grip on him. He snuggled deeper into the blonde's arms though when he heard him say that there was nothing that was going to happen to him that would hinder him from protecting him. He smiled as he leaned up to the blonde again and pecked him quickly on the cheek. Leaning away he blushed as he looked towards the ground. He knew that the were fiancée with one another, and they were due to be married, whenever that time came, but he still could not bring himself to look at Naruto without blushing.

Naruto couldn't stop the smile from forming on his face. He loved seeing Sasuke so bashful and shy. It was quite cute. He took a step back away from his fiance to get a better look at his face. "You know... You really are very cute when you blush." he said, lightly grabbing hold of Sasuke's chin to turn his attention to the blond. "You should do it more often." His voice had a teasing tone to it, but for the most part, he was being serious.
