Usami waited and braced himself for the onslaught from the brunette that he figured would be coming. He then opened his eyes though and gave the brunette a bewildered look when nothing came forth other than "I kind of figured." "What do you mean?" asked Usami. Sure he hadn't been the most discrete person in the entire world, but shouldn't the brunette be a little more emotional about what he had just heard? Maybe he was flattering himself for thinking that the brunette would be excited about practically being swooned over by Usami. "Is that your only reaction. I know there is something on your mind. Please tell me."
Misaki was silent for a long moment. How should he say this? Just straight out and say how he felt? Or try to be subtle? "Well... I'm not sure if I return your feelings or not yet." he said. Once the words were out of his mouth though, he realized how they sounded like it meant that there was the possibility that he might return them in the future. He hoped Usagi wouldn't take it that way.
Usami nodded as he listened to the brunette talk to him. So there was a chance that they could be together. Usami practically leaped for joy when he heard that. That meant that he had a chance with Misaki still. He hadn't screwed up so bad after all. Leaning over he grabbed the other male's chin as he pulled the brunette into a searing kiss. Breaking away from him he looked at him as he heard his own stomach growl. He looked sheepishly down at his stomach. "I guess I am hungry," said Usami as he looked a little embarrassed. "Come on let's go into the restaurant."
A dark blush spread across Misaki's face when he was kissed and he didn't even have the chance to react before Usagi had pulled away. He drew in a shaky breath and he nodded, fighting off the blush. "Alright. Let's go." He managed to get it gone by the time he stepped out of the car. He didn't understand why Usagi kissed him. After all, he never said whether or not if he returned the man's feelings.
Usami was not angry, he was more confused than anything else. He wanted to get more information out of the brunette but he didn't feel like he wanted to pry. He wanted to give Misaki enough space that he could feel comfortable while taking to him. Walking into the restaurant he waited for a waitress to seat him and Misaki.
Misaki remained quiet while they walked into the restaurant. He felt uncomfortable though. It was definitely a place he never would have gone to if he had the choice. It just looked like that type of place that normal people couldn't get into. The nervous feeling grew in his stomach as the waitress approached them and showed them to a booth and handed them both a menu after flashing a smile at Usagi.
Usami looked at the brunette in front of him knowing that the brunette was very nervous about being here. He leaned over the table and bent the menu down to the table as he took Misaki's hand in his own as he said,"Don't be nervous. I want you to enjoy this weekend." Usami knew that being in such a ritzy place was probably the last thing that the brunette wanted to do, but it was something that Misaki would have to get used to, or as used to it as possible, since it was a part of Usami's everyday life.
Misaki just about pulled his hand out of Usagi's grasp, but he stopped himself. He didn't want to do anything to early in the weekend to ruin the whole trip for the two of them. He put a smile on his face and he nodded. "I know. I'm trying to not be nervous, but it's hard." he admitted, keeping his gaze on the table for a second before his attention shifted to the menu. "What would you recommend we eat?"
Usami furrowed his brow as if he was in deep thought. "I wonder if there is anything to make him feel less nervous," thought Usami as he closed his eyes. "Misaki," said Usami as he gripped the brunette's hand a little tighter in a reassuring manner. "Is there anything that I can do personally or have done that would make you any less nervous?" Usami looked at the menu that he had discarded in place of Misaki's hand as he let go of Misaki's hand and then looked at the menu in front of him. "Hrm. I would recommend getting some ahi ahi tuna and some Chirashizushi*. It's rather good here."
((*Chirashizushi is a bowl of white rice with sashimi on top of it in different kinds of pieces. Sashimi is sliced raw fish. It's actually really good)). |
Misaki shook his head. There wasn't really anything Usagi could do to make him less uncomfortable than just leaving the restaurant. But the brunette couldn't bring himself to say that he didn't want to be there. "No. Not really. I'm fine." he said, smilig lightly. He dropped his gaze to the menu to look at what the older man had recommended. He did have to admit, it looked great. "Sounds good to me." he said.
((Yum~ I want to try it now!)) |
Usami nodded his head, but he knew that Misaki would talk about his insecurities when they were alone, or at least until the brunette felt more comfortable. Usami looked at the menu one more time before a waitress came back and looked at the two of them."Are you two ready to order your drinks and food?" asked the waitress as she looked at the two of them. "Misaki," said Usami. "Are you ready to order?"
Misaki glanced up at the waitress as she approached and his attention flickered down to the menu for a moment. "Yeah... That Chirashizushi sounds good." he said, his eyes scanning over the drink options quickly. "Water to drink please." He didn't want Usagi to spend too much money on him at the restaurant, knowing he'd feel bad if he did.
Usami nodded as he looked at the menu again deciding what he wanted. "I will also be having the Chirashizushi as well and a glass of water," said Usami to the waitress. She nodded as she looked at the two males and said,"Do you want anything else?"Usami shook his head as he looked at the brunette to see if he wanted anything else.
Misaki shook his head as well. He knew that even if this meal did not fill him up, he would not want more. He already wasn't comfortable with spending Usagi's money and getting more food would make the feeling worse. The brunette watched the waitress walk away before he turned his attention to the man in front of him. "So... What's your next book going to be aout?" he asked, curious.
The waitress nodded and then walked away to go and place their order in so they could get started on it. Usami thought for a moment, debating on whether he would tell the brunette in front of him if he was writing another BL novel. He was writing other novels as well. He cleared his throat as he looked at the brunette. "I am writing two biographies and a few other things on the side. Maybe, if you are interested you can read one of the biographies. I promise they won't be boring." Usami watched as the waitress came back as she placed a two glasses of water in front of them. "By the way I haven't asked in a while, but how is school going so far?"
Misaki was silent for a moment. Would he want to read one of Usagi's books? Well.. He would, but what if it was a BL and the older man was trying to get him to read it? But he was sure that he would do that. So he smiled lightly and nodded. "Yeah. I would like to read one." he said. And he would, once he wasn't busy with school work. Once the water was set in front of them, the brunette took a small drink of his water, looking down at the table. He thought for a moment before lifting his gaze to Usagi. "School's been going fine. Nothing is really going o right now since we're still so close to the beginning of the year."
Usami was overjoyed that the brunette in front of him wanted to read one of his books. He felt a sudden urge to finish his book immediately. His books nowadays were practically writing themselves. Usami nodded his head as he figured that that would be the answer that Misaki would have given him in regards to school. He decided to change the subject again, but keep it oriented to school as he said,"Well besides work, is there anything at school that you enjoy. Have you made any friends? How are your professors?"
Misaki thought for a moment, his gaze dropping again to his glass of water. It always was a habit of his to look down when he was thinking and he knew he needed to stop. And he was trying, but it was hard at times. "Well...." the brunette began, lifting his gaze once more. "I'm really enjoying my cooking class. My professors are nice enough." he said, a small smile forming on his face. "I think me and Sumi are friends.. I'm not sure though... But we hang out, so that's good enough for me."
Usami continued to listen to the brunette in front of him as he took another drink of water. He liked the fact that Misaki was loving the classes that he was in. He was even happier when he learned that cooking was one of his favorite classes. He was really good at what he did. He bristled a little bit and almost choked on the water that he was drinking when he heard him mention someone named Sumi. "Who is this?! he thought as he drank more water, trying not to choke on this water. "This is indeed a problem." He continued to drink his water as he listened. He placed his glass down as he looked at him and smiled. "I am glad that you are getting along with the other people in your class," said Usami as he looked at Misaki.
Concern washed over Misaki when he though that Usagi was choking on water. It passed quickly though when he saw that the older man appeared to be okay. Maybe he was just imagining the whole thing. The brunette put a smile on his face as he nodded. "Yeah. They're nice to me when you don't drive me to school." he said. The waitress came over with their food and she shot Usagi a flirty smile before she had to go help the next customer.
Usami nodded at what he heard from Misaki. He knew that with him driving the brunette to school that people would stay away from him, and from what he had just heard those things were really happening. He placed a concerned look on his face as he looked at Misaki as he said,"Wait what are you saying? Do you mean that when I drive you in my sportscar that people don't want to be near you? That is weird." He hoped that he was sounding sincere enough that Misaki wouldn't ask anything.
Misaki nodded, taking a bite of his food before lifting his gaze to look at Usagi. "Yeah. Sempai said that it was because they were nervous about approaching me because they thought that we were brothers or something like that. I told them that I was just staying with you while my brother was on his honeymoon." the brunette explained, taking a sip of his water. "After they heard that, they didn't seem to mind being around me as much." At least they weren't avoiding him any longer and he actually managed to speak to a few people for more than a few seconds at a time.
Usami listened to the brunette in front of him as he took a bite of his food. He couldn't even remember the last time that he had had authentic, decent sashimi and sushi. He smiled inwardly as he took another bite loving the taste of it. "Brothers, that's kind of funny," said Usami as he took another drink of his water. At least they stayed away from him. That was my goal, and my goal was reached." Glancing over at Misaki, Usami smiled and said,"Are you enjoying your food?"
Misaki smiled lightly at Usagi's comment about them being brothers. It really was kind of funny... They looked nothing alike. He dropped his gaze down to the table as he took another bite of his food. The brunette nodded his head slowly as he enjoyed the taste of it and raised his gaze to look at the man across from him. "Yes. It's very delicious." he said. He wished he knew how to make sushi like this. He was going to look up a recipe for it whenever they got back from the hot-spring.
Usami smiled more when he heard that the brunette liked what he was eating. Sushi and sashimi were typically an acquired taste, and a lot of people did not like eating it. "I am glad that you like what you are eating. They get all of their ingredients, or most of them, from the local markets near here. Usami ate more of his food as he glanced at his watch. They were in no particular rush or anything given where they were in regards to the hotspring, but they needed to get there remotely soon as well.
