Margaret turned and started off towards the north gate of the city. It would take them a little while to get to Cerulean, but it would be worth it.
"You know, you probably wouldn't have too hard a time challenging Misty," she commented. "She runs Cerulean's gym. When I battled her, she used a Staryu and a Starmie. I bet your Jolteon could take them out easy." |
"Oh yeah, that would be easy," Aleron said with a big grin. "I could take her. Tomorrow maybe."
"Sounds good to me," Margaret replied. "I think the only other thing about the city that would be interesting is that Bill has a cottage out on the cape." She glanced at Aleron. "You've heard of Bill, right? Famous pokemaniac researcher?"
"Yeah, I've heard of Bill. I think my parents met him once." Aleron shrugged.
"I tried to make my way to his cottage, once," Margaret said. "He wasn't around, though. Apparently, his family lives in Goldenrod, so he was visiting."
"Maybe he'll be around this time," Aleron said with a little shrug.
"Maybe," Margaret replied. "We'll see."
Aleron nodded and kept walking, just watching the city around them for now. She saw several people out and about with pokemon, and she grinned as she saw a few new ones.
Margaret waved away a Shuppet that darted out at them from an alley. Ghost-types always liked to try to scare people.
Aleron looked at the Shuppet and couldn't help but laugh a little. "Doesn't work on me," she informed it, watching it drift away rather pathetically. Shaking her head, she kept walking, amused.
"Personally, I think Shuppet are kind of cute," Margaret said as she watched the ghost-type vanish. "They aren't nearly as creepy as the Gastly family, or Duskull family." She grinned a bit. "I like Misdreavus, though, so I don't count them."
"I don't think they're scary," Aleron said. "I think they just have way too much fun trying to scare people. But Shuppets are cute."
"I just think they're a little creepy, that's all," Margaret replied. "Banettes are creepy, too. But Shuppets are cute, and Misdreavus are cute."
Aleron chuckled quietly but didn't comment, instead looking around at all the various pokemon. She decided she liked Saffron.
It didn't take all that long for them to reach the gate out of Saffron after that, and the guard waved them through without even really looking at them. Margaret was at ease now that she was back in Kanto. This was home.
Aleron continued looking around, noting the differences between Kanto and Johto, and the similarities. It wasn't all that different, really. Just different cities, a few different things, like Silph Co, and different routes.
The route between Saffron and Cerulean was a lot of grassland with a few trees here and there. It was easy to spot the more common pokemon native to Kanto running around, like Rattata and Pidgey. Here and there Margaret was able to spot the occasional Butterfree or Bellsprout. It was the most popular place for new trainers to get their first pokemon, at least this side of Mt. Moon.
Aleron looked around as well, keeping track of all the pokemon she'd spotted. She hadn't seen anything she wanted yet, but she was keeping her eyes open. Just in case.
They hadn't gotten to Cerulean when the sun started to set.
"We may as well stop for now," Margaret said. "We're about two thirds of the way there, so it shouldn't take too long to get there in the morning." |
Aleron nodded with a grin. "Awesome. Hey, maybe we'll run across that Houndour pack. Or they'll run across us, one or the other."
"Maybe," Margaret said. "Oddish come out at night around here, and I think there are some Zubat that roost in the trees that come out, too. And of course the usual Hoothoot and such."
"Yeah, that sounds pretty normal," Aleron agreed. "That's okay, though. Normal is good. Sometimes."
Margaret nodded.
"Normal is good," she agreed. "Come on, let's find a good spot to set up camp for the night." |
Aleron nodded her agreement and picked a spot just off the road where there wasn't much grass or anything. "Here good?" She couldn't see anywhere better, at least, and there wasn't a tree looming over them filled with Beedrills or anything of the sort.
"Looks fine to me," Margaret replied. She kicked a couple of rocks sticking out the ground, to make sure they weren't Geodudes or something like that, and nodded. "Looks good." Setting down her bag, she started to set up her tent.
