Aleron blinked when Hiei joined them, but then she grinned. Well hey, the more on board the better. This crazy idea might just work, after all.
"Okay. So we're going to the place where this Dark Tournament was, Yue's going to throw around a lot of energy, and then we get a confession from the bad guy and get the mirror back." Sure, sounded like a perfectly sound plan to her. Okay, maybe not as neat and tidy as she'd like, but it was an idea, none the less. Any idea was good at this point. Suddenly another idea struck her. "Hey Hiei, your Jagan can kinda peek into a person's mind, right?" Hiei glared at her for a moment before nodding, rather grudgingly. "Under certain circumstances." "Why not try it on Kurama? If you can find out anything about this demon we'll be facing, that would be good. Not to mention you can look for any hints that he may have done this under duress." Aleron grinned at her own bit of brilliance. Again. Twice in one day was good. Maybe she should start demanding pay from Koenma. "Don't you think I would have tried that already if it would have worked?" Hiei snapped, briefly considering killing her for annoying him. But he didn't feel like going to jail today. "Kurama's mind is very complex, and getting into a simpleton's mind like Kuwabara's isn't easy." Aleron deflated a little, but then shrugged. "Okay, so we'll leave Kurama alone. That just means we can get it out of the demon." She shrugged, unconcerned, and turned to Koenma. "Alright, let's get going. Sooner we get this done with the sooner we can clear fox-boy's name." "I thought you detested altruism," Hiei snorted. "I do. I'm doing this for Yue," Aleron said with a shrug. "Besides, Kurama is a good person to work with, and I'd rather have the option available to me rather than having to break him out of jail to acquire his skills." She grinned briefly. |
"Fine!" Koenma finally exclaimed, seeing that no one was going to listen to his voice of reason, "I'll get you transported to the Dark Tournament grounds, but that's it- then it's all you!" As he spoke he snapped open a spiritual cell phone of his own and began punching in buttons- looking as if he was taking out his frustration on the electronic device from the force of his touch, "And just so we're clear, this had better work, otherwise I might have to send you guys to jail too!" He might have been the prince, but there was only so much his father would let him get away with before putting his foot down... And destroying the balance of nature for the sake of proving a demon of all creatures innocent was the sort of thing King Yamma would stomp on.... They were essentially counting on the king being merciful of the crazy plan worked. "Great. So we'll all be cozy in jail together." Yusuke shrugged, "Well, I knew I was gonna end up there someday... Though I'd hoped it'd be a couple more years at least!" He didn't sound like he was stressing out too much over it; if worst came to worst and they did end up in jail, well... A Jail break was something he'd known he was gonna end up doing too. It was just a bit sooner than planned, that's all. "I'm serious Yusuke!" Koenma snapped as a portal finally opened behind him, "You have to be careful! My father will not be so gracious to you if you screw up!" "Yeah yeah yeah..." Yusuke waved his hand as he marched through the portal, "Be a good boy- when am I not?" The prince only heaved an exasperated sigh in response. Kuwabara had been going back and forth with Hiei since the demon had called him a 'simpleton', but once the portal was opened he grinned stupidly and marched right though it, shouting "Hey Urameshi! You're not getting all the fun!" Obviously he'd missed Koenma's warnings as well. "I suppose breaking out of jail will be as difficult as this plan to get in is going to be...." Yue said thoughtfully with a smile at Aleron. "But I suppose your crazy human mind will come up with something then too!" She knew that she was causing a lot of trouble and felt bad about it, but she was grateful that the human was willing to help her. She had a lot of patience when she wanted to- because Yue knew that she caused the human a lot of stress on a daily basis with her knack for getting into things she shouldn't. "Thank you for all your help." She swished her tail, then after a worried glance back at the fox joined the others on the other side of the portal. |
Aleron just grinned and followed the others through the portal. What was the fun in life if you couldn't take a risk now and then? The portal shut behind her, and she looked around.
Nothing remained but ruins of the stadium, and she whistled lowly. "Well, looks like you lot have done your fair share of destroying stuff, too." She started walking around, getting a feel for the area, making a mental map of places that could be used, like a pile of rubble that could be used as a diversion or a hole someone could hide in if they had to. Hiei stayed back away from the others, though he too was smirking. Some of the rubble was because of him, and he wasn't about to say otherwise. Just because Sakyo had blown up everything else didn't mean he couldn't claim some of the rubble. "Well?" he asked after a few moments of silence, looking at Yue and Aleron. Aleron nodded to herself. "Okay. Yue, see how much energy you can get from the area. It doesn't look like there's anything native to the area, not really, so you don't need to worry about killing things. Just gather up as much energy as you can from the area here." As soon as Yue had started on that, she turned to the other three. "Now, you three need to find a place to hide. Keep low and out of sight." "Why?" Kuwabara demanded. "I can fight better than you can!" "Not really, and that's not the point," Aleron snapped. "Look, we've got to attract this demon here, not drive him off. If it's just Yue and I visible here, he'll get cocky and try to take us down to get the energy, I'm assuming. Then you three can jump into the fight once he's actually here. But I need you three to stay undetected until then. Okay?" Kuwabara grumbled but went to go find somewhere to hide for the time being. Hiei just flitted off and vanished into the rubble. Nodding her satisfaction, Aleron went over to Yue again. "Just tell me if and when you need more energy," she said quietly. "You can use what you want of mine. Just try not to drain me dry, alright?" She grinned at her friend. |
Yusuke made a couple of comments about the bossiness of women when Aleron told him to head for the hills, but he did as he was told; he headed for the stands- or what was left of them anyways- of the stadium. This place brought back a lot of memories, and as he peeked at the girls from his hiding spot he couldn't help but reminisce. This was where he had met Jin and Chu and the others.... It was where he'd defeated Tugoro... Thought that both Genkai and Kuwabara had died.... thought that Keiko wouldn't dump him after seeing him be so epically awesome.... He sighed inwardly. It was all in the past now.... He hadn't seen his demon friends in ages save for Kurama and Hiei and he was stronger than he'd ever been when he defeated Tugoro, Genkai and Kuwabara were in good health... And Keiko was out of the picture. Being back here made the detective feel like he was chasing a past that he didn't have access to anymore... It was kind of depressing.... he wished the girls would hurry up. As soon as she stepped through the portal Yue was blown away by the amount of energy she felt. There were so many different emotions that had been imprinted on the place, some good, some bad; there was good energy, and energy that was exceedingly dark too.... And death hung in the air very thickly- there was a lot of residual energy from that too. She'd have to remember to ask Yusuke and the others of this place and their experiences here; if the energy she felt was any clue, they must have been though quite a bit. At Aleron's okay, Yue began to draw in as much energy as she could. She'd originally planned to simply gather as much energy as she could in one spot, but there was so much chaos in the air here and so many different kinds of energy, that there was no way to control it unless she made her own body a conduit for the sake of not making any spontaneous explosions. In the back of her mind there was some fear over whether her body would be able to handle all the power, especially if the demon showed up and she had to fight, but she didn't give any sign of difficulty save fort he occasional twitch of her tail when she felt a jolt of pain. Her face remained perfectly calm and serene as she drew in as much energy as she could; slowly it became darker as she took in what gave the place spirit. The weeds that had begun to grow out of the rubble withered and died, slowly turning to dust along with the occasional patch of grass that had begun to grow. At this point Yue took in a little bit of Aleron's energy, but not too much; she wanted the girl to still be able to fight and at this point she felt like her insides were on fire from energy overload. A cold sweat broke out on her face as she kept all the energy where it was, taking in more when she could steel herself into accepting the pain without letting it show.... Yue hoped the one they were looking for showed up soon.... She couldn't take much more of this. |
It didn't take long for the demon to show up after that. Aleron had been right; all the power in the place was irresistable to him. He looked at the two, smirking, and started forward. They'd both been implanted already, so they would be no problem for him. And the sheer amount of power in the area was staggering.
"So," Aleron said conversationally. "Are you gonna hand over that mirror or am I going to have to break a few bones first?" She sounded perfectly pleasant, as if she were just inquiring over the weather. The demon laughed at her. "You won't be doing anything," he said with a sneer. "You or your demon friend." He started to pull in energy through the mirror, and colors played across the mirror; black and blue and green and red, and others, all swirling and mixing together, almost pulsing with life. "Thanks for showing me where to find the energy, toots." With another grin, the demon put his other hand in his pocket and pressed a button. Aleron paused as she felt something weird zing through her. The demon had pressed the button to activate her microchip, and the extra electric signals would set off the disease in Yue. Aleron gasped as her heart started to thud erratically, beating four times in quick succession before it stopped, beat once more weakly, and stalled. Going white with shock, Aleron managed to get off one shot at the demon, who held up the mirror. The energy blast hit and stuck, slowly diminishing into the mirror. And Aleron slipped, falling onto her back, unconscious as her heart struggled to overcome the disrupting signals in her body. |
Yue hadn't even noticed when the demon arrived at first because she was so concentrated on the energy and not losing control of it; she felt like her insides were on fire, and at this point was afraid that if she tried to get rid of it all at once she'd destroy herself, but if she kept holding it in the result would be the same.... She was scared, and it hurt so much that she wasn't thinking straight either. Only when Aleron began speaking did Yue comprehend that their foe had arrived; he must have used the mirror to absorb some of the energy, because she felt some of the pain of all the energy quickly fading away into a dull sort of numbness. She realized that he was taking away her energy along with what she'd absorbed, and briefly the fear of dying crossed her mind.... Then she saw him push some sort of strange button, and the last thing she comprehended was a strange flicker in Aleron's energy before it plummeted and became weak. The moment that happened, Yue felt like an earthquake had gone off inside her body; she thought that it had been painful before with the energy, but this was different. Worse. Before it had felt like her insides were burning, now it felt like they were being torn apart and mutated. She had a moment of sickness before she collapsed, unable to control as her body spasmed in pain. Yusuke watched from where he was in horror, but once he saw Aleron and Yue collapse, any thought of strategy or self preservation went out the window. The only thought on his mind was that if he didn't move NOW they were going to die. He had to get that remote. His mind went black as he flew at the demon, Mazaki form activated from the sheer rage that filled him; he punched the creature as hard as he could, eyes only on the switch that he held. {o-o hopefully that works!} |
((That works! ^^))
The demon flew back several feet, and he accidentally let go of the button and the remote it was on. He sat up slowly, pulling more energy through the mirror to aim a blast at Yusuke. Hiei attacked the demon first, his sword too fast to follow as he attacked, the demon blocking his attacks, but only just. He kept the mirror tucked in against his body, snarling. How dare these... these fools interrupt his plans? He growled and threw an energy attack at Hiei, who jumped out of the way before attacking again. Another energy blast forced him to jump away, barely getting out of the way in time. The demon grinned. He could keep them off for as long as he had to, and their energy attacks were useless against him. Aleron heart started to beat again, weakly, erratically. She took one small breath, then another. She stayed down though, just barely even conscious. She had no idea where she was, her mind too blurred and unfocused. ((Short post O.o)) |
"Hey Urameshi!" Kuwabara made a sloppy slash at the demon, who dodged rather easily but didn't look happy at the prospect of another opponent, "Don't you forget I'm here too!" Yusuke nodded at Kuwabara, then dove for the weird remote thing that the demon had used on Aleron and Yue; the others were holding off that demon, but they'd only last so long, he had to get the remote away from the guy while he could. He would have destroyed it, but his main line of focus was on the girls, and he moved towards them quickly. Yue was still twitching pretty badly, and he thought he might have caught a sob from her, but she was aware enough that she told him to go after Aleron first. So he did, wanting to make sure that she wasn't dead; kneeling next to her he lifted up her head just a little, so that she'd be able to know he was there. "Hey!" He exclaimed worriedly, "Can you hear me!?" He glanced over his shoulder at Hiei and Kuwabara- the demon was starting to get the upper hand against them. "C'mon, say something!" They had to get out of there- he didn't see how they were going to win with two down and two steadily losing- even with his Mazaki form, his energy had been drained that he didn't have enough confidence that he could really win even if he were to do something reckless like he normally did. Yue had still felt the throbbing even after the remote had been taken away from the demon, and even as it slowly faded away, the numbness that replaced it wasn't a good sign. She tried and failed a few times to get to her feet, but she was still twitching so sporadically that she never got very far before falling over. All in all though she was more worried about Aleron, for while Yue knew she herself was hurt, at least she was still alive... She'd seen Aleron fall last... She hoped Yusuke made sure she was all right. |
Hiei attacked the demon while Kuwabara distracted him, and he managed to slash the demon's arm. This would go much better if Yusuke was helping them take down this annoyance. But no, he was helping the two girls.
The demon laughed as he backed away from the two. "You're all just like your friend," he sneered. "Weak. Kurama was so easy to manipulate! All I had to do was threaten one of you and he stole this lovely mirror for me!" The demon laughed more while Kuwabara and Hiei both scowled, trying to figure out how to take him down or get the mirror away from him. Aleron managed to open her eyes blearily. Everything blurred, but a voice urged her to say something, to respond. She managed to focus on Yusuke. Huh. He looked worried. Why would he look so worried? She was fine, her heart was just being weird, that was all. She just needed to rest for a bit. It was hard work, after all, staying alive... "'m fine," she managed to rasp, her voice weak and shaky. "Go get 'em, 'suke." Her words slurred together, just a bit. her eyes drifted closed again and she slipped back into unconsciousness. But her heartbeat was stronger now, slowly becoming more regular, and her breathing evened out. |
Yue had managed to move over towards Aleron and Yusuke; she was still trembling like a leaf, and every couple of seconds a twitch still found it's way out, but she looked determined. Right now she was really numb and couldn't feel any sort of pain, possibly her body was in shock; as such though, she didn't feel as bad as she was and the twitching was more of an annoyance than anything. "I will take care of Aleron." She said as loudly and with as much conviction as she could manage; she was in no condition to fight and she knew it, but Yusuke was, and sitting around here worrying about them wasn't going to get the fighting done. Why were humans so illogical? Aleron wouldn't want him to sit here fretting over her, and he should have known that, so why did he hesitate? "You should hurry up and help them, before Hiei gets too.... frustrated at Kuwabara..." Yusuke looked at Aleron as she slipped into unconsciousness, obviously still worried out of his wits and not wanting to leave her, but he knew that he had to get into the fray- the others couldn't do it without him, and Aleron would rip him a new one if she heard that he'd just sat there and done nothing. Yue's words only solidified what he already knew. The detective's eyes narrowed, "Don't either of you die!" He said, before turning and running off into the fray. His first method of attack was to fire off a spirit gun, even if the guy absorbed it into his mirror, it'd give the others a chance to attack and get the thing away from him. That was what they had to do first- it was the only way they were going to defeat the demon at all. |
Kuwabara ran at the demon as soon it absorbed the spirit gun, slicing at the demon with his spirit sword. The demon dodged all his attacks, just making Kuwabara madder, and got in a solid kick to the human's midsection, sending him flying back several feet.
Hiei took his chance while the demon was distracted with Kuwabara. Unlike the Dark Tournament, he felt free to interfere with this fight. So he managed to slice off the demon's arm at the elbow, the mirror falling to the ground with a clatter. The demon's eyes widened as he backed away from them. He wasn't about to die here, not at the hands of these fools. The demon cracked the mirror, making all the energy it had been storing escape in a sudden torrent. Energy whipped around them like wind, seeping into their bodies and into the land. Lightning crackled overhead, and sudden rain poured on them all. The demon sent tw quick blasts of energy, one at Hiei, who dodged, and the other at Yusuke, and used the distraction to run away. He could always try again later. Hiei's eyes narrowed and he walked over, picking up the mirror. "He wasn't strong after all," he said quietly. "Or skilled. He just had too much borrowed energy." He scoffed. ((Hope that's not too abrupt)) |
{Nope, I was gonna suggest that the guy get away, because it seemed kinda anticlimactic to kill him now. XD} Yusuke dodged out of the way when the demon fired an attack; he tried to counter, but the demon had already disappeared into the chaos by the time his spirit gun had charged. The detective growled in frustration. He didn't like letting the guy get away- it meant that he could become a pain in his ass again whenever he dang well pleased. "He might have been weak." Yusuke agreed with Hiei, "But blackmailing Kurama means he's smart.... and it really pisses me off that he got away!" He slapped his fist into his palm in frustration. Then he glanced at Yue and Aleron; the demon had wrapped her wings around the two of them when their foe had started firing off blasts so as to ward off debri, but as she let them fold behind her back again the two of them were still covered in dust... At least Yue had managed to keep the rocks and larger objects away from Aleron. "So uhhh...." Kuwabara let his spirit sword fade away, "I guess this is the part where we go back to Genkai's?" "Yeah..." Yusuke pulled out his phone and fired a text off to Koenma, demanding a portal back home be opened because he sure as hell didn't plan on walking, before carefully picking up Aleron, "We need to regroup." He didn't sound happy about that prospect at all. The portal opened up as he finished speaking, with a grumpy looking Koenma on the other side- obviously waiting to hear how the mission went. Yusuke went through the portal first after telling Kuwabara to help out Yue; the poor demon was having trouble getting to her feet, and he doubted she'd be able to walk well. |
Hiei got Aleron through, since she might be useful later, and then left her for the others to deal with. All he cared about was forcing it through the toddler's thick skull that Kurama hadn't done this of his own will. Stupid prince.
Aleron groaned softly as she was moved, her eyes opening part-way again as she woke up. She tried to sit up, winced, and let her head fall back against the floor again with a dull thud. Not a good move. She may have only died for a minute or two, but damn did she hurt for some reason. "Well?" Koenma demanded as soon as they were all through. "What happened?" "The demon blackmailed Kurama into doing it," Hiei said, glaring at Koenma. "But Kurama still stole the mirror," Koenma said with a frown. "Only because the demon was threatening us!" Kuwabara protested loudly. "Besides, we got your stupid mirror back." Aleron managed to prop herself up against a wall, ignoring the pain zinging through her body. "Wasn't his fault, Koenma," she said, looking over at Yue worriedly. "Stop being a prick." And then she promptly ignored the rest of them. "Yue, you okay? What happened?" She'd seen her friend in pain, right before she'd blacked out and her heart had started acting weird. But she didn't know what had happened to Yue and why she'd reacted like she had. Which made her very worried. |
"I'm alright." Yue mumbled, sinking down to the floor the moment that Kuwabara let her do so; she couldn't feel her legs and it made walking rather hard. The floor was much more comfortable at this point because any other way she felt as if she'd fall over. The twitching was starting to lessen at least, only happening every once in awhile now, and only in her tail or fingers. "My entire body is numb, so I don't really feel any pain at all.... in fact I don't really feel anything!" She managed a weak smile that was meant to be reassuring, but she wasn't sure if the numbness was a good thing or a bad thing in all honesty. "How are you feeling?" she decided to change the subject, "I felt your energy almost disappear.... But then I...-" She shuddered, "-I don't know what happened.... But all of a sudden I was in so much pain... And I couldn't do anything at all." Koenma looked at Yue and then back at Yusuke, "So this guy blackmailed Kurama with some sort of horrible disease or something?" He looked thoughtful. His father still wouldn't be pleased to find out the mirror was broken, or that the one responsible had gotten away, but at least Kurama was proven innocent.... And as long as he put Yusuke on catching the guy they could hopefully all get out of this without experiencing the king's wrath. "Can that guy still use whatever disease against you?" he looked at Hiei for this question, figuring he'd most likely have an answer over Yusuke or Kuwabara, "You can't just let him get away- or else King Yamma will have all our heads!" |
"Sounds like something's wrong." Aleron frowned. "We need to figure something out, Yue. I mean, whatever the guy did, he almost took both of us out. Actually I think I did die for a minute or two there." She shook her head. "Argh, this is so frustrating!" She didn't know what was going, or what had happened, or what that stupid demon had done to them. She just knew that she felt horrible, and Yue probably needed to see a doctor now (oh, joy for that, she thought internally with much sarcasm).
Hiei nodded. "Unless we figure out what it is and neutralize it," he said. "Don't worry about him. As soon as he stops, he'll be dead. I'm still tracking him. He's not nearly so powerful without the mirror." Hiei smirked. Genkai sighed when she found them all in her temple again. One look at Aleron and Yue was all it took for her to figure out something was wrong with those two. "Yusuke. Take them to a room in the back. We need to figure out what's wrong with them, before it happens again." Idiots. She dealt with a bunch of idiots. Maybe eventually one day they wouldn't get into so much trouble. Yeah. And maybe one day Yusuke would make calm, rational decisions. |
Yue's eyes widened at the thought of Aleron having actually died back there, she would have probably hugged the girl to make sure she was really there if she hadn't been so numb and found it so difficult to really move far, either way it finally dawned on her how badly her own condition probably was by the time Genkai walked into the room. Yusuke grumbled about taking the girls where Genkai told him, but moreso because grumbling over anything the hag told him was a habit at this point; he was very worried despite not showing it, and probably would have run down and up the stairs to the temple again if he thought it would help. He moved Aleron to the room first, since Yue's wings and constant twitching would have made transport more awkward, which gave the demon girl enough time to address Genkai. "Your fox friend's fine. He regained consciousness once or twice, but he's still resting." She stated before Yue even had a chance to ask, "You on the other hand are not fine.... You have a fine knack for getting yourself beat up when you're afraid of doctors, dimwit." Really, it was like her apprentice wore off on them or something. At the thought of doctors, Yue's face paled considerably, and she started twitching a bit more, leading the detective to throw a dirty look in the hag's direction as he helped the demon hobble to the other room, she met it with a smirk- someone had to brighten the situation around here after all. {nighty night! Got work tomorrow! o-o} |
((ewww, work. Not fun!))
Aleron let out a weak bark of laughter, sinking down onto the bed when Yusuke moved her to one. Oh, if she could she would kill that demon for killing her. Almost. Sort of. Okay, now her head hurt. She was content to wait until after they found out what was wrong with Yue. after all, she was fine, just tired and sore. Nothing a good long bath and a nap couldn't cure. So she rested back against the wall with a little sigh, closing her eyes just for a bit. Before five minutes had passed, she was fast asleep, still sitting up. Koenma sighed and shook his head. "Alert me as soon as the demon stops," he told Hiei. "I need to get this back to Spirit World." He looked at the mirror for a moment before he sighed and left, to go try to placate his father and to put the mirror back where it belonged. Why did he always end up cleaning up these messes...? Hiei glowered after Koenma but flitted outside to go keep track of the demon. He'd intended to kill the demon anyway, now he just had permission. Not that he needed permission. |
{Well, I'm dreading going in ^^; but once I do and get in the groove of things time passes quickly- unless the boss is real grumpy, then everyone's miserable- but I don't think she's in today!} Yusuke watched as Koenma opened a portal and returned to the spirit world; he didn't look very happy to be going to see his old man.... Maybe his dad would be more pleased with him if he were to actually get potty trained instead of breaking stuff and causing trouble. Hiei left too. The detective was rather surprised he'd been so obedient with Koenma, but then, when he wanted to kill something Hiei would use anyone and anything as a means to an end. It was a good thing he was on their side with this one- it wouldn't be long before they found the demon with his tracking skills. Botan stayed behind, she'd been given orders by Koenma to stick around and fill him in on anything interesting that happened later; she didn't seem as bubbly as she normally was though, rather, she maintained silence and just looked worried for the most part. Maybe she didn't have to worry about getting early wrinkles since she was the grim reaper. A look in the opposite direction showed Genkai headed towards Yue, who pulled the blankets up to her chin and stared wide eyed like a child about to face the boogyman. "Alright kid, now this old hag isn't going to be taking your crap today." Genkai stated hardly, giving Yue a cold glare as she did so. "So you can either sit still, or I'll get my dimwitted apprentice and his friends to make you sit still- and you wouldn't want to cause them so much trouble after all that fighting, would you?" The demon shrunk back a bit, her wings lying flat against her back and her ears drooping; she gave in and got rid of the blankets, sitting stiffly still as Genkai worked. Despite her fear, Yue didn't want to cause trouble.... But if someone came at her with a needle.... she was going to make a lot of noise. Yusuke came into the room after a couple of minutes, glancing at Aleron and taking note that she was just sleeping before looking back at Genkai, "So, are your old bat eyes going finally, or is there a verdict on what's wrong?" { ^^; I think you'd be able to explain it more, because my limit of knowledge of this disease is that it mutates cells or something like that and causes lots of pain... Which wouldn't be a very good explanation for Genkai to give XD } |
((Nah, it's cool! ^^))
Genkai glanced over at him before returning to her examination of Yue. "I've heard of something like this. A virus that mutates demonic cells until the body no longer recognizes them. The body's natural defenses kick in, and start destroying the mutated cells, which causes a high fever and probably a lot of pain. From what you dimwits have told me, I'd guess it's triggered by electricity." Genkai sat back a bit, frowning. "I've only ever heard of this once, recently. As far as I know there's no cure yet." "But..." Kuwabara was flabbergasted for a few moments. "What do you mean, no cure?!" "I mean this is a weapon," Genkai said harshly. "It's meant to destroy demons. Until I can find out who made this, I won't know if there's a cure or not." She stood. "I'd suggest you stay here, Yue. Less chance of random electric surges setting off the disease." Shaking her head, Genkai left the room. Aleron groaned quietly. The yelling had woken her up, at least partially, and she pulled the blanket the rest of the way over her head to try to block out the noise and the light, and go back to sleep. But she couldn't. She cracked open one eye, cranky, and pulled the blanket down enough to glower at the nearest person. Who happened to be Yusuke. |
Yusuke turned when he heard Aleron moving around, a bit taken aback by the glare that was being sent in his direction... He'd have thought she'd woken up on the wrong side of the bed, but she hadn't even gotten out of bed yet. "Sorry that dumbass Kuwabara woke you up-" He finally stated, not wanting her to eat him alive in her condition. It was the first thing that came to the detective's mind, though when his friend began to speak up rather loudly again Yusuke was quick to continue speaking to shut him up, "Well, spirit world decided they didn't want ya, so the verdict is that you're gonna live!" He smiled a bit at that, inwardly relieved as he'd been quite worried. Yue swished her tail; the twitching had finally stopped, which was a relief, and she was starting to get some feeling back in her limbs... Which was depressing as they were rather sore. She hadn't really understood much of Genkai's explanation, but she'd gotten the part that she'd apparently contracted some incurable disease.... That was a bit scary. "Humans with incurable diseases have to go to doctors a lot, don't they?" She wrapped her arms around her legs worriedly. "Well, it's better than being a dead fish, right?" Yusuke raised an eyebrow at her, but the demon only shrugged in reply. "Well, yes, I do suppose I might die too." Her tone of voice made it clear that such a thought didn't scare her nearly as much as having to be near doctors. "You really need to get your priorities straight!" The detective finally responded after a long pause. He wasn't exactly sure how much more bluntly he could say it- but he knew that if they had to her friends would make her get treatment. |
"Apparently my biting wit and acerbic personality finally came in handy for something," Aleron said, pulling the blanket down and pushing herself into a sitting position slowly. "Ow. Dying hurts." She rubbed her chest absently before she looked over at Yue.
"Wait a second. Incurable diseases? What are you talking about?" Aleron frowned. She hadn't been awake for that part of the conversation. Now she was worried. If it had just been a disease then yeah, no problem, she wouldn't have been freaking out nearly so much. But an incurable disease? What the hell was up with that? Almost everything had a cure, you just had to find it. Shaken, she looked between Yusuke and Yue, clearly worried. Yue and doctors did not mix well, at all, but that could always be avoided if need be. Like by figuring out what was going on and finding a bloody cure. ((Sorry it's short >.<)) |
{It's okay ^^; my post's not that great either!} At Aleron's comment of 'dying hurts', Yusuke merely shrugged and said, "Yeah, tell me about it- being hit by a car ain't exactly a walk in the park either." When she followed up with a question about the 'incurable disease', he hesitated a bit more. "I dunno exactly." He finally said slowly, "Ask that old hag about it if you want all the details, but basically fishy here's got some sort of disease that mutates cells and makes the body destroy itself- it's activated by electricity." The detective smirked, "but hey, she'll be fine if she stays here- and it's not like we've gotten her addicted to video games yet!" He pulled out his phone and shut it off, putting on a bold smirk as he laughed and said, "See, it's all good! Now quit your worryin'!" As he spoke Botan came into the room. "Well Yusuke, I'm glad you've learned how to be optimistic!" She said, forcing her usual bubbliness into her words so as to divert attention from the worry that was festering inside. After a moment though she sighed and added, "But we really won't know anything about the demon's motives or anything exact about the disease until Kurama is able to talk..." It was so hard to just sit still and wait, but they couldn't do anything until they found out where the demon was or got some answers. |
Aleron's frown deepened but she didn't say anything. Instead she got up, despite her aches. She neded to move.
"I'll be outside." She turned and marched out of the room, making her way outside. She had to work off some of this nervous energy somehow, so she sat down and started stretching, trying to occupy herself with the simple moves. A few hours later, Kurama woke up slowly. He blinked a few times, sitting up carefully. Well, he'd been right; he hadn't died from the blow. So his plan had worked. Good. But where was he now? He sat up all the way and looked around, listening. He could hear Genkai and Yusuke bickering about something. Ah. Genkai's temple, then. Good. Apparently that meant everyone else had survived as well. Good. He stood carefully, testing himself. Not too bad. He slipped out of the room and down the hall, trying to figure out where everyone was. |
Yusuke pondered what to do with himself for a couple of moments; eventually he decided to follow Aleron outside. Partly because he was afraid with how weak she currently was that she'd hurt herself (though he'd never actually admit that aloud), and partly because he had nothing better to do.... Which, he kept telling himself, was the real reason he ended up outside. The air felt refreshingly cool compared to inside, and after walking through the gardens a bit, the detective found Aleron exercising a bit. "If you wanna work off some steam, try running up and down the temple stairs a few times." He said with a snicker, to let her know he was there, "That'll really work you out." As he spoke he plopped down on a rock, watching her warily in case she decided to A. attack him or B. do something stupid. Yue had drifted off to sleep when Aleron had gone outside and Yusuke had followed, because Botan had remained quiet, and an exhaustion the demon hadn't known was there through the numbness had finally kicked in. Normally she'd have reacted to the sound of footsteps, but Yue didn't wake up until Botan had seen Kurama and exclaimed rather loudly, "What are you doing up!?" The worry in her tone made her voice even louder and her energy flare harshly, rousing Yue successfully from her slumber, "You should still be resting!" Seeing who Botan was talking about, Yue smiled. "I am glad you are alright." She said genuinely, "Though getting hurt like that isn't good for anyone's health you know!" {Sorry it took so long to reply.... waiting for my internet connection to come back with the post just sitting here.... dum dee dum.... Oh! There it is!} |
((No worries. Nice sig, by the way ^^))
"No thanks, I'd rather not have another heart attack. Spirit world might not spit me back out again this time." Aleron sat down, leaning over and putting her forhead to her knee easily. She stayed there for a moment before switching to the other side. "So. All we have to do is find the demon and kill it, and then get the antidote for Yue. We have to do something for her." She frowned and leaned forward, pressing her head to the ground with her arms stretched before her. "I'm fine, Botan," Kurama said quietly. He looked over at Yue and smiled a little. "Yes, that is true. I feel better, however." He sat on the edge of her bed, looking her over. "How are you? How did it go?" He couldn't help it. He wanted to know what had happened while he'd been unconscious. And he wanted to see if he'd been successful or not. Hopefully he had been. Because if not... He didn't want to think about who the demon could have hurt. He almost went to go check on everyone, but thought better of it. He just stayed where he was and waited for the information. |
