Naruto sat in the water for a moment longer before standing as well and stepping out of the water. He's been in the water long enough so that he was relaxed. He ran his hands through his hair to get out excess water out of it before grabbing his towel and wrapping it around his waist. He grabbed his clothes, planning on getting dressed back at their room, and turned towards Sasuke. "Ready to head back?" he asked.

Sasuke looked at Naruto and smiled as he nodded. "You can stay here if you want to, you've done so much for me already," said Sasuke as he turned to Naruto. "I won't stray too far I promise." Sasuke turned and began to walk away down the hallway back to the room that they shared. He stopped in front of a vending machine wanting to get a cold drink, and deciding that he would come back once he was dressed in something else.
The other pair walked into the doors of the first inn that they came to. Walking to the front counter they looked at the woman there and the first one walked up as he said"I was wondering if we could rent a room for the night." The woman looked at the two men. She was just going to be surrounded with handsome men tonight wasn't she? Looking through the book that was sitting on the table behind the counter she saw there there was one empty room left, ironically next to the people that had previously reserved a room here."Yes, we do have spare room here,"said the woman as she led the pair to the room. Sasuke rounded the corner and saw a woman coming down with two men. Glancing up sasuke smiled at the two men that were behind him trying to dissolve some of the tension that was there since they seemed to staring at him with much intent. As the two of them walked down the hallway behind the woman they saw their target walk down the hallway going the other way"That's our target," said Sasori to Deidara as they continued to walk down the hallway. They got into their room and closed the door as the woman bowed and walked away. Once inside their room they planned their next course of action. |
Naruto thought for a moment, biting his lip. It would be very tempting to stay here in the hot spring and relax for a moment longer... But he really didn't want to leave Sasuke alone in case the enemy showed up. He decided to just leave the hot spring and headed down the hall towards their room. He froze though for about half-a-second when he seen the two men in the hallway, following the woman who showed him their room. He didn't know what it was, but there was something definitely off about those two... Naruto sped up his walking towards their room and dressed quickly when he was back. "We have a problem." he said, looking over at Sasuke, pulling his clothes on.

Sasuke looked up from his sitting position on the bed as he looked at the blonde and gave him a questioning look. "What's wrong?" asked Sasuke as he raised an eyebrow at what the blonde was doing. "Why are you putting clothes on it's fine. We're safe here."

Naruto shook his head. "I don't think we're as safe here as I originally thought." he said, his mind racing. He had to get Sasuke out of here. There was most definitely something off about those two men and he needed to protect Sasuke. But if they left now, it would look suspicious... "I need to get you out of here and I think I know the perfect place for you to go. But you need to leave now before those men get us."

Sasuke rolled his eyes as he managed to get out of bed. He was really relaxed, and he just wanted to sleep. Sasuke managed to get his clothing on his body as he made sure that he had everything that he initially had come in with. "Ready," said Sasuke. "Even though I don't see what the ru-" There was suddenly a knock on the door and Sasuke stiffened. |

Naruto froze as well at the knock on the door. This wasn't good.. The blond bit his lip for a second, trying to think of what to do. "Go hide somewhere and I'll answer the door." he said, making sure his voice was down low enough that whoever was at the door couldn't hear him. He hoped that it was just the hostess of the inn and not who he thought it was. |

Sasuke hid behind the door to the bathroom area as he crouched down low behind a plant that had been placed there for decoration. His nerves were on edge again as he stared out in between the leaves that were kind of obstructing his view. He waited for Naruto to open the door as he held his breath. |

Naruto glanced at Sasuke as he stood in front of the door and was glad to see that he was out of sight. He took a deep breath before putting a calm look on his face. There was no need for whoever it was at the door to see how startled he was at the knock. He paused for only a moment longer before he opened the door. "Can I help you?" he asked, very tense and ready to defend himself if necessary. |
The hostess looked at the two of them from the other side of the door as she smiled at the two of them. She raised an eyebrow when she noticed Sasuke hiding behind the plant by the door. Had the blonde in front of her not been so tense it might have been laughable, possibly even comical."I do not mean to intrude, but dinner is being served in the main dining area if you want to come and eat. Dinner will only be available until 9 o'clock." With that being said she bowed and went down the hallway to tell the other patrons the same thing that she told them.
Sasuke, who had come out from his hiding place, looked at the blonde and said,"Well that was a relief. I thought we would need to move again." Sasuke was a little on edge still, but then laughed when his stomach growled loudly. "I guess I am kind of hungry." The hostess continued walking down the hallway as she came to the room of Deidara and Sasori. She knocked on the door, but there was no answer. She knocked again, but still there was no answer. She figured that the pair of them had gone to their famous hot springs in the back, and that they would figure out that dinner was to be served later that evening. |
Naruto relaxed only a little when he seen it was just the hostess. But since he was sure that the enemy was staying in this inn, there was absolutely no way he'd be able to relax now. He closed the door when the hostess walked away and turned to look at Sasuke. He thought for a moment. He knew it would be best if they just left now, but knew that they'd be able to move faster if they had some food in their stomach. "Alright.. We'll eat first, but then we really have to get you out of here." he said, planning to be on red-alert throughout the whole meal.

Sasuke shot Naruto a look but then it softened, when he knew that the blonde was only caring about him. "Alright," said Sasuke as he walked up the blonde and hugged him. Pulling away he looked at him and smiled. "Thank you for caring so much about me." He took Naruto's hand as he went towards the door. "Come on lets go to the dining room. I am starving."

Naruto was surprised by the look Sasuke gave him, but he said nothing about it. He was also surprised by the hug he received. As far as he knew, Sasuke wasn't a very touchy person.. But he wasn't complaining about it. When the blond's hand was taken though, he pulled it out of Sasuke's grip. He honestly wouldn't have minded holding his hand, but he needed both hands free in case they were attacked. "Alright. Let's go!" he exclaimed, starting to feel hungry himself.

Sasuke nodded as he continued to walk down the hallway with Naruto's hand in his own. The smell of fresh rice wafted through the air and he knew that he was heading towards the right place. Rounding the corner he saw people there already and he got into the line where the food was being served. He got a bowl of white rice and some miso soup before sitting down at the a nearby table. He waited for Naruto to join him.

Naruto followed Sasuke to the line for the food after his gaze swept over the people in the room, looking for the two men that he had seen earlier. He was relived to see that they weren't in here, but he didn't relax as he got some rice and soup as well. The smell of food twisted the blond's stomach, making it ache with hunger and he sat down next to Sasuke, eager to start eating. But despite that, he never once dropped his guard.

Sasuke began eating when he saw Naruto sit down next to him. He took a sip of the soup and ate some rice quietly as he looked at Naruto through the steam laden air. "Naruto," started Sasuke. "Where will we go from here? We can't run away forever, you know that, right?" He had only been running for a few days now, but he was already sick of it. It couldn't have been good for either of their nerves, especially Naruto's who was always on edge. He decided that night that he would sneak out on his own to end this game of cat and mouse. Taking another sip of soup he smiled as he loved the salty taste of the miso and the silky blocks of tofu.

Naruto sighed. "I know.. I have a friend near here who has a lot of guards at her place. She won't mind protecting us." he said. He took a bit of his rice and found that it didn't settle well in his stomach. He knew that was more than likely because of his nerves. He wasn't going to relax until he knew for a fact that Sasuke was safe and he hoped that once they got to Hinata's, that she'd be able to protect them for a time. After all, her guards are the best that money could buy. So they should be safe for awhile.

Sasuke contemplated what the blonde was saying as he went to go and deposit his dirty dishes in the bins that were on the tables by the food. Coming back to the table he looked at the blonde and said,"If you think that I will be safe there then we should head there." Sasuke felt completely guilty for sounding so enthusiastic when he was going to be doing the exact opposite come later that night. He was sad that the blonde had done so much for him, and this was how he was going to be repaying him. "I think I am going to head off to bed," said Sasuke as he got up from his chair as he went out the door. Getting to the room he decided that he would stay near the bed by the door so he didn't have to cross over the blonde when he was sleeping. He could leave quietly.

Naruto frowned lightly. Why was Sasuke going to bed? Did he not just hear him say that they needed to leave immediately? He sighed as he deposited his dirty dishes in the bin and followed after him. He figured they might as well stay a little longer. Naruto would just have to stay up all night to protect Sasuke. Once they got back to the room, the blond looked at Sasuke. "Okay.. We'll stay tonight but we need to leave in the morning." he said, sitting down on the free bed. He laid back against the bed and crossed his arms under his head, using them as a makeshift pillow.

Sasuke watched the blonde enter the room a slight look of irritation on his face. Sasuke looked down and noticed that he was kneading the sheets together to the point that they were all twisted. Getting into the futon he looked at the blonde noticing that he could see that he was still tense. Hopefully he would go to sleep. He reached over and turned the lights off as he went back to lying in the bed again.
He had to have waited there for at least a few hours as he pretended to sleep. Getting out of the bed he tried to be as silent as possible as he made his way to the door. He turned the handle of the door tentatively as it squeaked. He froze stopping where he was. |
Naruto had started to doze off as time passed and he struggled to keep his eyes open. They slowly slid shut though and he started drifting off to sleep when a squeaking noise brought him back to attention. He sat up quickly and instantly looked over to where Sasuke was supposed to be lying. When he wasn't there, he looked around quickly, worry showing on his face. He breathed a sigh of relief when he seen that Sasuke was still in the room. "Where are you going?" he asked, standing up from the futon.

Sasuke turned around with a start as he noticed that the blonde on the futon was awake and looking at him. Turning around to face the door again he had to think on his feet and managed to blurt out ,"I am just going outside the door. I just want some fresh air. Go back to bed." Sasuke silently whiled Naruto to listen to his internal pleading to stay on the futon, but he wasn't so sure that the blonde was going to comply with his wishes.

Naruto frowned lightly and shook his head. "Sorry. Can't do that. What if you get attacked when I'm not around." he said. He would have loved to give Sasuke his privacy, but worry replaced that. He wouldn't be able to live with himself if something had happened to his friend while he wasn't there to protect him. He stood and walked over to Sasuke. "If you're stepping outside the door, I'm going to have to go with you."

Sasuke had two options right now either 1. He ran the heck away try to get as far as he could away from the blonde boy, or 2. stay in the room and figure out another way he would get back to the castle. He just couldn't do it anymore. He didn't want the blonde to get hurt because of him. Sasuke would have felt so guilty if he had gotten hurt for his sake. Sasuke did what he thought was the better of the two and opened the door as he went running down the hall and out the door. He didn't know where the heck he was going, but all he knew was that he had to at least get out of the building first.

A confused look crossed Naruto's face when Sasuke took off running. Where was he going? He didn't think twice though before he started running after Sasuke. It wasn't long though before he caught up with him. The blond grabbed onto his arm, pulling him to a stop. "Where do you think you're going?" he asked. Was he trying to get himself killed? He didn't understand. Didn't Sasuke know that it was dangerous out here with no protection? |
