Aleron kept walking, just trying to relax and enjoy the walk for a little while. Thankfully nothing happened. At least not immediately.
The lack of immediate attention actually unnerved Margaret. One would think that Moltres would have warned the others that a human still had one of the eggs... right?
Aleron looked up when she heard something around them. She looked around cautiously, frowning.
Margaret heard it, too, and glanced around. She wasn't sure what it was, and she wasn't sure she wanted to find out.
Aleron kept walking, deciding that getting away posed a better option than finding out whatever it was that made such an unhappy sound.
Margaret hesitated for a moment, and then followed Aleron. She really didn't want to be attacked, but somehow, she got the feeling that they were still being watched.
Aleron kept looking around but her pokemon seemed to be not too worried, not at the moment at least. Jolteon even went over and nudged Espeon again.
"Maybe we should just keep moving," Margaret said softly, adjusting her bag on her shoulders as her Espeon nuzzled Jolten again. "I'll feel better once we get to the next town."
Aleron nodded. "Same here," she said quietly. "We can stay there overnight. Just in case."
"Good plan," Margaret agreed.
Aleron sighed but kept walking, following the path towards the next town. She didn't see or hear anything else the rest of the day.
Margaret didn't see or hear anything, either, but she didn't relax until they got into Ecruteak. She still glanced warily up at Bell Tower, though.
Aleron ignored the Tower and headed for the pokemon center, so she could grab an empty cot.
Margaret followed her into the pokemon center. Once they were inside and had cots for the night, she let her pokemon out.
Aleron flopped down on a cot, relaxing. "Man, it feels good to be in town."
"Yes, yes it does," Margaret agreed as she set her bag down gently by her cot and opening it a little to check on the egg. She blinked when the egg shook a little bit.
Aleron froze when she saw that. She had seen enough eggs hatch to know what happened in the hours beforehand.
"Um. That's not good." |
"Let's hope it waits at least until tomorrow," Margaret replied. She took the egg out of her bag anyways.
"Yeah." Aleron sighed and shook her head, laying back down on her bed and watching the egg suspiciously.
Margaret settled in, as well. The egg shook a little once or twice before going still again.
Aleron sighed and decided to try to settle in for the night, relaxing on her cot.
Margaret gradually fell asleep. It seemed like she had only just gotten to sleep when Natu was jumping on her shoulder and chirping in her ear.
"What do you want?" Margaret muttered. Natu kept chirping at her. Margaret blinked. "What cold thing? What are you talking about?" She sat up, and immediately saw what was going on. Reaching over slowly, she shook Aleron. "You're going to want to see this one." |
Aleron woke up slowly, yawning a bit. Vulpix jumped on her and she let out a whuff of air, sitting up and rubbing her stomach. She stopped as soon as she saw the egg.
Margaret watched as the egg shook, and suddenly the shell cracked and shattered. The young Suicune blinked, disoriented, and unfolded itself.
Aleron had to put a hand over her mouth to keep from 'aww'ing. The little pokemon was adorable! And disoriented and confused, as most newborns were. Her Vulpix went over cautiously to go offer comfort to the young one.
