"Up to you," Naomi said. She grinned. "You can play in your garden more, I'm sure the little bitey things are starved for attention."
Osanna rolled her eyes but didn't argue. Her plants did want more attention, after all.
Duo just grinned and settled down there, content with life for the moment. |
It took another fifteen hours or so for her to get the book to agree to more transporting. She was trying to be a little nicer to it, but it still tended to snark at her.
"Please?" |
I still don't see why you feel the need to bring them all here, the Book grumbled. But fine. No dawdling this time. Straight there, grab them, straight back. And then they're staying for a while.
"Until we can do it on our own, it falls to you to get us places," Naomi pointed out. "Unless you have some pages in there that can teach us how to dimension hop on our own?"
Doubtful. You don't have access to the kind of energy needed, the Book snarked. I suppose hypothetically it's possible, but not bloody likely.
"What kind of energy?" Naomi asked, curious now. Because it hadn't said there wasn't anything, just that she probably couldn't use it.
More like amount, actually. To take one person across worlds would require about as much energy as your little firey friend has.
"Meaning close to a Level Six," Naomi mused. She couldn't help but be momentarily distracted when the book mentioned Hiei. She hadn't seen him in a while, after all.
If that Level Six was lucky, he'd even survive the jump.
"Maybe he is that lucky," Naomi murmured. "Yusuke is even more powerful than Hiei is. It might be something to look into."
The Book made no real reply, other than snarking, Are you ready to go yet or shall I just wait around for your bloody pleasure?
"Fine, fine, let's go," Naomi said distractedly. Now she was considering things a bit differently.
Without another word, the Book transported her and Duo both to Duo's hangar again.
"Alright, we're back," Duo called. "You all ready to go?" |
"Duo?" Quatre called, coming through one of the doors. When he saw his friend, he grinned. "Duo! You're back!"
"Only temporarily," Duo said with a grin. "Come on. We agreed we'd all go visit Naomi's house, so now we're going to visit her."
"I don't think the others really believed we'd get to go," Quatre commented. "They stayed, of course," meaning he'd made them stay, "but still."
Duo snorted. "Well, help me round them up and then we can get going." He started around the hangar gathering up the others so they could get going to Naomi's world again.
Quatre nodded and went to find Trowa and Wufei while Duo went to look for Heero. In the meantime, Naomi was flipping pages in the book, looking for that trans-dimensional 'spell'.
Duo managed to round everyone else up, going over to Naomi again.
"I think we're all ready now." |
Naomi blinked and looked up from leafing through the book.
"Oh! Right," she said, turning back to the talking pages. "Home again?" |
Stop flipping pages like that. It tickles, the Book grumbled, but it sent all six of them back to outside Naomi's house.
Duo just grinned and watched the other four all have a few moments of mental scrambling to adjust. |
"Sorry, I was looking for something," Naomi murmured as the book sent them back. Reluctantly, she stopped searching through the pages and put the book away so she could keep an eye on the other five.
Duo grinned as he watched Trowa start to look around cautiously. Since nothing jumped out at them immediately, they all started to explore cautiously.
"My house is here, my friend Osanna lives across the street. She's part fox," Naomi said as the guys started to poke around. "We're on the outskirts of town. The closest neighbor we really have is the water sprite who lives in the lake out in the woods."
Wufei just turned and looked at her, as if he couldn't quite believe what he was hearing. Quatre, though, was closer to Trowa and started to poke about. |
